  1. Hi,we are princess cruisers but saw a perfect itinery on nov.21 this year.Dubai to Capetown this ticks our last 2 boxes on our bucket list Africa and India. We are already booked on princess at this time so looked for next year but not listed. Is anyone familiar with this itinery or is it a 1 off? Is there a chance it may be added next year at a later date?Thank you in advance for any info, cheers,Brian.

  2. Punta Arenas (Costa Rica) is not a get off the ship and walk around port so unless there are ship's tours available, I don't know why you would be schedules on Christmas to dock there.

This is a port that involved long drives to get to any tourist sites and there is only a two lane highway where the average speed is about 35 mph.

I wouldn't chance arranging a private tour in this port and missing the ship.

hi,sorry i forgot there are 2 punta arenas,my one is in chile, cheers brian.
  3. hi,we will be on star this year at this time.the ships excursions are not open yet but the aviator website show tours are available on this day.does anyone have experience of tours on christmas day or is it a computer oversight and everywhere is shut?cheers, brian.

  4. hi,we use our santander zero card which doesnt charge any fees and gives current market rate at time of transaction.this card is no longer available to new cardholders but someone posted on forum that halifax do a similar card.we live in italy but our income is in sterling so we use this card for any expense over 30 euros as the current rate is 1.36 and the cash we have was exchanged at 1.27 at christmas.this card is a godsend for us for cruising and everyday living, cheers brian.

  5. I don't know if it's available in the UK or Italy but in the US by going to the Cruise Personalizer's "Vacation Protection" tab for your cruise you should be able to learn the cost & as I recall it was about 6%-8%

hi,thanks for that i couldnt find on uk site, only mentioned in question and answer section but no details of how to book and fee.it must be available because it was in that section.any more info from anyone would be appreciated, thanks again, cheers, brian.ps we are platinum on our next cruise so should be relevant for us.

  6. hi cm,sorry to hijack this thread slightly but one question,do avios expire after a year.we flew ba to auckland and back from sydney in 2013 to sail on diamond and got quite a few thousand avios.a few weeks ago we booked the machu pichu explorer cruise tour.we booked flights via expedia saving a few hundred quid.the itenary is lhr to madrid, mad to lima and return from rio all with ba code sharing with iberia.ba gave us 12500 avios each, when i logged on avios account the kiwi and aussie points had gone.can these be retrieved somehow, cheers brian.ps the princess air had no ba option, only american airlines via dallas or miami, which took 20 odd hours.

  7. hi,we are doing our first ever xmas and new year cruise this year.just a few questions.us brits have a xmas lunch with turkey, roast pots, brussels etc.would this be on offer in evening on xmas day or is there a different american equivelant,or do you guys have the same as us,also is this a formal evening.any other info of this day would be appreciated, cheers brian.

  8. That is in the USA.

Australia laws allow companies accepting credit cards to optionally add a surcharge.

hi,its the same in uk also.i booked a cruise online direct with princess last week and the surcharge only popped up at payment stage.lucky i had a fcc from last year and used that, cheers brian.

  9. hi,we have just booked this cruisetour and on the itinery there is a slot on the last day called tipping info.what is the norm for this 6 day tour?we were all almost bullied into paying a large tip at the beginning of a nile cruise a few years ago, because everyone was there at once you didnt want to be seen as a tight sod so everyone coughed up,great psychology, cheers brian.

  10. Bearing in mind I was extremely fit with daily gym workouts when we went(lapsed a little since then) and my husband not at all, he managed well, better than I did. Although I didn't suffer from altitude sickness I became extremely short of breath when climbing any heights. There is a lot of climbing to be done in Machu Piccu and the sacred valley. It didn't spoil my enjoyment, nothing could have, it was an amazing place to visit but I was surprised at how it affected me. I would have hated not to have acclimatised before our visit and I don think I would have done so with a 3 day tour. We had six days in an amazing hotel in the sacred valley and return flights from Toronto for $1200 each. I arranged our own tour of MP and all our other tours which amounted to a further $500 for the two of us so a lot cheaper and incredibly enjoyable

hi,what was the name of tour company for MP,cheers brian.

  11. hi suzez,we are thinking of doing same trip in 2016 from BA.we want to see rio but the cruise from there misses out on other ports,so will do this independantly booking our own air probably via expedia.any advise for us also on this option would be appreciated.the price for 3 days in rio with own air to BA works out cheaper than princess air just for cruisetour, cheers brian.
