  1. I agree. I have only been on two HAL cruises and going on my third in December. I would rather dwell on why I enjoy HAL rather dwell on the negatives. Every cruise line has their plus’ and negatives.
  2. Inn at the Market. Great location and they offer a cruise package. Not too bad of a deal.
  3. We have cruised MSC 3 times in YC and got the OBC.
  4. Holland has their own program. You get a $100.00 OBC one per year. My wife got hers last month on our Norway cruise. I will try to get mine on this cruise.
  5. I agree completely regarding our experience on the Rotterdam but last year on the Westerdam I thought they were exceptional. Again, hit and miss
  6. We just got off the Rotterdam last week and the Billboard Onboard plays two or three sets (45 mins if I remember correctly) . Same for Rolling Stones and BB King. Music is kinda like food. What I enjoy might not be to your liking but we thought Rolling Stone band was great, BB King was very good and the Billboard Onboard wasn’t very good. That disappointed us because we really like the dueling pianos.
  7. Club Orange restaurant. No up charge in CO.
  8. I booked the inside and going to wait and see If I can upgrade to a balcony closer to cruise date. If not, I can’t go to Dallas and spend 3 days for the price of a 7 day cruise. So, it’s all good.
  9. I have received two free cruise offers in separate emails. I booked a Caribbean cruise on the Rotterdam in December and will probably book an Alaska cruise at the end of September. I have been on one HAL cruise and never been in the casino. I am not sure why I received the emails but glad I did. Would do a longer cruise but my wife still works. Guess I could leave her at home and take a longer cruise. Just saying
  10. Northeast Texas. Where God started when the earth was created.
  11. Really not sure why I got two emails from HAL….
  12. Lightning hits again. I just received another set of free inside cruises. This time Alaska, Canada and some Northern Europe cruises. Kinda afraid to show my wife.
  13. My wife talked me into a HAL cruise to Alaska last September. Loved the cruise and we booked another HAL cruise that leaves from Amsterdam in 32 days. The other day I received email for a free cruise. Just booked one for December 15th. Total cost was $570.00 but will have $200.00 OBC. Too good to pass
  14. Way back in November I booked with KLM in PE. It was a direct flight from IAH (Houston). I few weeks after booking I received an email from KLM informing me that I had been involuntarily downgraded from PE to economy. KLM and Delta share bookings and I called and asked if I could be involuntarily upgraded to BC? Of course the respond was no but that I could change my flight to Delta departing from DFW. There is about a three hour layover in DTW but DFW is a little closer to us and the departure and arrival times were better. Point is, you never know what to expect when you travel. It is an adventure. Just waiting for Delta to change flight times, equipment, etc. Haha
  15. I really don’t have a dog in this fight but if you go to your local grocery store you will pay for the water. If you have drinks on board your ship you will have to pay. I don’t understand what the issue is.
  16. I live in a small Northeast Texas town. I was a probation officer for 36 years and bad things happen everywhere. Whatever happens in the larger cities happened in my town but on a lesser scale. I have been to Mexico at least 50 times and I never felt unsafe. We are going again in May. You just can’t do anything stupid and put yourself in a position to be a victim. If you don’t think the risk is worth the reward then lock your doors at home and have your groceries delivered.
  17. For full disclosure, my wife and I are taking our 16 year old granddaughter and one of her friends on a Carnival ship in May. I am platinum on Carnival and I know that I can stay out past 11:17. I guess it is just on Holland. I have admit that we really enjoyed out Holland cruise last year and looking forward to July even with all the terrible things that are wrong with Holland. Tongue in cheek.
  18. We have only sailed HAL one time. We will be on the Rotterdam in July. Is it true what my wife told me, that I will turn into a pumpkin if I stay out after 11:17?
  19. I don’t blame you for making the call. I learned a long time ago that most TA’s don’t take care of you as well as you will take care of yourself My TA told me when I first transferred my booking to him to wait until final payment to book CO. I might have waited and maybe I wouldn’t have been able to purchase CO.
  20. Funny how something’s are different. I booked thru a TA to get a little better price and I booked CO later directly thru HAL. Also, made the cabin upgrade to a little better location. I guess my TA will find out when I make my final payment next month.
  21. I booked with Delta from DFW. Although, we have a change of planes at DTW we only paid $3300.00 RT in premium economy. The $3300 was for two round trip tickets to Amsterdam.
  22. I also added CO directly with HAL but they upgraded me without my TA knowing.
  23. Right or wrong, I always book with the cruise line first and then transfer the booking to my TA to get his extra perks. I keep all the original booking info from the cruise line to use as reference if needed. Having said that, things happen and I am not going to let OBC (lack of) influence my cruise enjoyment.
