What was wrong with the entertainment? Are you talking about the shows? We are due to go on the Dream on 10 May (our 4th time). The shows used to be very good.
-
I was on the dream in October 2011 so may have seen Matthew. I cannot recall any name but there were a couple of really good singers. They made the hairs of my neck stand up!

Jim the duty free shop is not always open.
-
Flopsy, have you had a look at the roll call section?
-
the alcohol sold on cross channel ferries is not duty free...its tax free (vat free)
You are correct and its the same with shops in airports. But what I don't understand is why in EU waters alcohol (full stop) is not sold in Thomson ship shops. But it used to be, only back in 2011.

we had chocs everynight....no towel animals tho
I found out that chocs are supplied by the stewards (not by thomsons) they have to buy them...in fact, the stewards are kind off self employed....they are paid per cabin if they need an assistant (from housekeeping) to help them...then they need to pay that assistant out of their own pockets....they can agree how many cabins they think they can do per day (if they employ an assistant they can do more cabins and possibly make more money)....they also make profits on the mini bar (buy wholesale from thoms and sell at retail)...interesting eh?
Who told you that? That is dreadful. Next thing they will be buying the toiletries.

Our first cruise in 2011 was the Meditteraean Medley and the shops on board sold alcohol. However the following year on a similar itinery no alcohol was in the shop and we were told it was because we were in EU waters. No one could explain why we bought this the previous year. Then last year again in the Med there was alcohol at the start of the criuise. But this was maybe due to it being the first week back in EU after the TA crossing. It must just be a Thomson thing cause alcohol is sold on cross channel ferries.

We also are having an early flight to Palma this time arriving around lunchtime. We will be excited so don't mind getting up early and look forward to spending a bit of time in Palma. We may just take lunch on the Dream then have many hours to explore Palma. I am preferring this option this time rather than arrive around 4pm as per the last 3 times.

My husband has a grey suit but I bought him a smart white shirt and a black bow tie for his Christmas. He will be wearing this on Captains night, I tell him.

Sorry Little Nell, I misunderstood. I thought people were sad that there were to be no sailings at all from the UK to all areas.
-
Being in Scotland I am pleased that Thomson do not sail from the UK. Its just as convenient for us to fly to Europe as it is to fly down to Southampton, Harwich etc. That way we are leaving from a warm country with one day less at sea. The cost is possibly the same too.

Some of you are saying that people walked out of the show. Sorry, but personally I think this is bad manners. Yes the team are young and not as strong or experienced, but audiences should be encouraging them. The team seeing this must get very demoralised when they see this happening.

I've not been to many ancient sites but one we did last year was in Cartagena, Spain. An old Roman Ampitheatre was recently discovered in 1988 when developing the city. Its behind the museum and to me its very impressive.

I tend to correspond through facebook but it takes ages in the ships internet lounge. This would be useful.

Any idea where I can buy some nice reasonably priced dresses both for during the day and to wear in the evening on my cruise in May? I have been wearing the same ones for the last 3 years but we ladies like a change - don't we?
I had a hysterectomy last May and am feeling a bit down since my summer clothes no longer fit. I have tried dieting and always have been slim but realise I may have to move up a size. The thought of going to a changing room just scares me at the moment. I've always been lucky and just gone into M & S ,and bought clothes knowing they always fit. They don't seem to have much on offer at the moment.

Cappers same here, I am 55, husband is 61 but still have 2 daughters at home with no plans to move out or get married age 21 and 24 (let alone give us grandchildren). Each time we go on holiday, they sigh and wish they were coming too! Yes we are spending their inheritance but they can have the house when we are gone!!!!

Geomagot, I am wondering if Fred has a buffet but that there are fixed times to eat there (saves queues possibly?) Linda may confirm.)
-
Linda, it may have been Huddersfield Tourists remark further up the page. He said that there is no flight for this cruise but there are still places in the ship available.
-
I think its just the Celebration. They were only installed in the last few months.
-
We are travelling in May and booked through a travel agent. There were only about 2-3 outside cabins available to we were offered the outside plus which then freed up an outside cabin.
-
We booked ours just when the price crept up a bit. I was afraid that it would increase further or even sell out. I'm not looking but my husband keeps checking and yes the price is now decreasing. I don't want to know but he keeps on telling me how much we could have saved! However we got a call earlier this week offering upgrade to outside plus cabin for only £7 a person for the full week. We took this and its made us feel a bit better!
-
We chose an inside cabin when we were on a Med Cruise in Autumn. It gets dark so early and again in the morning. So we wouldn't really be seeing daylight that much anyway. I'm not that bothered which deck or postion. One cruise we were at the aft side so it was so convenient for popping up to the deck first thing in the morning to see the landscape, but further away form restaurants.

Thank you all. I thought I had been imagining this search facility.

I.m certain there used to be a box here where you could type in a word and search for a thread in this forum. I can't find this. Can anyone help or is it just me?

The Dreams house wine used to be a name like Portofino? It was like vinegar. I won a bottle in a quiz too and the taste was even worse at home. No it couldn't have been that name. Its the name of a town . And pecorino is a cheese!.
