  1. Tropical Storm to form this weekend. Of course we head out on Sat and the forecast on almost all islands we head too are at 90% chance of rain.

First port is Amber Cove and DR is in the cone so not sure if we will still make it there or be re-routed elsewhere.

In all the summers and Octobers and Novembers, I have lucked out without an issue cruising then but now on Thanksgiving we may get it.

I need some wine with my whine -

Keeping my eyes out for this also. We leave on Sunday.

  2. I didn't sit and watch any of them but I passed through Lido Deck a couple of times while the movies were on. The seating consists of all the chairs and loungers near the midships pool and then facing the screen on the terraces leading up to Deck 10, so there's ample seating. I HAVE seen times on previous cruises when every available chair was occupied -- it was for one of the Divergent movies -- so for popular films I'd suggest getting there a little early. And....free popcorn!

    Thanks Fo the info.

  3. For our cruise, formal nights were the second night (would have been after HMC had we made the port) and the fifth night (after Grand Turk).

Yes indeed, lobster tails were served on the first formal night. They are served on cruises that are 6 nights or longer, and this sailing qualified.

Our waiter encouraged our lobster-eatin' folks to have a second one. They expect people to have two or sometimes three. :)

Awesome... My husband will be pleased.

  4. I have done some research and as usual you are correct. I guess they had to replace the fish and chips with something.

According to my PVP on the Conquest there is a place in the back of ship on the lido called the Seafood Corner and items are purchased for a fee. There is a complimentary BBQ stand that replaced the old fish and chips.

  5. Just got off Conquest yesterday. I'll post a couple of pictures later, but to answer your question of market prices, crab legs were $19/lb and shrimp was 11 or 12/lb. They did have a fresh fish, banzoni, or something like that. I'd never heard of that fish.

I did try the lobster roll and they were good, but I had lobster rolls in Rhode Island last summer, so I may be a little biased. I did not try anything else. So much other food available at no charge.

I went through that area often, and people were always there. Not crowded, but steady. I think I waited a little over 5 minutes for my order. They give you a pager to let you know when your order is ready. Most days they were open from 11am-9pm. Plenty of time to partake if you wish. On a side note, the BBQ on deck 10 was open 12-2:30pm everyday, including embarkation day. This was a welcomed treat for us. We sampled most of what they offer and it was all very good. It's not truly smoked, it's baked, but it was still really good. My fave was the beef with Kansas City style sauce served on soft buttered and toasted hoagie style bun. The beans were excellent as well.

I think both options will be popular on the Conquest as people find their way back there. So many cruisers have no clue as to what all is offered and will just stop at the first station they come to on Lido.

That's all for now, I'll try to answer any questions y'all may have.

    Hank

Are you able to post the pics of the seafood and BBQ place?

  7. I just got off the Conquest today. I usually just lurk but I intend to write a full review of my trip. I'm still learning how to post so bear with me if the pictures don't post correctly.

I went twice. Once to try the lobster rolls and once for the fish-n-chips. I would not call myself a big seafood fan but they were both okay.

The fries are super crispy which I liked but very greasy - think guy's fries. The fish was good, but I am not a big fan of fried fish, I tried it since I knew there were a lot of people who wanted to know how it was so I may not be the best judge. It was very crispy and freshly prepared on request so it was steaming hot and the tartar sauce was amazing. A little greasy but not too much so.

Overall it was better than a Captain D's or Long John Silver's. Not cheap tasting like a lot of people were thinking it would probably be. It was not however "fine quality dining" or atmosphere that warrants the upcharge. The food was not bad, and it is worthwhile to try it if you don't mind the upcharge as you indicated but it does feel like a nickle and dime move on carnival's part.

The Lobster rolls were excellent. They look very unappealing in the pictures that have been posted, including mine, but they were very good. My one complaint would be pairing it with those greasy fries.

I have some more pictures of the area itself, but honestly it looks no different than the seafood shack on the Vista just branded differently.

If you have more pics please share.
