  1. The scenario was one year not over 5. As for revenue today being all that counts, in my mind that is just plain sort sighted. And considering the years that I have run a successful private practice I think I will just keep doing things my way and the rest of you can all argue about how RCI should be doing things as I have zero control over any of that.

I completely agree with you as to why we cruise and how we book. I don't feel entitled to anything from a program that could have its plug pulled tomorrow.

So you would rather have a client say "I am going to spend 12k with you in 5 visits over the next year" then walk out of your office after paying only 1/5 of that amount....That client a month later gets hit by a bus..

Or would you rather have a client that's spends the 12k in a single visit?

I think we all know which client most would prefer.

Of course this is from a business perspective only. Run your business as you see fit, it's made you successful... Clearly others will as well. Business models evolve and adapt to unique environments and the complexity there of.

  2. It would make no difference to me if someone dropped 12K in my office all at once or by making 5 trips in. Both scenarios are quite beneficial to the bottom line at the end of the year. I am tempted to believe the 5 timer might be of more value as the repeat visits indicate they may be back for more in the future rather than being a one time wonder.;)

    What is the timeframe?

Would you rather have that 12k in 1 year or over 5?. Too many variables in the 5 year span. Revenue today is what counts... Not tomorrow. Tomorrow never comes as it is always today.

Diamond/+ will always complain not all but most. We can care less about any loyalty program.. We cruise because we enjoy it and book the appropriate room for the experience we want not what we are hoping for or feel entitled to.

  3. Just to be clear, we had 11730 (same suite, but on the starboard side) in April and I would ABSOLUTELY book it again, if available, especially over a traditional GS. Once the category (and related pricing) changes to an ATS, it might be a different story. But then you are not comparing it to a GS anymore...

We toured a traditional GS on debarkation day and decided that we had done MUCH better with our choice.

    To each his own...

We did not tour the aft GS's on 12 or 14, so I will not comment either way on those.

Exactly... To each their own. We HAVE actually stayed in a traditional GS many times and much prefer over the new GS/AS.

  4. We have read several reports lately that JS were not allowed to dine in CK on Oasis and Allure unless they were a guest of a Pinnacle or suite guest. Also read that is was determined by each sailing depending upon if there were lots of Pinnacle members on board. Have not seen anything in writing from RCL that JS are allowed in CK on Oasis class--have you seen an official notice from RCL? When we were on Oasis in Feb. they said that they were talking about opening it up to JS, but it was not formalized yet.

As of right now, there are no other Grand Suites available for our sailing, so we are happy to keep 14730 and I'll be posting our opinion and lots of photos in October.

Yes, when we sailed, JS was not allowed in CK. there were a few people who were upset by this and there was even 1 couple that would try to sneak into CK and the lounge every night. Rami was on his toes. It was quite entertaining.

  5. Personally if it were me I would be changing to another GS. I have been on this public balcony before it was a cabin and it is much smaller than the others on deck 11 & 12.

Deck 11 11330 and 11730 has the largest balcony space. I would not book the deck 12 or 14 of this cabin which will be a Aqua suite soon.

Just my thoughts after sailing on Oasis and Allure numerous times

Agree. We had 11330 on oasis back in November. Would not book again. Sure the balcony is large but most is wasted/unusable space. Would take a traditional GS over these any day. Didn't care for the cabin or balcony. I guess if you like watching them practice for the Aqua show everyday it might suit you well, for us it was blah. We know people who stayed on deck 12 and have the same thoughts. Deck 14 is a total waste if you expect to spend any time on your balcony not standing and expect to shuffle by a couple of chairs to move anywhere on the balcony as the chairs barely fit.

  6. Go to an AD for whatever watch you are looking for. I have made good deals in St. Maarten, grand cayman and St. Thomas. Have purchased several rolex, AP and Panerai in SM. Goldfinger is the AD in SM. If you can't get $ off the watch negotiate a second piece in the deal. Works every time.

  7. I don't know about when you stayed in it, but I am in 11330 now and I think it is fabulous. I have never stayed in a regular GS (did see one on a tour), but have stayed in a JS, several OS and a Crown Loft Suite (and a two bedroom on NCL Epic) and no way is this cabin terrible. It sounds like they rushed to get it done and didn't have all the amenities ready when you were in it. There are pictures now, the tvs are mounted and I find the decor to be beautiful. I much prefer having two rooms over having one larger room. I think it has ample storage for up to four people (with two closets) and I couldn't be more pleased. However, I think it would be a stretch to make this a two bedroom, two bath because of how angular the room is.

We were the first to sail in it. We didn't care for it. Very stale decor and yes, the rushed to finish it before our sailing. We did eventually get the furniture and pics you are referring to. The bathroom was awful compared to regular GSs. The fact that I had to duck or sit to take a shower was a ton of fun. Also, the wall paper started falling down mid cruise. We are not a fan but to each their own. Oh yeah, the balcony furniture looks to be the same pool deck furniture that we had, which is not suite level. We have sailed in RFS, SL, OS and GS and 11330 on oasis class ships. Just wasn't our style.

  8. The cabin is terrible. We had it back in early December. Worst suite we have had yet. There is no way this cabin will be 2 bedrooms and on my other thread you will see that these cabins have been recognized on the ship since day one as Aqua suites. It was corporate that classified them as a GS when they were first built. The balcony has nice views that's about all I can say about the cabin. We would never book these suites again. Go with a regular GS or OS.

  9. I think the vista looks great. After sailing on oasis and allure a handful of times RCs mega ships are not all that great. I think my wife summed it up best as she said "if I wanted to go to the mall I would, don't want to spend my vacation in one though" last time on oasis. I like the feeling of a traditional cruise ship. After our 2nd cruise on both allure and oasis there really wasn't any WOW. At this point we prefer the freedom class but the new suite lounge and coastal kitchen are great on oasis. The biggest deterrent for us at this point from RC is their pricing and BS sales. A week on oasis is no longer worth 6-15k (suites) to us. Carnival is in a great spot in this cruising market.

  10. YOUR lounge:rolleyes: (see in RED YOUR comment), entitlement indeed!!

    Seriously!!

And our DD status allows her that privilege also

She has even been at 4 Captains tables:p and yes the Captain, Hotel Director and senior officers invited HER:eek:

When she dances on the table and screams while eating her food with her hands you should see the faces of the D+ and D sat around us.. Shocking it is:D

Of course we tell her to sit back down.

I guess all Kids, are not well behaved and we're all dragged up, not brought up properly.

Spot on! I am so over the entitled bunch. "Oh we have cruised with RC for the last 300 years! This is MY lounge and I want to milk all the free drinks I can" LMFAO. Bottom line is...like it or not... RC is a FAMILY cruise line. If I pay for my son to stay in a suite guess what? He has ALL suite privileges, lounges and all, if my son is pinnacle guess what, he has all of those privileges as well. You can take your 1950's attitude and flush it. You should really introduce yourself to HAL.

  11. If they're allowed, then so be it. But if it clearly states no minors, then I expect to have an adult experience and no one's "angels" in my lounge. No matter what I paid. My D,D+, status allows me that privilege. Even well behaved children have a piercing, shrill timbre to their voices that I don't want to hear when I'm trying to enjoy cocktail hour.

See there is that sense of entitlement. Good luck with that.

  12. So, are you saying that Suites' inhabitants consider themselves less entitled than Ds and D+s. I've actually experienced just the opposite.

And the rules, it's actually called the operation matrix, are broken, expanded, extrapolated, modified, etc, etc, etc, by all the ships' hotel directors. It's their prerogative as long as they meet their budget objectives.

I didn't say that directly, however if I pay 15k for a cruise I am paying for the suite experience vs someone who pays 500 for an inside cabin yes I feel a bit entitled. Guess that is why they will be adding suite perks and "revising" D,D+ perks as they have been.

  13. Our son was never turned away from the CL or SL (oasis) on Indy, Oasis (x2) Allure (x2) Enchantment or Freedom (x2) He started cruising at 6 mos and is now 3. Yes we cruise a lot and always in suites. Sure we got some looks but one concierge said they preferred our son in the lounge over some upper CA members who do nothing but book inside rooms and drive the concierge crazy with demands/tasks the entire cruise and don't ever tip. The concierge have bent over backwards to make sure he is happy as they know there is a nice tip involved at the end of the trip. Many of them have given him little gifts (stuffed animals, t shirts, etc) bring your kids to the lounges. If I pay full fare for my child he is entitled to the benefits that he can consume, I don't care what the D, D+ say. Pretty sure they are moving the D,D+ lounge on all ships down by the engine room so they can discuss their sense of entitlement in peace. Go ahead fire away oh CA royality.

  14. Wow, when I first read this post I thought it was a typo, but sure enough, it's correct. I just did a couple of mock bookings on the two eastern-route Oasis cruises in July, and it's easy to hit that $18k range if you have a 3rd or 4th person in that Owners Suite. Can't believe it's jumped so much. I have an OS on Oasis booked for October (though only for two people), and it was a fourth of that cost.

I haven't booked anything new in awhile, and every time I consider adding another cruise down the road somewhere, I see the current prices and change my mind. The ones I do have coming up over the next 15 months were all booked on the same day, but that was last spring.

Yes it was for 3 people. We have sailed in suites with RC for years, GS,OS, CL and sky lofts and never paid anything even close to this. Never paid over 6k for OS for 3 either. For that money you could either rent a fully staffed house on an island or you could fly private and stay at the Ritz.

  15. It's terrible. Priced a cruise on oasis for July and they want 18k for an owners suite, yes $18,000,00. We paid less than 1/3rd of that last year. I can't imagine anyone paying that price for a 7 day eastern. There were 5 cabins left at that price.

  16. I find the smell of strong "perfume" much more offensive then the smell of vapers. Try eating a nice dinner with someone sitting near reeking of perfume and I can only wonder what kind of chemicals are used that I have to inhale. Never smelled vaping aromas although I've been near people vaping, but I have had dinners ruined because of someone dousing themselves with some chemical aroma.

I can't stand getting in an elevator or dining next to someone who decided they wanted to bathe in their preferred fragrance, it is plain nasty. And agree with the fumes, it is so nice to walk behind someone and inhale their cloud of puke as they stroll along or walk by. There are studies out there about the chemicals in perfume/cologne. I bet if someone actually cared about what they are spraying on their skin and took the time to understand what's in it they would be appalled. I think the NEJM did a few studies. On the ecig front? I don't mind them one bit. Puff away my friends and no I am not a smoker or vaporer.

  17. It's just a matter of time until somebody posts and insists that they got a great deal with the BOGOHO sale. That being said, aside from the few that got decent prices in May when the "sale" began, there are no good Royal Caribbean sales. Just pricing games.

We did get a great deal during the BOGOHO sale.....on a different line. Can't wait to check out the Haven on Norwegian.
