Thanks for the prompt replies.

My dw & I booked a 7 day round trip Alaskan Cruise from Seattle on May 22 on the Ruby. This weekend we did some looking and found a 1 day cruise from Vancouver to Seattle on May 20th. We plan to rent a car at Seatac to drive to Vancouver on Thursday May 19th. We would just like to take an overnight bag for the one night cruise and leave the rest of our luggage in Seattle. Are we able to leave our luggage at Pier 91 for a few days before the Ruby leaves Seattle? Or is there a hotel that we can leave our luggage at, then stay there on Saturday night prior to heading out from Seattle?

It varies by state but you usually have to take delivery in your state for the transaction to be taxable. For example, an order from Amazon delivered to your home address. You are not normally, depends upon the state, for purchases made outside the state and used/consumed outside the state, ie, you don't have to pay taxes on things you buy on a trip outside the state unless you bring them back into the state.
I use turbotax for my state and federal taxes. There is a question asking you to identify purchases made outside the state which you did not pay state sales taxes.
What you seem to be saying, is that if I am traveling outside my home state of WI, I don't have to pay sales tax on items I purchase on my travels outside of WI? If I go to IL, the sales tax rate is higher than what it is in WI. I don't think a retailer would go along with not charging me IL sales tax on something I purchase in IL. What you are saying may be true for items you order on the internet and have shipped to your home address, however, if I have a drink in CA while the ship is in port, I would expect to pay sales tax on the purchase since the ship has a physical presence in CA.

Although, not on a formal night, the last time we were on the Ruby, we did see people turned away on a smart casual night that were wearing blue jeans to the main dining room.

You can also get really tasty hot chocolate (they will add whipped cream, cinnamon, etc) and on Regal/Royal and a couple of other ships you can get Gelato.[/quote]
Only on the Royal and Regal can you get gelato with a punch on the coffee card.
We have never been on the Royal or Regal, but have gotten gelato with a punch on the coffee card on 2 different cruises.

The last time we went, we rented a car at Canada Place and returned it at the Seatac airport. I think the cost was cheaper than Princess Travel and we could go at our own pace.

11% is quite a COLA
That all depends upon how long it has been since there has been an increase.

My sister & her husband on going on this as well. Hopefully they will not be disappointed, since this is their 1st Princess cruise.

The last time we sailed into Vancouver (May 2), we rented a car to drive to Seatac. Our cost was $51 for the rental and we could stop on our way. It was much better than taking Amtrak or Princess Transfer.

We just returned from the Coral Princess. They had the Sound of Music on MUTS one afternoon. There were about 6-8 people watching, however the afternoon when it was on, was very cold and windy. There very few people watching anything on MUTS for most of the cruise. We usually watch one or two movies per cruise and did not watch any this time.

We have always walked off and caught a taxi and have been to the airport in about 10 minutes. I would not even think of taking Princess Transfer to FLL.

Only on the Regal/Royal. :)
I have gotten Gelato with a punch on the Ruby. I was told by the Barristas no, however, when I asked at the gelato station, I could use it.

I live in a community property state where they are supposed to notify the spouse of the other opens credit. It seems to be hit or miss. Sometimes we get the notification, sometimes we do not.

I guess I am in the minority. We did the cruise first and save the very best for last!

If I wanted the games that Carnival has, I would book Carnival. I like Princess the way it is - very limited games around the pool.

Sure, but no matter what time the dining room opens, there
will be a bunch of people lining up 15 minutes beforehand.
So, apparently, there are people who want to eat at even 5:00...
Growing up, breakfast was at 7 am, lunch at noon and supper (dinner) was at 5 pm. As a kid, if you missed one of them on a non-school day, some privileges were taken away.

We just got our first upsell. We went from a forward balcony to a mid ship mini for $59 per person.
-
My wife & I paid $494 each, including port charges for a balcony on the Coral. 5 nights from LA to Vancouver. Unfortunately, the airfare will be more than the cruise.

"Not like the USA where we would never have a holiday interfere with tourism... Lol"
Good Friday has pretty much gone on the wayside in the USA as far as closings, at least where I live. However Easter Sunday there is very little open other than restaurants and convenience stores. Easter Sunday is usually one of the busiest days for Sunday Brunches, after Mothers Day.

"What else did I see – people sitting in the Theatre at the end of the row rather then moving down"
I am one of those "rude" passengers that sits on the end of a row. I have intestinal problems and sometimes need to leave quite quickly. I would much rather sit at the end and let people in to sit in the center, than sit in the center and have to leave suddenly.

We were on the Ruby in November. We signed up for an excursion at Grand Turk that was waitlisted. We signed up at the excursion desk the first day. I was very surprised when the tickets showed up in our cabin.

Oh I really feel sorry for you, San Fran or Long Beach. :p
My choice LA/Houston/Ft Lauderdale. Ba Humbug.
Wish I only had to go a maximum of 300 miles to the port.
And I wish my airfare did not cost more than the price of the cruise. My choices are the same as yours. I drive of an hour or two would be great! I drive at least that far to get to the airport!

It appears there are some pretty good sales out there. We just booked one today for next spring that we could not resist. I looked at some of the discount travel agents and they were quite a bit higher than what Princess had on their website.

I had a few punches left on my Ace of Latte coffee card from some time ago. I could not use it for brewed coffee, unless they punched it when I was on the Ruby in November. I was able to get Gelato one time but another person at the IC a couple of days later said I could not use it for Gelato. The barristas at IC had never seen one of the Ace of Latte cards before.
Does Princess offer the Tracey arm small boat?

We are going RT Seattle on May 22nd. We do have the small ship excursion booked through Princess. I think it is a pretty popular excursion, so we booked it early. It picks you up from the ship and returns you to Juneau.
