jonj, I notice you used Danish Krona for your boat tour. Did you notice if they accepted Euros in either Denmark or Norway at all.Hubby seems to remember that some places did last time we were there.Have gone through all your Cruise Compasses. Thanks, great reading.Leany:D
We actually didn't use the local currency I was quoting the cost but used a credit card to pay. They did accept euros as well.

That is correct the drink prices, at least on our cruise, included the tips. However I am not sure how it will work for Med cruises and VAT tax. Maybe someone with more experience can supply more information.

You can also walk once outside the port to the nearest tram station - about a 15 min walk.
Considering the town is only a 20 min ride I would opt for a taxi or shuttle.

That is correct no lobster except the upcharge. From what I have read it is common on cruises originating in a European port.

Brugge - where the ship docks is a working port and you are not allowed to walk around. Shuttle to outside the port gate is provided without charge. Brugge center is approximately a 20 min drive away.
There was a shuttle to the city available right outside the ship for €20 per person round trip. Taxis were available outside the port gate. They were mini van ones and charged per person. There weren't many and not sure if the cost.
There were also buses outside the port gate which seem to have been pre-reserved called cruise express.
We had pre-reserved a taxi which cost €50 each way

The weather on this cruise has been cool and they haven't had the air conditioning on much or not on very high. It has been comfortable.

Everyone has been dressed nice each evening for dinner. Formal nights have seen tuxes, suits, formal gowns and pretty dresses. Have also seen men with jackets but no ties. So a bit of everything.
Thanks for the kind words. I didn't want to do a play by play review of our days and cannot compete with some of the witty reviews I have seen. Wanted to supply some of the information I was looking for when researching and will post a recap in the next few days.
Dinner on night 11 was in the dining room and it was very good.
Duck terrine
Escargot
Prime rib

Day 11 - at sea
It is a very windy day so windy they closed the open decks. Not a whole lot to do on the ship. With it being the last day at sea I would have thought they would have much more going on.

A bit out or order. We had breakfast in the dining room today. Deck 5 was a small buffet area and then off the menu.

Day 10 - sea day and third formal night.
Today we had a letter in our room that all non-EU passport holders had to turn in their passports for Belgium authorities and they will be returned once we leave Belgium on night 12. I went about 12pm and it took about 20 min to get through the line.
Had lunch in the dining room and the menu was different from the other day.

Dinner on day 9 was in Chops. I didn't take photos, however the veal chop and the dry age porterhouse were really good.

We docked at the new terminal which is not near the city center. Definitely need transportation to get there. I think it is about four miles.

Day 9 Tallinn
If you plan on walking to Old Town it is about 20-30 min depending on how quickly you walk. It is uphill. Charming town but not much to do. We were in port today 7am-3pm. We didn't head into town until 9am and places were still closed other than the souvenir market and some cafes.

What should I take note of
in Holland America Line
Posted
Last time I sailed on HAL was fourteen years ago. I am sure many things have changed. We sailed on the Zuiderdam in the Caribbean in a suite. I know the suite categories have changed but it was a full suite, similar to category SB now. If I remember correctly cocktails are not served in the lounge for suite guests like there is on other cruise lines, RCCL, Disney, etc. I don't remember is soft drinks and bottled water was available in the lounge.
What should I be aware of that is new / changed with HAL. Sailing on the Eurodam at the end of January 2018 with my husband. We have booked a SC Neptune Suite. We were also considering Celebrity but the price on this sailing was too good to pass up.
Do I need to prebook specialty restaurants? If yes how long prior to boarding do reservations open?
Internet - I do need to check email for work purposes (self employed), cost and options?
Thank you for any information anyone can provide to these questions and looking forward to tips and hints
