  1. Friend is on Adventure - no more priority boarding unless you are Pinnacle or in a Suite.

No welcome party only a party for Diamonds and above.

He is top cruiser (almost pinnacle). No pictures, no champagne, nothing. They just say he is top cruiser and that is it.

He was also told that as of Oct 1st lots of changes including no more D in the Lounges. DL will be for D+ and CL will be for Pinnacles and suites, just as the rumors have been saying for months.

Please ask your friend who is the source of his information re Oct. 1?

The Adventure sailed from San Juan on current cruise. As has been previously posted there is an area for priority boarding (perhaps no signage but it is there.)

Re no pictures, no champagne, nothing - every ship I have been on with Royal is different based on the ship. There is nothing that seems to be etched in stone re what to serve at top tier parties.

  2. Why should a lounge be closed for the benefit of some only. There are insufficient lounges as it is.

As for members of the "Peaknuckle"society Why?

The staff and officers only pay lip service to the disabled wishing to take in a show.

The Windjammer was open 24hrs last June on the Rhapsody of the Seas.

But the main point of my posting is that the Ship and facilities are supposed to be for ALL to enjoy.

If you want an elitist cruise then go Regent Seven Seas and such:confused:

"Peaknuckle" - what does that word mean?

Re lounge - if you are looking for somewhere to buy a drink there are many locations on the Explorer. If you are looking for someplace indoors to sit when The Star Lounge is not available, there are several areas on the ship.

The Star Lounge is a multi-purpose facility. Music. Dancing. Lectures. Zumba. "The Quest". Bingo. I am sure no one says "OH NO - Bingo took over the Star Lounge". And there are private events which do use The Star Lounge.

I was on Rhapsody in March of this year and Windjammer was not open 24 hours. No Windjammer on my last 5 cruises has been open 24 hours. Late night munchies? - call room service if you don't feel like going to the promenade cafe area.

The entire ship is not open for every guest. If I am not staying in a grande suite or larger on this class of ship I cannot sit in the "reserved" area by the pool. If I am not Diamond or above tier I am not eligible for the list of added amenities for those guests. On the Oasis and Quantum class ships there is a private dining facility - for guests in junior suites and larger.

Everything is on the Royal website.

And if next time you book a cruise you need clarification before you make a deposit, call Royal Caribbean and ask what you are entitled to for the type of stateroom you are in / your tier (frequent cruiser) level.

If you have had a problem with not being seated in "wheelchair" area during the shows then I suggest you speak with the manager at guest services. They cannot undo what was done but going forward they may be able to offer you something as a "we are sorry"...

And PS - If you are on an airplane and have not purchased a first class or business class ticket or used your points or miles for upgrading you are not entitled to those seats.

  3. Windjammer has not been 24 hours a day for many years. )I don't ever remember it being 24 hours.) But I do remember the midnight buffets. If you are hungry late night you can order from room service. Or yes go get a sandwich from the cafe.

There are specific lounges for Diamond, Diamond Plus, Pinnacle and those in Grand Suites and above. Those spaces were created for those tier cruisers so why would it impact you or your ability to enjoy your cruise?

If you have an issue with wheelchair seating you should get assistance from Royal Staff members. The bad behavior of a passenger has nothing to do with the staff. but the staff should be of assistance.

  4. I have been following all of your posts.

It must have been very scary for those impacted.

The upside (sometimes need to make lemonade from lemons) is you were not hurt; you have refunds - as you should; you have a free cruise - also as you should. Did you have any items damaged which Royal will be replacing?

You had a great captain on this cruise.

  5. Have they changed to Suite lounge only or will Diamond plus still be able to access. We are going on 6/3/2016 to Alaska and are cabins are across the hall, would convenient before Dinner.

    Thanks

    From 16-May-2016 to 22-Apr-2017

  6. Tonight we received the invite for 340 and up special surprise luncheon with an officer. This will be held in the main dining room deck five on Monday.

This morning onboard being docking in Gibraltor, the staff had another fantastic flag ceremony poolside, including fish and chips and complimentary mimosas, rum punch, bloody Mary's and a few other drinks. Officers were all walking around talking with guests. They have been very visible this cruise.

Malaga tomorrow...goodnight. 11:15 PM in our time zone!:)

    Is this on the Brilliance?

  7. Do they always seat you at a table by yourselves, or is it possible to share a table on occasion?

If the layout of the room is same as on Quantum and Anthem - there is a combo of high and low tables which are adjacent to each other. (Along the windows). Even though you have your "own" table, directly next to you can be people. We had this on one occasion and had a lovely time talking with "our table mates".

We had a cruise where one of the passengers - not even near our table - was speaking so loud it felt like he was sitting next to us. I did make a comment on his voice several evenings to the manager. I was happy when he wasn't eating at the same time as us.

  8. Are repositioning cruises from Miami to London seas ruff

Which is best. Spring or fall.

You are crossing the Atlantic Ocean. Closer on the calendar to colder weather months is generally rougher waters. I prefer spring/summer. I have spoken with others who have done fall crossings and have enjoyed. The rockiest with highest waves we ever experienced was the Tasmanian going from Australia to New Zealand.

  9. We enjoyed this benefit on Oasis last month, the food was great and service was attentive. BUT. Unfortunately they have made it difficult for JS guests to physically get into Coastal Kitchen. We were able to call for reservations just fine, but upon arrival we needed to knock on the door and wait for someone to let us in. I have no issues with not being allowed in for breakfast and lunch, that's not a benefit provided to JS, no big deal. I didn't like the half-hospitality of being invited to dine there but needing to wait outside like an intruder to be allowed in. Seems like they should be able to code keycards to allow JS access in evenings only, or at least have someone manning the door checking for eligibility (gold card or reservation).

Sometimes the person who is suppose to be at the door is seating someone else. No code keycards because they seat you. if you don't like the table where they are seating you ask for a different location. it is not half-hospitality. Coastal Kitchen is a great location for eating - great food and great service. i wish Royal had on all ships.

  10. Thank you so much.....I understand :) This is my first time with RC and I have never heard it called that. I am sorry to hear they are not very good because I was holding off booking another cruise until I got on the ship. I hear you get better deals if booked while on board. Does anyone know what incentives they offer?

your incentives are based on the type of stateroom you book - and if for a specific sailing. best incentive is on board credit. the amount of deposit is always less than if you book when not on a cruise. your discounts for booking a specific cruise are based on your tier status with Royal, the type of stateroom you are booking, and whatever promos are offered with Royal, your age and where you live.

you can also do an open booking - for a non specific date/ship - which does not give you future on board credit but for $100 USD it means when you go to book another cruise you don't have to pay a higher deposit.

we have found that some of the next cruise people are great to work with. some are not.

they should all be consistently great to work with but sadly not always the case.

  11. Does anyone who has recently sailed on Liberty know what time Shabbat services are on Friday evening? Thanks

Generally around 5:30 or 6. Based on the ship, location will change - in small area in Windjammer or in a conference room. Time and location will be printed in every Friday Cruise Compass.

  12. This cruise, there is a platinum member who received a chocolate piano.......although I'm sure many here have had them, I haven't heard of anyone else receiving one except Helen Cooper./QUOTE]

Johann worked with JD for quite some time before being promoted to HD so he learned to do things above and beyond. Johann is one of the best HDs we have ever cruised with. We also think the LA Teddy is wonderful. She and Johann make sure that all milestones are presented at the top tier party with a photo with the captain.

When we were recently on the Brilliance, all PCM cabins and all suites cabins got a chocolate piano. It's his trademark. The Platinum member was probably in a suite.

    what is JD?

  13. Cruise friends and cruise critic friends of mine know I am quite truthful.....and would not "Toy" with them.

John, my DH, took videos and I took photos tonight, unless we were dreaming.;)

These lost hours daily at noon are taking a toll on my sleeping. It's now 1:15 AM, and I'm going to bed...goodnight all.

GIOVANNI'S open for sit down b'fast for D+.... very nice! Curious if it is just for this itinerary or if they are doing something fleet-wide for D+ members (b'fast in a restaurant venue?) Can you ask the C&A loyalty ambassador.

    Thanks.

PS - the frozen drinks - I assume they were non alcoholic...

  14. Checking in at the dock in Valparaiso Chile a couple of months ago there was a very long line that was not moving. A person with a Royal badge (I know, that doesn't necessarily mean that they were actually a Royal employee) came out an ask in a loud voice if any Platinums were in line. I ask what about Pinnacles but was ignored. So we took matters in our own hands and cut the line. Turned out the line was for gold members.

We walked into the "Royal Mess" hall in Valparaiso and looked for the sign indicating suites line. The people working there in front an at door and behind the desks are not Royal employees. They are "at hire". When we walked in the front door (and we did not wait in line) we cut thru the lines to pass people to get where we needed to be, which was past all of the other lines. But that is something we knew from previous experience. I felt sorry for everyone waiting in lines when they didn't really need to. That is an issue Royal should take responsibility for.
