Yes.  If the cruise is also sold as 2 segments you would be replenished at the start of the second segment regardless of how the cruise was booked

That is good news.....so if I have this correct; if a cruise is sold as either 2 seven days or 1 fourteen, you still get 2 minibar setups?

  2. I too would recommend the Embera excursion. Just let the people know that you need help getting into and out of the canoe. You do wear a life vest.....the canoe is not fast.......depending on which part of the river and how much rain they have had determines the depth. They do have crafts and will take US$, but please don't take large bills. Make it 1's, 5's, 10's or 20's so you can be as close to the amount of what you want to purchase; if you do buy something.

My wife and I are taking our first cruise to Hawaii out of San Francisco on April 21st.

We were hoping we could get some input on which Road to Hana excursion to book from passengers who have taken these excursions in the past.  We always book excursions through Princess and they offer one excursion Hana Road Adventure & Picnic in an 8 passenger limo van (9 hours) and a second excursion Adenture to Hana on a 20 passenger bus (9.75 hours).

We did the Princess excursion....the one that is the 8 person van, and that is the one I would recommend. Much more personable, quicker to get on and off the van at the various stops and the seats were comfortable.

The only way I would rent a car to do that drive is if I was staying on the island as the drive is long and longer if you do numerous stops to see the sights. Plus traffic coming back to Lahaina can get quite heavy.......too much risk for missing the ship.

We just got off the Crown last week.  We purchased the soda and more package and received the tumbler.  I just checked and it holds 16 oz with no ice.  It is double walled as well.  The top does not have a straw but has a slide you use to open up the top.

Now I wouldn't mind getting one of those...........much better than the ones they used to give out. But since they haven't given me a tumbler in the last couple of years, I won't be expecting one on any of my upcoming cruises.

    - the standard CC mini on the Dolphin Deck- 302 sq ft.

    - the minis on Baja and Caribe on the corners of the "bump out"- eg. C503/ C504- possibly 280 sq ft.

    1. Does anyone have any experience with the minis on the bump out? Better view? More/less space?

I have been on the Coral twice, first time C728 and second time C727. Both are the last cabins aft on a bump out section. As for the difference in size that you noticed........the balcony was a little smaller. The room seemed to be the same size as other mini suites that I have been on.

First image is of the view from C727 looking aft.

Second image is looking forward and shows (somewhat) that area of a bump out section. While some of the cabins in the bump out sections are uncovered, others are particularly covered as you can see on the image.

    I apologize. I misunderstood.

The layout in my mind is a different matter altogether. I love it. Far, far better than the old days of the single lines.

The current arrangement is reminiscent of a buffet in, say, Vegas. One is free to stroll around to each of the different stations before making a decision on exactly what to get.

With this freedom, you’ll find that it does get kinda crowded from time to time.

Add to this the fact that if one chooses to remain on Lido while moving from aft toward midship and beyond (and vice versa), you WILL transit the WFM. Seems to me the designers didn’t think this through throughly.

    IMO:

    Overall Design - 7

Food Layout and Presentation - 10

    Food Quality - 2

I was on the Caribbean last Jan. and on the Emerald this last Oct./Nov. and what I appreciated about the WFM (on the Caribbean) was that I didn't have to go all the way back into the buffet to get a dessert; as opposed to the HC (on the Emerald) where I had to go all the way into the buffet.

Unfortunately those ships only have so much room to work with. While I am not a big fan of the "Royal" class of Princess ships, I do think that class has the best buffet layout.

That would be good news to us also. We enjoyed the Caribbean Princess buffet layout, seating and selections better than on other Grand Class ships. The Caribbean also added Planks and Steamers which we thought were nice. Wonder if the Emerald will also do the same or similar.

I want to say that Planks and Steamers will be added but am not positive on that point. The crew member I talked to did mention that the seating area will be worked to make it more open.

  8. Yes, you can US$ to pay for crafts that you buy from the Embera. The price range.....hmmmmm. You can spend as little as $10 or over $200. I bought a woven basket for $150 and the spouse bought several items that cost $10 each. What I would recommend is that you take an assortment of US$ so that they don't have to make change. In other words, don't use a $50 bill to pay for a $10 item. Be as close as to the cost of the item as possible.

Another thing, don't dicker about price, but rather ask "is this your best price".

  9. Have been on both of those ships. Royal once and Coral twice (with a third already booked on her). For me, it is no choice I would pick the Coral any day over the Royal. While I do like all of the different Princess ships that I have been on, the Royal is at the bottom of my list and the Coral is at the top.

The Royal is much larger (but less space per person) than the Coral and the Royal has a much better buffet.

The Coral is smaller (but more space per person) and has a real promenade. Plus (IMHO) the Coral has more outdoor viewing spaces.

We also like having a cabin somewhere in the aft half of the ship, so for us the cabin your TA is suggesting is fine.

After you have cruised a few times, you will have a better idea of what size ship suites your family the best.
