  1. My March 18 sailing just sold out, but the Silhouette and Reflection April sailings still have availability, and are still reasonably priced. Several of the large online agents are offering full perks as well. The April prices look to be about what we paid a year ago when we booked the March trip. Its after final pay, so they won't get any better, especially with many this season selling out...

  2. Thank you for the help information.

Also, they block out dining times when you book online. If you go to the table that is set up when you board, you will be able to secure just about any dining time you want. I have booked online in the past, and have found it easier just to book when I board. If you have any onboard credit, you can use it this way as well.

  3. I am going on my first Celebrity cruise on the Silhouette.

I am looking at the Speciality Dining Packages.

Can you purchase them onboard? Or, you have pre order in advance of your cruise?

Once onboard do they offer a discounted speciality dinner?

Do you have to reserve in advance date and time? Or, can you wait to reserve until you on board?

Can you go to a different restaurant each night of your package?

Is the Unlimited Dining Package still available?

Since this is my first Celebrity, what are your thoughts on the speciality restaurants? I have eaten in speciality restaurants on other cruise lines.

Oh, the Oceanview café, the Aqua spa café, and the Mast Grill for burgers, all great!!

You can purchase on board. The package seems to be well discounted with 3 dinners at $109. We did the 3 dinner and the 4 dinner packages on recent back to back cruises and it worked out well. We reserved all reservations for the week on the first day of each week, but were able to change some later in the week(although some restaurants were booked solid and could not be reserved later). If you want to take a chance and book as you go, there is always a discount on the first night, and then, depending on the number of bookings, you might get offered a discount later in the week.

We enjoyed all of the restaurants on the Silhouette, but our favorite, both weeks, was the Lawn Club Grill. We used one of our dinners as the week 2 'embarkation lunch' at Sushi on 5 (there is an a la carte menu, but with the package, you order what you want, as little or as much). We also enjoyed Murano both weeks, Tuscan Grill once, and Qsine once. I was surprised that I liked the changes in Tuscan Grill, but it was a top notch meal, and I am basically over Qsine.....cute approach, quirky, fun environment, but average quality, and just too much food. We left miserable, again.....we have crossed it off the list for next year.

I will say that the remainder of the meals that we had in the MDR were very good, including the service. We had always purchased the Ultimate Dining Package in years past, and I will honestly say that we didn't miss out on anything by scaling it down this year.

  5. When you can't get near the bar it's kind of hard to find a favorite bartender let alone tip one. I don't think the package helps anyone let alone the servers. If you and your spouse each drink at least 5 drinks a day it pays for itself but the whole concept has an adverse effect on the whole cruise experience.

I am sorry this was your experience! We just left the Silhouette after 2 weeks onboard. Most people, it appeared, had the beverage package, and many, like myself and my group, upgraded to the premium package. We never had any issues getting drinks at any of the bars; we visited the Sunset, Martini and World Class bars, and ordered Evians all day at the pool bar. We dined at 8:30 each night, so maybe our cocktail hour of 7:30pm and after dinner drink at 10pm played a part in that, but we enjoyed the drinks, the service and the venues! Also, we were able to get seats at each bar, or at least the gals did!

  6. Yes, absolutely! Here's a link to their website.

    http://www.barrachina.com/

Download their app and get a free pina colada. They have a nice (enough) bar in the center courtyard. It's my "go to" for San Juan stops. The Puerto Rican appetizer is good, too... a variety of things that go great with drinks.

    Address:

    104 Calle Fortaleza

It's not far from the dock but it IS uphill.

Great, thanks for this and the address as well! We also just returned from this Silhouette sailing but heading back out on the Reflection in March and this is officially on my 'what to do in PR' list!!

  7. This is the one point where I disagree.

Puerto Rico has a lot of great places for dinner. In particular I recommend Barrachina - the birthplace of the Pina Colada (yes, there is some controversy here, but I am in the Barrachina camp).

We've done this cruise a couple of times and are looking forward to doing it again in April.

    Thanks for posting.

    Mike

Can you just stop in for a pina colada? We always have dinner at the Lawn Club on PR nights, and we can't break tradition.....but I would love to have a drink there!

  8. I just returned from a B2B, first week in concierge, second week in a regular cabin. The "extras" mentioned above are for fee. The free concierge options included a few additional breakfast meats and omelet selections, basic breakfast fare, while the regular stateroom was more of a continental breakfast selection. Having said that, we wrote in 'smoked salmon platter' and 'hashbrowns' on both weeks, received them everytime, were never charged for anything. (be sure to write 'toasted' on your bagel, though, or it comes cold!:) )

  9. We just left the Silhouette, and they advertised weekly packages for $99, limit of 40 sold. I don't know if they sold more than that, but we were able to use the PG twice a day, every day, with no crowd...It was worth the $$ spent!

  10. We booked this cabin intentionally, taking a chance with our first oceanview. We loved it! Close to grab a bottle of water, head up to the martini bar or casino, easy trip back to the cabin after an excursion. We were happily surprised, and when we choos OV again, we will try to book this cabin.

    • Thanks 1
  11. Thank you both! This is what we were hoping to hear. We wanted to meet with him/her as soon as we board and book our excursion, as it is the next morning and we wanted to use our OBC. Are they fairly visible as we board?

Also, as a group of 10 meeting on the ship, we will be boarding at different times. How will that work for the luncheon. The latest to arrive will be myself and 2 others; we should be boarding at 12:30. Can we join the others already at lunch in the MDR?

  12. We will be boarding next week to experience the 'new and improved' concierge class with a dedicated concierge. We have chosen AQ the last few years, but prices this year did not suit our budget. We were able to upgrade to Concierge after they appeared to be slow moving and prices dropped.

Since we are a group of 10, traveling in 5 cabins, we were hoping to present our Concierge of a short request list of specialty dining reservations and one shore excursion, in hopes that it would make our embarkation day a little more relaxed! We had heard good things when the program started, just wondering now that the Caribbean season is in full swing, if others have had good experiences. We will be on the Jan 22 and 29 sailings, Silhouette.

  13. The cruise I was on was something I had never experienced before on

Celebrity. I ended up writing a letter to HQ (a real letter, not an email).

    about it.

And I remember threads on here...some folks attacked saying I should

have known better:rolleyes: than going on a short cruise in March.

Other folks said they sailed the week before and others the week after

and both of those cruises had no issues.

It happened my week only......we had kids who were removed from

    the ship.

I don't think Celebrity is doing short spring break cruises anymore.

I also remember, as I was on one of the Connie 5 nights that was 2 weeks before, and I felt lucky after reading the horror stories. Having said that, I think last spring we didn't hear of any issues, and I even sailed the first week on April on Navigator of the Seas (6 night) and we were free of spring breakers. I think that 2015, a large travel agent booked a huge block of cabins for a certain school or schools, and that's what led to the debacle.

  14. If you google "Cococay beach bed" the first result seems to show the beds. Looks like they're poster style beds with fabric over the top and moveable curtains on all four sides. Can anyone confirm?

We're going to reserve this instead of the clamshell loungers so DH can move the curtains around to keep the direct sun off him...he's really not a fan of sun and doesn't sound like the clamshells will be a good choice because of this.

I, however, will be out on my floating beach mat with a "Cocoloco"... ;)

Anyone know where the beds are located? We are going for a bungalow or bed, which ever is available, and we are sailing in 2 weeks, so I will be glad to take photos are looks for things for anyone else and report back.
