  1. We use R O water all the time as our well water has enough sulfur in it really not be pleasing to the palate.

If you think it is the ships water, just order an entree with sauce and then one with out any sauce or gravy etc. You will have a real eye opening at how much sodium is in the sauce gravy etc in your food.

My mom had congestive heart failure. It was a real eye awaking moment when I went with her to the dietician. Even fresh tomatoes have salt in them. Anything canned etc has lots of salt, add a sauce and you have swollen feet after several days. Eat lots of salad, fresh fruit etc. Drink water, yes you can drink it out of the sink, but then just think if you have that coffee or tea or lemonade it is the same water as your sink.

    Enjoy your cruise.

  2. Have to laugh at some posts because on our Panama Canal cruise they adjusted times forward and backwards several times. Old fart here, I can use the phone and the telephone. I just put the time in on the phone and let the ship wake me up..... oh forgot room service too :D

  3. Your deposit amount can be lower when you book on board. They run several kinds of specials so be sure you understand what your perks are.

Great advice about making sure your booking is not associated with a TA. You can always change that for 60 days after you book it, but not after that day. Also, remember the clock starts ticking from the day you put your deposit down and get paper work.

  4. Have to laugh at this thread. I bring a fan for noise and air movement. They confiscated my fan on the Allure because it was supposed to be unsafe. Our wonderful cabin steward brought us a box fan that was very tired, but it did save us as the cabin got hot in the middle of the night.

Glad to hear reports that we can legally bring a fan. Guess I need to ask special needs for one in the future. Going to be gone for 3 weeks this next cruise so fan isn't coming in the luggage, just sound machine. Sure hope the AC works or the balcony door is staying open all night.

  5. If you are in a Grand Suite or above you will be contacted by your Concierge. Junior Suites do not get get contacted by a Concierge nor do they have access to the Suite Lounge.

The company is changing the perks because they can. If you cruise for the perks you should book a Grand Suite and above. If you are cruising for the vacation then you can book an inside and get the same points as a balcony cabin.

If you have questions about something before boarding the ship you can post a question here on the boards, lots of knowledgeable people on here.

If you booked with a Travel Agent they should be able to help you with questions or if booked with Royal call them.

  6. We have select dining on our first Celebrity cruise. Not new cruising or My Time Dining with Royal. I have Iodine allergies so have to have be careful. I am wondering what is best to maintain safety if you can't have same wait staff in Select. I use My Time Dining with Royal, but end up with same wait staff.

  7. I am an aft junkie, so much so I book cruises around when I can get them for different sailings.

I have 9160 booked on the Infinity for the Panama Canal. First sailing with Celebrity so I can only give you my take from Royal. You will have an awesome view point to take pictures of the glacier without others in front of you. Check out lower decks on your ship. The Radiance and Serenade had covered decks to get side views of the glacier and then back to my cabin when the ship turned. Could be raining so investigate your options.

I fried a camera on our last Alaska cruise because of moisture when we did the Kenai Fjords cruise. The smaller boat did not have overhangs to protect my camera.

    Happy sailing.

  8. Ok, you've piqued my curiosity! How did she discover this remedy?

I have seen large containers of pickle chips at the Ocean View Cafe and Pool/Mast Grill, both of which grill hamburgers. I would think they would be glad to pour off some juice into a glass for you. It would certainly be one of the more interesting things people have asked them for.

Old time remedy, my husband drinks it all the time after he has been out in the heat mowing yard etc. I on the other hand use Mrs. Braggs Vinegar.

  9. Our first time on Celebrity so your advice really is important as seasoned cruisers.

We are on the Celebrity Infinity in October because Royal didn't have a Panama Canal cruise for us to book a year ago.

If I reading posts correctly Celebrity doesn't require you to activate your internet minutes and use them all in a consecutive block?

I hate the ships coffee on Royal, thus I go to the lounge to water down the very dark roasted stuff. Looks like there isn't a lounge, where would you go to have a medium roast coffee?

Laundry? I only put things that can stand really hot water in the wash and fold laundry on Royal. Does this apply to Celebrity? We are on a 16 day cruise so will pack accordingly if I need to hand wash.

As an Diamond Plus member cruising as an Elite where would you take any issues that might arise? We have a ton of OBC that I am worried will be wasted. It looks like there won't be a Concierge that I can go to, or am I reading things incorrectly?

Can you use OBC to apply to a future cruise with Celebrity?

Can't wait to try our new experience on the sister line.

    Thanks for the replies.

  10. My first cruise on Celebrity so wondering about their tours too. I have used Royals with some good and some bad.

I am doing a full transit of the Panama Canal. I used Oscar Brown out of Puerto Limon and had great an awesome times both times I used him. Looking to try to book him for Puntarenas. Will report back if goes there.

  11. I can't answer your question, but if you search for Oscar Brown and ask the quesiton from his website you could ask a local. There is a marketplace near the ship that has wonderful vendors.

I never thought a port would be closed when a cruise ship was in port, but when we were in Monte Carlo almost all of the town was shut down for All Souls Day. Really hard to believe a cruise line would go to a port if they knew the town was closed.

  12. I have used Oscar Brown several times and have recommended him to many times to count. Have been off the boards forever, but must say Oscar is a wonderful tour guide.

I plan on using him on for our tour in Puntarenas in October. Carol does an excellent job. There is a website that you can check out tours in Puerto Limon just do a search. I had to contact and ask what we could do in Puntarenas.

Enjoy Costa Rica it is magical. If you haven't ziplined this is an awesome place to do it.

The tip about market buying gifts by desertmoon is awesome. I bought some amazing gifts for myself there:D

  13. Be sure to check that you receive your benefit. We bought a glass of beer and should have received a buy one get one free. We were told that didn't apply. I took our sheet with my receipt down to guest relations and the charge was corrected. Just check to be sure you check your sheet that your attendant leaves in your room.

They did have buy one get one free for specialty restaurants on first and second nights of the sailing.

  14. My opinion is that they have pushed the pricing on the individual drinks to make the option of taking the package seem more attractive. You need to evaluate between how much you drink and also on the itinerary as a busy cruise means that you are off the ship all the time on tours etc and are not able to take advantage of your drink package. If you enjoy between 5 and 7 drinks a day and you like specialty coffee's and wine with dinner it is the way to go.

    Happy sailing

Well stated. Sailing on a transatlantic cruise with five sea days might tip the scales for me. When you are in port you tend to party there.

  15. Unless you order top shelf, the drinks you posted should be $6 - $8 + tip.

Be sure to ask for house brand when ordering. Not all bars charge the same amount. If you don't specify they will charge call charges. I noticed on our 15 day transatlantic different bars charge higher prices even for house brands. Look at your receipt it will have the name of the bar you can compare.

  16. Not sure why the negative posts from some about Captains table or the benifits given to Pinnacle cruisers. We all have the choice to sail in a Suite now to get top benifits. Pinnacles have sailed on many cruises, might have been an inside or the Royal Suite, who knows. What is important you can book a suite and basically have same perks, except for possible friendship of staff, that takes time

    and repeat sailing.

My understanding is Liberty will have Suite Lounge and the CL lounge has changed to card room. I will find out on Feb 7, was in hopes I we old still have CL perks but if not heck I am on vacation with no cedar trees around.
