  1. My reasons fall to the other side of why to be loyal to royal, I only get to cruise 1 time a year or every 2 years so for the chance to build loyalty and get better deals I am interested in staying with RCCI. Our cruises have been amazing, and we want a good balance of sea days and shore days so that we can take advantage of the things offered on board. I love bingo, and the scavenger hunts, trivia (only I am not great at it,lol) the kids love the flowrider, bb courts, rock climbing and we all enjoyed the shows.

You say you live scavenger hunts, I hope you are a geocacher!

  2. Our first cruise was on Royal and we've never looked elsewhere. We've never had a bad experience and always enjoyed the ships. I asked DH last year if he wanted to try a different line and his response was: why? Royal has never let us down and we're comfortable on their ships. We are definitely Loyal to Royal.

I could have written this post, I asked my husband the same thing and got the same answer! We had a very large roll call for our last with many of the folks having cruised extensively. We had discussions with them and they said don't bother trying other lines. I would still like to try Celebrity but I just love the Royal Promenade, really makes the ship feel open.

  3. There's also Red Fish Blue Fish, it's a funky seafood take out on one of the warfs in the Inner Harbour. It's an old cargo container that serves excellent fish and Chips along with many different "tacones" and other goodies. Google it for the menu, always a big line up though. Had lunch there yesterday and it was great.

Butcharts is my all time favourite place in Victoria (we live 5 minutes away) but it is a ways from town if you are bussing. We love to wander the downtown, so many great restaurants, shops and pubs. The Bard and Banker or Irish Times are two really good pubs.

  4. We had to haul our carry on with us, had lunch then went to the pool deck and met up with the CC group. Had a drink and the cabins were ready by 1:00. Dropped our bags and started to explore. The doors were closed and the crew are busy, I personally wouldn't ask to get in early.

  5. My first RCCL cruise was on Indy from Southampton. Similar itinerary. We were in Cagliari on a Sunday.... it was closed.... there were massive queues for the Hoho. Suggest a beach day if you're there on a Sunday!!

Being novices we took a RCCL tour around Gibraltar and had a very close encounter with the Barbary Macaques!! Great fun and very interesting. You can probably pick up a private tour for less money. But we loved it!

Barcelona we did on our own. Grabbed a cab at the pier and went to the Cathedral. Then Parc Guell. Lots of walking and wonderful architecture.

Actually I think it would be easier to just link you to my first ever blog.... they got better.... this in the days before I posted pics to the blogs...

Thank you for the link, I've read your other blogs. You did the exact b2b in the Caribbean as we did on Adventure, you went in Nov I believe and we were Jan/Feb13. Thanks for all the info, should be fantastic

  6. Thanks for all these great recommendations, it's very much appreciated. We've only cruised the Caribbean so if I can of help let me reciprocate. We live in Victoria BC, Canada which is also a cruise port for the Alaska bound trips, again if anyone needs info ask away!

  7. This post is getting me really excited, we are booked for a 16 night Central Med cruise in Sept. Southampton to Rome and back. Can't wait! Any recommendations is certainly appreciated. We have always booked excursions through the ship but will look into the Rome in limo tours. Our itinerary is Gibraltar, Barcelona, Nice, Rome, Livorno, Cagliari, Malaga, Cadiz, and Lisbon.....whew!

  8. We'll be in Aruba next Wednesday on Adventure of the Seas and don't sail until 9pm. Anyone know if the casino will be open before 9:30pm?

I was on the same cruise last year, can't remember when the casino opened but I'm having my morning coffee from my "Aruba" Starbucks mug as I read the forum! Great memories

  9. We did it on Adventure last year, the "acting" wasn't exactly Oscar worthy but the cast were having a great time, the food was excellent and we had a blast! There was enough red and white wine to float a boat! They just kept filling the glasses, and we kept drinking it. I'd highly recommend this, keep in mind the story is completely hokey but so much fun!

  10. Hello all. Embarking in two weeks, 3/2/14. For those who may know....

Cruise Docs state 1:30 to board. Have read where some have gotten on as early as 11:30. Line starts forming even earlier. Is it best to be a part of the cruise ambiance starting early or say wait till say 2 or 3pm where one might just walk on?

First time in SJ. Arriving late Friday night, so have Saturday to see

old SJ and forts. Perhaps doing some sight seeing/beach Sunday morning.

    Thanks

Did this same cruise last year, we got to the port about 11:15-11:30, not much for lines, got to an agent and checked in right away. Had to sit for 15 minutes and then boarded. The rooms weren't ready til 2 I believe. Gave us time for lunch and an impromptu meet and mingle with a bunch of the CC roll call. Have a great cruise, we sure did. Love SJ

  11. I understand the price matching but I don't buy into it. If you want my business then give me your best price. If someone else gives me a better price then you lost my business. And besides, I have no intetions of jumping through the hoops of getting the price from a merchant in writing and going back to a previous merchant and giving them a second shot at the sale. It just isn't how I do business.

I actually agree with you completely, I was just replying to the person that said the ship doesn't wheel and deal, they actually do. We bought our watches on shore, my husbands on St Maarten and mine St Thomas. The salesman did get the watch I wanted but I had already bought mine.

  12. The last time that I bought a Citizen watch I got much better pricing on both St. Thomas and St. Maarten than what they wanted for it on the ship. Pricing on the islands is negotiable. It is not aboard ship.

When we were on Serenade my husband and I were looking at citizen watches, we were told they would match any price we were given on shore. They even got the model I wanted when they restocked on St Thomas, good service and prices.

Mine as well. Another thought, excuse me, we are paying your wages, could we please have some service! I would likely never say it that way but would like to
