  1. Are you doing the Northbound tour? Our land begins, May 23, 4 days and cruise ends June 3 Southbound on Princess Star.

I hope you have better luck than we did. Went to our TA office yesterday. Still was not showing anything available on EZ air going from DFW to FAI or anything available returning from Vancouver. Our TA called Princess to see if available, other than spending over $1000.00 per person, NOTHING going or returning home, while the American Airlines site showed available still at a lesser price than EZair . Had to makes changes from Vancouver...the only flight we could get returning the day the ship docked was sold out.

So, next thing we did was book a flight to Seattle and then, get home. Still a paid a lessor price than EZ Air at $1000.oo

    Whew....

We, however, will were able to purchase DFW to FAI. thru American Airlines on their site and then the SEA to DFW again American Airlines site. A lot of trouble to go through if only, EZ Air had more seats available to purchase.

Right now I'm looking at flights available on May 22, stops twice, on American Airlines, then, one stop on flight home AA, on June 3rd for $825.

Only four seats left, but that changes almost by the hour.

Flying on May 22 (2 stops) and coming home June 4 (1 stop), I see a fare for $732. Four seats left. This seems to change daily. Seats as well as fares. Seat assignments are never guaranteed with any flight, cruise or not.

May I suggest you keep checking and let your TA know if you found something? If your TA can't make any headway with Princess, maybe you can change flights on your own and then notify him/her???

  2. I've done more than 10 cruises solo, two with a land tour.

You'd be surprised (or maybe not) of all the people that 'feel bad for you'...really???... and adopt you as one of their own, buy you drinks, etc.

I made great friends on my land tours, including my last Alaska tour. It was a Princess Connoisseur tour.

What makes it more awesome, you usually have an extra seat next to you on buses and trains because it's hard to sell a solo fare.

Trust me, you'll have a great time!

  3. Correct--AIBP includes ALL beverages with a cost of $10 or less. There are a very few mixed drinks not included. Bottles of wine are 40% off if you have the package' date=' but since you'll both have the package just get the wine by the glass--no charge that way if under $10.

This includes all juices, sodas, bottled water, specialty coffees or teas, brewed coffee and tea, mocktails, etc.

One thing--on those rare drinks that are over $10, you get no credit for the package. You pay the full price of the drink. However, unlike some lines, drinks at this price are quite rare. Almost everything is included in the package.[/quote']

Getting wine by the glass...thanks for the tip!

  4. Thanks for all your replies.

    Here's what I did.

I figured out what flights I might take (flexible was cheaper) on the Princess website. Then I went to the individual airline sites and enrolled in their frequent flier mileage plan and entered whatever personal information I could, including the Known Traveler Number.

At that point, I was issued a frequent flier card with number for both airlines I am planning to fly.

When Princess opened up their phones again, I called and requested the flights. I requested they use my KT# and was put on hold while they called their airline dept.

They told me my KT# was already in the system, which tells me they either pulled it from my passport, or, from the airlines. Either way, I'm a happy camper.

It does appear, like other poster's said, that you can add that information directly to the airline's website after the fact. Which answers my question...things have changed since I last booked a flight. :)

Thanks again for all your help! Oh! I was also able to 'request' seats...even though they are never guaranteed.

  5. Hi all,

We have made a down payment on a cruise. We didn't buy travel insurance within the required time period, figuring losing the deposit would be cheaper. We were going to purchase insurance when making final payment. (I know most policies don't cover pre-existing conditions)

I'm looking at air fares that are just coming out in time for our cruise next year. They are insanely cheap.

My question to you wonderful people is...

Can I purchase travel insurance for the air fare, and then add the cruise to the insurance just before final payment?

    Thanks in advance!

  6. Hey! This is Sandra. I believe we are on the same cruise. Did you have to rebook your cruise? I am trying to see if the new deal is good for us. decisions, decisions.

I like the onboard credit idea bc that could be used for excursions. I do not drink so I could just buy the soda package and still come out ahead. DH said, it did not matter to him either way. :)

I am going to do a mock reservations and see if the price has gone up...I hope not. ;)

    Hi nana,

No, you don't have to rebook. The price did not change. You and I are on the same cruise and I called and got my SnS promotion yesterday, which I posted on our roll call.

Call Princess or your TA!!! :) :) :)

p.s. If you see a $100 difference on your mock booking and you are a past passenger, it's because you are not logged in while trying to mock book. It will show a price of $100 more because it doesn't automatically recognize your loyalty if you're not logged in.

  7. Yeah, just contacted princess (twice) to "fix the personalizer"... first princess CSR was very helpful and sent a confirmation email from princess that verifies the S&S package for this particular cruise, however she didn't know why it wasn't showing up in my personalizer. So I called the 800 number again, but selected the option for personalizer assistance... this CSR again verified he could see the promotion was applied, however didn't understand why it wasn't on my page... then suggested I contact my TA for verification. WAIT a minute, what would my TA have to do with their internal software issues...?

Anyway, thanks for all your replies... I believe I'm covered with the direct email from PCL

You should print the confirmation email and bring it with you, just to avoid any problems on your vacation.

  8. Okay so here is the result:

    - princess did not actually book the return flight for whichever reason. They are still investigating it.

    - princess is mailing a cheque for the amount charged by Delta.

    - Princess offered a $50 future travel credit for each of them... Which I think is kinda of a joke given the situation. Thoughts?

I'm glad Princess admitted their mistake and reimbursed you the money for the tickets. But, yeah, it seems $50 X 2 is a bit stingy. Glad it got resolved.

  9. We took the land tour/cruise to Alaska a few years ago on the Coral. My least favorite part of the trip was on the train to Whittier. Very cramped, forced to sit at a table for four, no other choices, did not know these people, very little leg room. Couldn't wander around, everyone was up doing the same. Has anyone taken this route since or is Princess continuing to do dining car to Whittier? Planning another trip to AK and want to avoid that at all costs. Was a miserable 7 hrs enroute to the Coral. Would be so much nicer if they did the dome cars they used further north going to McKinley Lodge, etc. Any advice appreciated, thanks.

I also did that route years ago. This time my last land stop is Kenai, and it uses the bus instead of the train to the ship.
