My Tribe I need your prayers 🙏. My Father in Law has been suffering with dementia for 10 years. My Mother in Law has been caring for him on her own. He’s 89 and she’s 86. Yesterday she collapsed, my brother in law found her. Drs found cancer in her bladder. We’re on our way to Vegas now.

Keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

  2. I'm still working on catching up, but I'm here!!

Today is the first anniversary of my father in law's passing.  Husband took the day off work, he and his dad were pretty close so it's hard.  Cancer sucks.  But we're having a fun date night tonight, husband wanted to go out for fancy cocktails and then to see a show so that's what we're doing.

Other than that, been working like crazy but getting excited for a Hawaii girls trip in 9 days!  I need to start thinking about packing soon.

    Happy Saturday TRIBE!

OMG I have to share with you this story my mom told me.

I shared with you all my 95 year old mom went to visit her ailing sister in California last weekend.

Well, my mom goes to they gym 3 morning a week Mon-Wed-Fri.  Mom decided she was not going to tell anyone at the  gym she was going to California, she figured she would surprise  them when she returned and they asked her she would simply tell them "oh I decided to go to California for the weekend"........it  BACKFIRED ON HER!

Mom said when she got home from her trip she had  27 missed phone calls from people at the gym.

She has a group of friends there that they "chat" all the time about life and golf especially.

    Then it  gets more interesting.

My brother is a Land Surveyor and he maintains his business office in the basement of mom's home, has been for 50+ years.  Saturday morning he is in the office and looks out the window and there are THREE police  cars in the  driveway!

The gym had called in a wellness check on my mom and everyone in the town where she lives knows her so  they sent out the forces.

I laughed so hard when she told me this on the phone this morning during our weekly chat.

Guess she learned a lesson even at 95 to let folks know where she is going, something she always told us kids growing up!

She had a great trip and did just fine!  She is glad to be home for sure.

This is so funny, and so awesome that your mom has so many people looking out for her!

Thanks to all for your kind words. I am not in a headspace still to spend much time here in the thread but I appreciate every reply and like on my posts.

@sid_9169 I am proud of you for your efforts to go booze free and I cheer each day when you go 24 hours or longer. I believe those breaks are saving your life and preventing you from losing control of your health. I can hardly describe the H E double hockey sticks of watching someone pass that threshold, go out of their mind and utterly destroy their life in this way.

Tribe, my story is becoming like a TV movie with the addict moving out of the family home at a low point, and immediately taking in another addict they met during their last hospital detox (only a month ago, followed by severe relapse 2 days post release). Yes we have even had the cliche of the kindhearted cop in the campground “assisting” with removing the “guest” from the travel trailer. Followed by the camp host reminding us that police being called to the site is an automatic eviction.

Yesterday his coworkers contacted me as they attempted an intervention to save his life and his (very good and lucrative) job. A member of the corporate leadership team, located at company headquarters in another midwest city, understanding that he’d reached a crisis level, took a personal vacation day to drive several hours to encourage him to immediately enter treatment. It was this individual who personally drove him to the facility later in the day.

My husband is blessed beyond all measure to have people making truly Herculean efforts to help him. I am amazed people refuse to give up on him as he’s not showing anyone his best side right now. The same executive who took an off-the-record action will be initiating HR support today including approval of FMLA for as long as necessary.

Before the day was over my addict was checked in for inpatient treatment. I can only hope he will stay for (at least) a 28 day program. It’s not a prison but I believe he’s run out of both time and options and this is really his last chance before he loses everything that matters to him.

With each relapse (at least 5 in the past 10 months) he’s actually gotten steadily worse rather than better.

I doubt anyone is surprised that I have an appointment with an attorney next week before we leave for the cruise.

So much love and hugs.  I can't speak from any personal experience with a situation like this, just know I'm thinking of you and hoping for the best.

Woohoo!  Keep us posted, we're going to either do the BL Panama Canal or a BL Alaska sailing that year.  Need to take advantage of the west coast homeport while it's here!!

I wasn’t going to bring this up, but last night after softball, we stopped at Sonic. There’s a chance a hit was put out on my life or I was poisoned, one or both. Either way, my stomach is not ok. No one else in the house has had any issues, so I’m going to battle through it. If this live takes a turn or if I go MIA, just know I had a good run, and Sonic in Apache did me in.

I think it's your "friend" from Guadeloupe still coming after you... 😬

Hoping for a swift recovery, and looking forward to following along!!

  8. I'm very much enjoying these photo memories that FB is showing me from three years ago. The world was shut down, so for my birthday celebration we bought some 3oz portions of Japanese wagyu to make at home and some tomahawks. I'm drooling just reminiscing on this. 🤤🤤🤤

  9. Loved following along with everyone's eclipse photos, thanks for sharing! We only had 30% totality here in the Bay Area so I didn't even bother getting the glasses for it, it wasn't a huge thing here. Hoping to someday catch a full one, but also not gonna go hugely out of my way to do so. 😆

  10. Thanks so much everyone for the birthday wishes! The real festivities are tomorrow, but today was a great day of no work, hanging with the kitties and hubby, doing my first Peloton ride, and eating/drinking my weight in some of my favorite snacks and wine. Sadly though, no burritos.

For those who have flown to Europe, I can use your advice, tips and tricks.

I may have a good excuse to go to Ireland about this time next year.

What airlines are better? Who's got the best business class prices?

    Anything else I should know?

Don't know where you're flying from, but going to Ireland I'd choose Aer Lingus. I've flown them direct from San Francisco to Dublin and it was 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼

Ah, then nope, if you bought the bike from them it would work for accessories - shoes, weights, mat to under the bike. That kinda stuff.

Ah ok. Was worth a try! I'm not sure I'll be super into it, so don't want the expense of a brand new one. 😆 But the one I'm going to look at in a few min allegedly has less than 50 rides on it, so that seems pretty new to me lol.

Let me know if you do! I'm about to go get changed to hop on for ride #800 at 7

(also if you haven't yet I can send you a referral code to save some $$$)

ETA - actually I'll just leave it here RBF57R

Cool, thanks! What does the referral code work on? I'm buying the bike from FB Marketplace, so not brand new, can I use the referral code for something else? If so I totally will!

  15. Hope everyone had a great Easter!  My in laws are visiting from out of state, so been super busy playing hostess, which is exhausting.  But we had a nice weekend, drank a lot of good wine, ate a lot of good food, none of which I got pics of.

My birthday is later this week, and hubby and I are going to celebrate at a two-star Michelin restaurant we've never been to.  Sooo...super excited for that!

  16. Happy birthday @pebbles1102!

I've been MIA, but I'm here and keeping up. I had surgery last Friday (not weight loss surgery LOL), and I'm here to tell you that post-surgery fatigue is REAL and is hitting me hard. I've been sleeping 9ish hours per night and still need naps during the day, and no energy.

Anyhoo, the surgery went well and I had my follow up yesterday with my surgeon, she is super pleased with how it's all going amd looking so that's great. I took off this whole week from work for recovery, and I'm feeling incrementally better each day.

    Ok, back to bed.
