  1. Hi Nhsaltshaker,

Regarding the internet....it was sporatic, but we were able to connect during the two week cruise. We have an i phone and was able to text/facetime in the cabin..to others with an i phone. From day to day..hour to hour..the ability to connect changed. We only reached out once during the beginning of the second week and was ale to connect.

The last day, there was no internet until dinner time and this made it very difficult to print boarding passes. We went back to internet cafe at 11pm. and was able to print boarding passes in five minutes. Earlier, at 9:30 pm, there were at least 15+ trying to get boarding passes..the computers just were spinning.

    Brandee

Thanks Brandee! Shall I assume the internet package is the one where you pay by the minute and not the 'new' way (Medallion) where you pay by the day?

  2. We are just back form the Caribbean Princess (3/18-4/1/2018).

    Captain was Marco Fortezze

    Cruise Director was Steve Campbell

    Entertainment Director was Lee Childers

    Maitre d' was Angelo Balbiana

Great Crew, Great itinerary, Great Ship, GREAT CRUISE!!!

    Awesome! Thanks!

  3. Does anyone have a current (2018) wine list for the Princess ships?

Would love to see it! Also, are they still selling multi bottle wine packages?

There is a list where you can pre-buy on the Princess Cruise Personalizer, under Onboard Reservations-Princess Cellars. It's not the whole list, but if you see something on it you like, perhaps it's best to order ahead of time.

  4. Only one carry on and one checked bag allowed per person on land portion, I have done the Conn. Tour twice. Your checked bag (on the land portion) actually leaves on another truck and not the bus or train you will be traveling on. You are allowed to send more luggage to the ship, without traveling with you on the land portion. That works for people who like to dress formal.

I highly suggest checking out the Alaska board as well as this link https://www.princess.com/learn/faq_answer/cruisetours/cruisetours_alaska.jsp

    You'll have a great time.

  5. The aft corner balconies are our favorite balcony class cabins. We usually grab C752 or C753 as the balcony is bigger. They have a near 270 degree view with a slight wrap around railing. They are sheltered, but may get some sun, and are almost always usable underway. Your cabin door is at the end of a small hallway so it's quiet.

Just booked the aft corner, were there security cameras on your balcony? If so, did it bother you?

  6. Our itinerary tells us that as part of our land portion, we will be transported from McKinley Lodge to the Kenai Lodge via motor coach and along the way will make a stop in Anchorage for lunch on our own. Can you tell me WHERE in Anchorage we will be dropped off and how long we will have for this stop?

    Thank you in advance!

Last May, I motorcoached from McKinley Lodge to Kenai on the Con. Tour. They give you a map of where they drop you off. I think it was around 3 and 1/2 hours. It was very close to a liquor store. Lunch and beer were great at the Glacier Brewhouse. We had time to walk around and shop. Did I mention the liquor store? :)

It's a long day on the road and a pleasant stop to get off the bus. Don't fall asleep when you get back on, the scenery is beautiful.

  7. I read the article, thank you for posting.

When it comes to technology, I'm as dumb as dirt.

Could someone tell me, if I'm visiting Princess Cay on a Princess non-Medallion ship, am I able to take advantage of the (fast) internet? I understand I would have to purchase the internet plan.

    Thanks!

  8. We just did the Land, Sea and Beach day with Spencer and the folks that did the Anse Chastenet plus Jalousie snorkel were on the same boat we were - we dropped them at Anse Chastenet on the way to Soufrière and they rejoined us while we were ending our trip at Jalousie, so their tour was also a full day as others have indicated.

IMO, the snorkel only tour is a better way to go, especially if you like some independence. You aren't missing much by missing the volcano or mud baths, and you're not missing ANYTHING by missing the lunch - it was extremely meager and the food was poorly cooked. We would have vastly preferred to be on our own to stop into a local restaurant. Live and learn!

Thank you for your input. I just booked with them yesterday wanting to do the mud bath. Could you explain why you didn't like the mud bath? Thanks.

  9. I love cruising solo. I also use the Kindle method, it seems the only time I have to read is on a ship!

Usually on longer cruises I pick a couple of nights to dine with a large table (especially when there are no shows I care to attend). It's great to meet other people. Many times I've dined a Specialty restaurants by myself and plan to do so again, twice, on my next cruise. As someone stated, you can get through dinner a lot faster if you wish to see a show. (p.s. it's sooo much easier to find a seat in the theater when you are just 'one'.) :)

Also consider the Chef's Table. A little expensive, but fantastic.

There have been quite a few nights where I got room service, and the delivered pizza is awesome.

Now I'm contemplating the Ultimate Balcony Dinner, I loved it the last year, with my cabin mate. Is it possible to only pay for half?

If you decide to eat in the buffet, consider bringing a sweater or something else to 'claim' your table should you wish to get up and get something else.

You'll be amazed at how relaxing cruising solo can be.

  11. Question for those who have sailed on CB. I will be staying in Cabin C-749. Anyone who's stayed in this cabin; please provide comments for me. Thanks. also did someone say drydock was Mar 11. Is this to swap bedding out; or will they be doing other things; like carpet, paint etc? Thanks for any feedback. Cheers

Regarding the dry dock, that post was from last year. Here's what I found on the website.

  12. I had a great time with Spencer Ambrose Sea Land and Beach adventure - taking a dip in the mud baths, washing off under a waterfall, cruising the coast, and stopping at Sugar Beach for snorkeling and a nice lunch. Great family-owned company, owner-father drove the boat, daughter onboard to help. Couldn't have been friendlier or more efficient.

Thanks so much for the feedback!

  13. We will be doing the Denali Explorer cruise tour which starts in Fairbanks and we plan to arrive a day early. Princess will inform us of the hotel 21 days prior but we will need a hotel the night before and would prefer to be in the same hotel. Anyone have an experience with what hotel(s) they use in Fairbanks?

I arrived a day early before my tour in May. Shortly after, I booked the cruise I added an extra night. It was the Princess Lodge. Stayed there both nights. My suggestion is to book the extra night as soon as you can while they still have room. Ask your TA or call Princess yourself. Once the hotel fills up, they start using others.

Another suggestion, rent a car for the day before. I found one at the airport... a reputable company...($25) and returned it the night before the tour started. Grabbed a cab back to the hotel for about $15. There really isn't anything to walk to from the Lodge. Just a restaurant or two.
