Are they still available upon request on the ship? I would think that once in your cabin, if you ask Stewart nicely, he/she should be able to supply one?

    Not anymore

Just off the Emerald Princess on the Panama Trip ending in Fort Lauderdale on Monday.

What's happened to the MDR dress policy of no shorts.

On this cruise there was more men wearing shorts and tee shirts than trousers and shirts also noticed guys wearing what looked liked swim wear, flip flops baseball caps and my wife also intimated that some of the women's dress sense was just as bad.

As for formal night I would say about 25% dressed for the evening but shorts were still in abundance in

    the MDR.

Same thing on the cruise before yours Ford Lauderdale to LA, I am not sure if it is fleet wide but the Emerald Maitre D's are not holding any sort of standards in the MDRs.

  3. Anyone else miss the blue cloth tote bags they used to give out?  We still have a few and always bring them onboard with us to tote things around in.  We always get asked where we got them.  You can’t get them anymore that I can see, it would be nice if they at least had them available to buy.

I have never seen the indication that non alcoholic drinks are excluded.  Would be nice if true as we drink lots of bottled water in a day.

On our cruise a couple of weeks ago we were ordering up to 4 bottles of water each per day and we payed nothing for them. We had the plan.

Alcoholic drinks max 15 per day with unlimited specialty coffees, teas, water and sodas.

As @voljeep mentioned earlier “ at Princess’s discretion” for additional alcoholic beverages.

Does the Discretion mean if you are still standing after 15 drinks ? 🙂

I've just spotted The Riverside online, have stayed at the Hilton Marina a couple times in the past but I like what the Riverside looks like (at least on their website) and the price is reasonable for Oct 2024. Is it close enough to airport and cruiseport to make it worthwhile?

The Hilton Marina is a nice hotel, but higher prices, breakfast is not included, the buffet comes to $70.00 for two people with gratuity added.

You laugh (and it is funny), but on a past cruise I have seen crew wearing hazmat suits enter a cabin just down the hall from us.  Noro.  An eye-opener.

I remember having issues once after eating bad food, when I went to the ships med center I asked if it might be noro.  She asked me if I made it to the toilet, when I said yes, she said no it’s not noro 😳

One thing I forgot to mention was that included in the COVID debarking (sounds like something a dog does) information was the interesting item that, if a passenger had reserved a transfer to the airport through Princess, it would be canceled and alternate arrangements must be made by the passenger. Compensation would require submitting a claim with the travel insurance.

Yes, we wore masks during this. Escorts had bottles of sanitizer to spray anything we touched.

Wonder what kind of cleaning our cabin got.

  9. One thing I did not mention, it is entirely up to you but I would suggest being up to date on your Covid and Flu shots, RSV shot if you can get it.  There were more than a few people coughing on the ship and a few people were confined to cabin while they got rid of it.  No major infection protocols onboard but you don’t want your vacation ruined by being stuck in your cabin.  We definitely caught something (not  Covid) as we both had stuffed sinuses after getting home.

Thank you for the honest review! We'll be on the Emerald in April, and it's good to know that in general it's all in working order. The only thing missing is a review of the "house band" - as someone who spent most of my weekend nights at nightclubs or arenas for music, I find I'm generally disappointed in most cruise bands, but always optimistic in finding a gem at some point and sometimes content to "enjoy" the rough edges.

Did they have espresso in the buffet as well? If not, that will change some of my caffeination strategy.

So the bartender insults you while you drink? (I'm sorry, I can't let a bad autocorrect go by. 😁)

I can’t remember seeing an espresso machine in the buffet,  you could always order it on the app for delivery but it would be  quicker to  grab one on the way in.

Good to know!  I was simply responding to the other poster who said there was not.  Not having been on the Emerald I was unable to add personal experience.  Thanks for clarifying!

Mind you I only know that our cabin (balcony) had one, I can’t speak for all cabins

Apparently the Emerald has a different layout for power. I have never sailed on the Emerald so I have no first hand knowledge of that. All of the later ships I've sailed on *did* have outlets behind the bed.

We just got off emerald and there is the one European plug behind the bed

Thank you for sharing your cruise adventures. Are all of the menus paper based or are they also in the app or a QR code on the table.  Thanks.

Reaching back to this one, the menus at the table are paper based.  However I found later in the cruise that I could pull up the days menus on the stateroom TV if I wanted to see what was served for supper that night.

  14. There is a european style plug behind the bed that has a lamp plugged into it.  I have a european power bar that I use when travelling over there and it works great to have the lamp and another device connected if your spouse wants a charger on their side of the bed.most chargers these days are multi voltage, you just need the right adapter.
