When we sailed, we bought a $50.00 soda card online for $25.00. This gave enough soda without having to carry soda on board and through the airport.

Can someone buy the package from ship services or only on the ship ?
We purchased the suite amenities package that included unlimited laundry. They did an excellent job washing and pressing our clothes. We left the ship with no dirty clothes.

pbSteve, you must have a great plan-ATT tells me I will be charged $2.49 per minute on the ship by Cellular at Sea.

It is not really formal any more but cruise elegant. As others have mention there will be a wide variety of clothing. For most of our cruises we brought nice dress type clothes but on our last two cruises, we have dressed down since we had spent enough of pictures. If you plan to purchase a lot of pictures then by all means dress to the nines and enjoy.
I hope you have a great cruise.

We have sailed on this ship 4 times and enjoyed each one. The crew was always hard working and willing to serve. The cruise director on our last trip lost all concern for family entertainment. He had no problem using the profanity on stage even during children and family events. The music was much more of the rap and hip-hop more than we would have liked. A few times they played song with profanity during the day on the Lido deck when many children were present. We did find some of the entertainment that we enjoy and overall had a great time.

As slow as the service is, you need unlimited time. I hope they can improve the speed.

Does anyone wear a watch anymore?

I do not prepay at the time of booking since I like to control my money as long as possible. I have called a week in advance a paid them. I also purchased cruise cash (OBC) at the same time for what we plan to spend.

There will be a note in your cabin and a credit on the Sign and Sail card. We brought our email proof of purchase just in case there was a problem.

There a few national chain stores along with dozens of tourist type stores.

On one cruise we only had $50.00 on our sign and sail card but I think Carnival is smart enough not to loss money on any of us.

They could have just given you a bottle, right, or bought some cruise cash or casino credit. I hope you have a good cruise.

Thanks for your review!

I hope the cruise lines will find away to allow some of the crew to go home to check on their families.

We are thinking of and praying for all of the crew and families that have been endangered by Typhoon Haiyan. We met so many great crew members from the Philippines on the ships who were working to support their families. I know this difficult time to be away from home. God bless you.

Curacao is a distant foriegn port under the Passenger Vessel Service Act so it does not apply so I would be acting Carnival to explain there policy. I did see in the cruise contract were disembarking at another port is not allowed.

We purchased suite package on the Oosterdam that include unlimited laundry. It was a great deal that included booze, wine, robes, steakhouse, drink cards, and the laundry. We used the laundry everyday. It is a little funny that we do not drink but having been on several Carnival cruises, I thought I could sale the booze to recover some of our money but I could not find any takers on the Oosterdam.

Thanks, Maxiecat3, I could not remember the name of the law. Here is a link that explains the law. It has nothing to do with modern security concerns but an old law designed to protect American flagged ships ( it worked really well).

There are certain laws governing cruises that does not allow passengers leaving at another port of call other that the port of embarkation. Fines are accessed on passengers for this an Carnival will pass those along to the guest.

I would not take my child to the "family friendly" comedy.

Some of us like doing what we know. In most ports there are new things to do or some of us just like being on the ship, cruising to anywhere. We have sailed on one ship 4 times. We did this mainly because we received a very good price that we did not want to pass up.

Never been on this ship but when we sailed on Holland America it was also most silent at night-compared to our recent spring break cruise on Carnival with girls gone wild (guys too).
Am I crazy??

You will have a good time, sure at times one of you will stay with the child while the other goes off to enjoy certain activities (if you chose).
