  1. I sailed early Nov- it was the old sh!t show.
  2. @Bibifamily let your son know there are roomier showers in the spa/gym.
  3. Yes, Thank you. Words cannot express how sorry I am to hear this. I know you had a special bond with Ted. I hope you will find peace in your amazing memories- eventually.
  4. I’ve enjoyed renting bikes. Wondering around and riding on the beach. Kayak tours also. Have to uber/lyft to/from as Nothing is walkable from ships
  5. @JamieLogical Hmmm- thanks for the heads up. 🍹 I shall toast him the next time I’m in Edge- To his happiness wherever that may be.
  6. I had a discussion with a few crew members who told me they were Chinese- 2 really big groups of over 400 each with two tour companies. There was a bit of confusion at the buffett because of the language barrier and they were really into hanging with each other and moving about in big packs. Somo folks were Not happy but I just tried to smile and made basic hand movements to communicate.
  7. We're on this sailing too-I'm thinking not a lot of kids. I sailed Meraviglia last Nov- it was a real mix, and largest % by far were chinese tourists.
  8. @ESCARGOHey Ted have any plans to sail Meraviglia again?? (have no idea if you'll even see this)
  9. For those of you curious about Ocean Cay (as I was) here are a few gems. I found a great FB page with the building of Ocean Cay (it's in Italian but just use the translate button). There are pictures from construction and a few cool architectural video renderings. Don't think I can post the FB link, but you can always look it up "Ocean Cay Msc Marine Reserve paradise" I've attached a few pictures I found of the 'island' before development, a rendering that was Not chosen (note amphitheater in the center) and an early map. I've also included a early presentation/promo for travel agents. (note the part about being able to rent a smaller island) If you're wondering; from what I've found on the interwebs the upcoming closure/construction will include some new building to house more staff and marine research folks. A possible marine research center with coral studies. Some smaller service buildings for rental and excursion operations. And of course dredging to allow bigger ships to dock. 😃COOL- right??? OceanCay promo.pdf
  10. OMG Never have I ever had fried pickles that were sweet. Ive only had dills either slices or spears. The last evening of my Merv cruise I tried the fried pickles in the pub and received small sweet gherkins in minimal batter. Is that the norm? Im thinking/hoping someone just grabbed the wrong jar. I did send them back and got a refund.
  11. @ESCARGO hey Ted it was great hanging out this week. Hope our paths will cross again. Amanda
  12. I just had a white pizza with sausage at the buffet
  13. looking forward to your adventures in Miami! I still have no idea what I'm going to do there. If you could post Ray's son's suggestions that would be great. TIA
  14. I hope he stays on for the next cruise- which I'm on
  15. @JamieLogical you have mentioned texting your group a few times; do you do that through the MSC App or mobile phone texting app (like WhatsApp)? TIA
  16. Wow. What a shock. I'm so sorry you all has this happen. I'm sad to hear about Ted. I believe he was supposed to be doing a BtoB and on my sailing next. I was looking forward to meeting him.
  17. I think this cabin is connecting to the larger cabin next to it; so probably originally meant for overflow family room- thus kids
  18. on meraviglia they took out the seldom used library/games room to add a smoke free casino annex
  19. Hola! Boo! Sky Lounge- I noted on the previous cruise the daily posted the Sky as only open 11pm to late. Is that true? Is the space open but not serving? Or is it a typo that is supposed to bwee 11AM? Are you Aurea this time?
  20. Hi There is no easy or fast public transportation option. The public transportation from JKF to the Brooklyn terminal will involve the AirTrain to: Subway, bus, & walk bus, subway, bus & walk LIRR train, subway & walk LIRR train (to Manhattan), subway, ferry & walk (there is also a fair bit of walking between stations/stops) All these options take over an hour, plus there are fees; AirTrain $8.25, (merto card only) base fare for subway and buses is $2.90. (metro card or tap with CC) LIRR $3-$12 depending on time and distance (no metro card/ ticket only at station or on app) Ferry $1.50 (ticket or tap with CC) Metro cards available at stations NY public transportation will probably be the cheapest option but certainly not the fastest or easiest. Also remember the NYC Marathon is the same day so public transport will be heavily in use. I think this is why it has been suggested you take a Uber/Lyft/car service/shuttle for point to point service for your stated "easiest/fastest". Safe travels!
  21. Hey @JamieLogical hope you had a great day at sea. I also hope the crap weather we've had in NY metro hasn't effected you. Looks to be Sunny and warm for your return Wednesday.
