  1. I'm back online - was without power for 22 hours. we were in the last 1/4 to be restored.

Joaquin wasn't bad - well, the aftermath wasn't bad at all - as compared to both Fay and Gonzalo last year.

Bermuda has recovered. The waters are calming down as the winds disperse.

Bermuda will be fine and welcoming to Breakaway on Wednesday!

This morning the seas were too rough so it was good that the 2 ships Carnival Sunshine and RC Liberty OTS went elsewhere.

Long wet windy storm but minimal aftermath, thank goodness.

Great news, glad it wasn't as bad as forecasted. Our prayers were with Bermuda and everyone there.

  2. Guess I should plan to pack more warmer weather cloths.

I am bringing shorts and sleeveless tops, yes. But, I'm also taking capris, jeans, and other clothes that can be layered. I pack a LOT. According to the below site, the average temperature in October is around 80 degrees Fahrenheit:

I know when I was there in October before, we were quite hot during early to midday and were able to wear shorts and light clothing.

Can't recall if you said this is also your first cruise, but if so, it can get really chilly in the dining rooms and other indoor public areas.

  3. Wow, guess I've cruised several times in October. Last time to Bermuda was in October, and I recall it being chilly and drizzly leaving NYC. Not knowing what to expect, but knowing we were leaving from NYC, I had cool weather clothes, so no issues. Yes, the first day at sea or so was also cooler, but once in Bermuda, absolutely perfect, warm, sunny weather!

BTW, I'm on the 10/18 Breakaway cruise also!

Is it short and tank top weather? Or capri's and tee shirts in Bermuda? I'm bringing Jeans and jackets/sweathers for sure for those cool days.

  4. The venues are small and can not hold large numbers of people, so they take reservations.

Being you are last minute you'll need to be flexible, and early in your cruise, go to the box office and sign up for the shows you want to see. If there is something you need on a specific day, and they are sold out, there are standbys which are allowed in, depending on space. BUT, you may not get seats together, or in the better areas.

Thanks, I stay with NCL now as I love freestyle, making resssies for entertainment takes that away :( on pass cruises we always arrived early to shows for a good seat. Not sure I'm going to like this.

  5. Hello everyone, we just booked the Breakaway for Oct. 18th to Bermuda, a last minute cruise.

I'm working long days to be able to take a week off, so no time to research. I have never cruised on this class ship, can the experts give us the ins and outs.

What is this i'm reading about booking entertainment ahead? I have never done that before on NCL. What are the major differences between the Gem class and this class ships PLEASE!!

What else do we need to know?

Looking forward to any tips or suggestions.

  6. Get off the ship and there are open Safari buses there for about $15-$20pp, nice island tour and then a few hours at the beach. Great first time visit tour! We are doing it again this time my 4th time there.

  7. Or don't print them at all, you can get tags from porters - that is what we always do.

Does this take longer to drop off your bags> I printed mine so that I can pull up and drop and go park and get on the ship faster!!

  8. Oh thanks for letting me know we could probably get someone to take us around for a couple hours to see San Juan for $15 pp. If we would ask, would they stop for us to take a picture, etc. if we wished? Did they show you the "highlights" of San Juan?

Yes, we did this 2x and it was pretty good tour for $15.

  9. Flaming Blue Ferrari recipe

    3 oz white rum

    3 oz dark rum

    2 oz Blue Curacao liqueur

Pour the rums into an old-fashioned glass. Seperately, pour the blue curacao into a double-shot glass. Ignite the rum mixture (use extreme caution) and suck with a straw; at the same time pour the blue curacao into the glass and finish.

Oh my, don't think I will try this one :D:p:eek:

  10. I booked a private tour in Puerto Rico on 3/31 and time is stated as 8am-5pm. Our guide needs to know what pier and about what time to pick us up. Should we be off by 8:30am? Or should I tell him 9am?

Also what will all aboard be? 4:30pm? I can't remember but I thought maybe 30 minutes prior?

Also will ship time and island time be the same?

    Any recent cruisers have info?

    Thanks!!!!!!

  11. Brining back up to the top, Has a list been updated we can print?

Love all the suggestions so far.

I read somewhere recently about a superman drink and a green lantern drink, I think at a land base bar in NYC. The picture was frozen drinks that looked good. Does anyone know if these are made on a ship?

  12. Sounds excellent. Ellis was booked for our day in port. We booked another guide for a private tour. In your opinion what would you suggest to do with a limited time of 8:30am to 4pm? Just trying to get the most out of our day in Puerto Rico. We want to go off the beaten path.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!!!!

  13. Not a lot of info on this :( I'm still looking for a tour guide for our day in PR. Ellis is booked. He suggested someone to me and they are booked too.

Looking for good suggestions. Can yp find a decent tour guise at the pier?
