  1. I just got off the Navigator of the Seas 4 day cruise today.  I went on with low expectations.  I am happy to report that the MDR food was outstanding!  Everything was delicious.  This opinion was shared by all 4 of the people in our party.

The butter chicken was a real standout.  Everything was served fresh and hot.  The keylime pie was off the hook.  My grandson love the lasagna followed by the chicken parm.  (he has an insatiable appetite at 13 years old).   I loved the fish offerings.  They were seasoned and cooked perfectly.

All that being said,  kudos to the team who makes this happen night after night.

I think the original question wasn’t asking permission, but wondering the chances on any consequences. I think most will agree the chances of getting caught are slim, and that the consequences wouldn’t be big.

My thoughts as well.  First time caught would probably be a warning,  as long as no one was acting the fool.  Even then probably just a warning.

This makes no sense at all.  Kidnappers are not after wallets and phones, they want a ransom paid.  If you arrive at Labadee on a cruise ship, you have already proven you have a lot more money than the average Haitian. As far as the guarded peninsula, ships have turned away from Labadee in the past due to boats and jetskis in the area.  How is the cruise line going to get all passengers back to the ship safely if there is an uprising in the area after a ship has docked?

Your last sentence makes a good point.   And I highly doubt the few guards that are there are going to risk their lives for a bunch of Americans.

I never considered Greenland before tbh. We're doing a 9 night next week but the original plan was to give my dh Alaska as a surprise this August to celebrate our 15th. We'd then travel next June.

But as I said I've not gotten some income I was expecting so I'm not sure we'll be able to do Alaska.

To me personally,   a cruise to Greenland would be a greater surprise than a trip to Alaska.   How many people can say they have been to Greenland?    I would even consider sailing with a ship full of New Yorkers to get there, lol.  Alaska will always be there.  Cruises to Greenland may not.  Have fun whatever you decide.

My parents were considering sailing on the Achille Lauro in 1985 to tick off a long standing European cruise bucket list item that my dad wanted to do, but my mom convinced him to do a land tour of England and northern Europe instead. My dad never questioned her vacation choices again after that.

I remember that tragic incident very well.

good lord, the crew is not your grandkids.  Yes, it may be a thoughtful gesture (in YOUR mind) but frankly it is demeaning and belittling.  Give them cash and a good review - that is what the crew wants.  Also, referring to a crew member as the "washy washy girl" says a lot, and not in a good way.

  7. My wife likes to buy large chocolate bars,  like Cadbury or Ghirardelli.   She hands them out to whoever she wants.   Waiter, headwaiter, washy washy girl, Stewart. They are always surprised and genuinely appreciative.  Stewart told us he was going to save it to take home to his daughter as he was heading home the following week.   So yeah,  chocolate is great.

This. The only time I had an item confiscated, it was my responsibility to claim it in the terminal after disembarking. Since it was a pocket knife/utility tool I had found (and not knowing it was not allowed) I did not bother reclaiming it. I was not given a claim check.

No claim checks given.  You sea pass alerts them as you disembark.  They will give it to you right before you get off the ship.

How Kosher are you? If strict how can you eat off of a plate that probably at some point had shrimp or pork on it? Will you need paper plates and plastic silverware?

Princess will give you all of that.
