Apparently, "Always Available" dinner selections in the MDR has been replaced by "Classic Dishes" fleetwide - like this one - scroll down, bottom left & zoom it to read, not a great image, but it's clear enough to read. These are from the BA 2015 sailing, FWIW.

You could still o the DIY route and rent a car. Search for the Puerto Rico Day trips site. Apart from having banners for all kinds of vendors and tours, they have detailed descriptions/reviews from most (if not all) of Puerto Rico's attractions. One nice features that they have is that they actually give you GPS coordinates you can program into your rental's GPS and help you get there. Take an eastern route through Piñones and Loiza for some of the best roadside, local food and fritters. You can keep east and visit El Yunque and Luquillo Beach which also have a long row of food kiosks that the locals frequent as well as tourists. If you take the western route, your best bet would be the Rio Camuy Caves and the Arecibo Observatory which are close by one to another. These are just examples. Visit the site, check out the things you like to see and plan a route, maybe using google maps. Good luck!!
I really don't want to be a designed driver :D;) Be nice to have someone tell us the history as we go. Hoping we can get guise at the port.

Did you try Charlies Custom Tours?
Yup:(
Special note : Carlitos (son) and I are booked solid March and April...
-
How many bottles are you allowed touring home without paying taxes? Doing St. Thomas, St. Maarten, Tortola and Puerto Rico.
Thanks

Please Help, Ellis and another guide he suggested are both booked the day our ship is in port.:( I really want a guide for the day. There are 4 of us. 77 to 28, I thought of renting a car but feel we will miss all the knowledge from a local guide.
If there any guide you could recommend? Are there guides you can book for the day when you get off the ship? Would love to know a name to ask for to get a great guide.
PLEASE send me any tips you can. I'm at a lost right now and we leave in 3 weeks. This is the MOST exciting port for us, I have been to Puerto Rico 2x but both times were short port visits, this time we have 8-5 and want to make the most of it, and see the local stuff.
Looking forward to any suggestions. PLEASE!!!! I do remember guides/buses at the port but would like to know a good one to ask for. Or who to stay away from. WE want an off the beaten path, show us your island as you see it, eat some local food with locals, swim at a local beach and maybe go to the Bacardi factory. We just don't want to drive around and not know what we are seeing.
Keeping fingers crossed the CCers knows someone, Thanks!!!!!

Sure you can request to bypass Marigot but it will be also be up to all the other passengers in your van whether they want to bypass Marigot too. If some of the passengers want to stop at Marigot, then the tour will stop in Marigot. I guess your not interested in those delicious pastries at Sarafina's in Marigot. Tour 2 will give you less time in Marigot compared to Tour 1.
If your booking a private tour you can make all the decisions on where to go.
Thanks, we were there once, that was enough ;) I really don't need parties and if we went I would indulge :D
-
Yep, that's my recollection too - either we had 30 minutes, and it ended up being 45, or we had 45 and it ended up being an hour. Pretty short but long enough for Serafina's if you go straight there!
Does anyone know if you can request the tour without stopping at Marigot?
-
Thanks, still deciding, might just taxi. The thought of no worries of catching a cab was a nice perk :)

I have read and searched but still undecided and we leave in 4 weeks. My mother can't walk far, so looking for the least amount of walking from ship to get to tour guide. What's the best?
What we mainly want is time at Orient Beach, we want to Jet ski and parasail, so want enough time to do both or at least one. And we want to see the Planes at Maho. Where should we go on the Orient Beach for these activities and best prices?
I took Bernard's tour a few years back, when he still went to the Iguana Farm, I don't remember much time at the Orient Beach. How much time do you get on Tour #2 at Orient Beach? Plus we have no interest in going to the town and Bakery again.
I have also looked at Viator's 2 beach tour but read some reviews they didn't have much time at Orient Beach. Any current cruisers take this tour? Any info? Almost seems best for us, but worried about time at Orient Beach.
What would be our best options for the above activities with the least amount of walking but plenty of time at Orient Beach and still see a few planes? I don't really want to rent a car and need a driver, we are on vacation. :D

Loving this post and thanks for making the list. I will wait and print it before we leave in 4 weeks!!
-
Thanks, years ago they made us walk back out to the main rd. This helps!!!!
-
Do you know where on the beach you were dropped off?
-
Loving your reviews!
-
Thans for sharing. did you see a lot of guides/taxi drivers at the pier that wold take you on a tour? As we want to get out of OSJ and Ellis is already booked the day we are there.
-
Question, will the taxi's pick you up right at the restaurant? My mother will not be able to walk to the main street, we had to do that once and it was not fun.
-
Yes, that won't be a problem - don't drink all of the rum! :p
I'll save some. :D
-
What if Ellis is booked the day you're there? I'm also looking for a tour of PR. Any other ideas?
-
Nice pic, will be sailing on her seeing this great view 3/27 YAY!!!
-
Thanks!!!!! I'm sure then that we can get a tour at the pier that will take us to the distillery and the beach with an island tour.
-
Can you still get one of the open safari truck tours at the pier? Can anyone confirm that has been there recently?
What beach has the rum distillery next to it? We were suppose to go there once and a traffic accident caused us to miss it.
Any other suggestions what to see and do in Tortola on a tour? We are NOT interested in the Baths this trip.
-
So I guess there is no parasailing or jet skies at the beaches in Tortola.
Platinum dinners in Le Bistro - booking ahead?

Now I'm concerned, it's one perk I look forward to.
