Was all blocked off and they made us go all the way out again after dropping off our checked bags,  rejoining the massive traffic back up, just to come all the way back around the circle again.... before going up the ramp.  Not sure why they were doing that.  It was a mess.

Once up the ramp, very easy to find a spot.  Maybe it was just early, but it was almost 10 am.  Usually the parking garage opens at 9:30.

On our last cruise we didn’t arrive quite as early as you did but we had the same kind of traffic pattern. We were going around in circles, cris-crossing with the new incoming traffic. It was an absolute mess!

  2. We’re on Wonder for our first time in September, so I’ll be following along. The Wonder cruise will complete our run of sailing all of the currently available Oasis class ships.

We do have a date or 2 with Allure (B2B) coming up first though. 😀🛳️ I loved that ship when we sailed her on our first cruise following the restart.

Edit: I just went back and checked your signature to see when you would be on Allure. We get off the day you will be boarding. 😕 Sorry we won’t get to meet you.

It was! I was a bit afraid of the menu, but my server helped me make decisions that worked for me!

I’m afraid of the menu at Wonderland, too. In my case it’s due to food allergies and also the fact that I’m not at all an adventurous eater. I hope I can get up the nerve to try it at some point because the overall experience does look like fun.

Thanks for letting me know about breakfast/brunch pre-orders.  Since I have allergies that greatly affect the regular menus, I'm sure they'll want me to pre-order those, too...and I never even thought about those meals til now...

I have food allergies and have been to brunch numerous times. Never preordered and that was never a problem. We’re on Allure in about 2 months and am hoping they’ll offer brunch at least on our 4 day segment where we have two sea days. It’s highly unlikely to be offered on our 3 day leg since we have no sea days.  Guess I’ll find out soon enough.

Mr. High maintenance paid me another visit this evening. It didn’t go well. I tried to take the high road but some people think things should be how they want them to be. Well I’m not a crew member and I can do as I wish. I just pulled my money back when he sat down. No problem I’ll just let him do his thing. I’m in no hurry. He didn’t like that. He declared he didn’t want to play the table if I wasn’t playing with him. I’m not one to mince words. I informed him I wouldn’t ever be playing with him. I felt bad for the dealer. I realize they’d prefer everyone get along. He then proceeded to tell me I needed to let him know why. Well I don’t need to explain myself to anybody. I’m on vacation.

He unfortunately didn’t stop there. He tried to ask me after that about strategy. Well I wasn’t having it. If you can’t be nice to the crew I ain’t gonna be nice to you. I informed him I have zero interest in speaking to him. He didn’t like that. He gambled most of his remaining funds then stormed off saying he’d keep playing if I wasn’t sitting there. Again, I wasn’t playing at the table while he was there. I simply sat and let him do his thing.

Good for you, @Denversail!  The dealer was probably glad to see him gone, too.

You are welcome!  Having an ‘audience’ helped motivate me 😀

Enjoy your cruise…Allure is my favorite.

    Cheers,

Allure is my favorite, too! I purposely chose her for this cruise because we will qualify for our first crystal block on the first leg of our B2B so that’s the block we will get. I just wish she was doing seven day cruises instead of these silly 3 and 4 day runs. That’s just not enough time on a ship like Allure!

Impressive to be able to do the SeaBob and Segway on the same day. I would imagine the arm can be sore to be stretched out for an extended period.

I tend to forget that I’m not as young as I used to be anymore. I really enjoyed both activities very much while I was doing them, but after being as tired and sore afterwards I think I’ve gotten a little wiser and am no longer scheduling so much in one day.

Good luck with that,  when my wife and I started cruising We were both around 300lbs. That was Voyager in 2006.  25dinner.thumb.jpg.2098db8c5a820c26b9b91327bac2c0dc.jpg

When we board Wonder this spring I will be 200 and she is 140. carnival.thumb.jpg.a68cb653c1ce1d316dac460205d9c334.jpg

I think I gained 13 pounds that first cruise.  You can still watch what you eat and have a great cruise. Good luck going forward, it can be done!

Bill and Gina, you two are looking great!

Another loyalty benefit. You get your first at 140, and every 70 points after.

    I hit 420 this cruise.

We get our first crystal block in April on Allure. I’m excited to be getting it.  I never thought we would cruise enough to make Diamond 💎 when we first started cruising, never mind get a crystal block.

  9. It doesn’t surprise me that you’ve done your research on the NY subway 🚇 system. You’ll have no problem getting around the city.

Thanks for the memories of Akashi Beach. We did a Segway tour to get to the beach with multiple sightseeing stops along the way.  Next i went out on a SeaBob tour from Arashi. After that, some time on the beach for a swim and some refreshments. Our day ended when the owner of the company drove us back to the pier. I believe we visited our crazy aunt in the basement 😀 before we went back on board. I loved every minute of our day, but my arms were so sore from the SeaBob that the next day that I had a hard time doing my hair to get ready for formal night! 😂

You’re a real glutton for punishment in that casino!

I learned a long time ago that I never win anything and I get really bored really fast when I don’t win anything. That is enough to convince me to stay out of the casino! I figure I’m way ahead because I still have all of the money I didn’t lose. 😂

The down side of my staying out of the casino is that I’m never going to get an offer for a free casino cruise. 😕

Are you going to rent a car for NYC? I don't think I would want to drive or park there. Or is it pretty much walkable or Uber/Taxi? We've never been there.

Definitely don’t rent a car in NYC! When we still lived in CT and went in to the city frequently we always left our car at home and took the train into the city, then subways to get around. As you would anywhere, just keep your wits around you and you’ll be fine.

  12. Harry, my legs are screaming at me just looking at that rocky climb you did! In my much younger days I would have thought it was fun. Now, not so much. I will not choose that tour the next time we’re in Aruba. Good thing there are different kinds of tours for different kinds of people. Put me on a beach, I’ll be happy. Beach with good snorkeling, even better! 😎🏝️🐠

  13. Harry, I hope that this new atmospheric river I keep hearing about leaves you alone! I think about you and your family every time the weather forecasters bring the subject up!

I’m glad you were able to get your visitor trip sorted out and that you were able to take your planned tour even though it left late. I guess I have been lucky with the few Viator tours I have booked since everything went well for us.

My surgically repaired kneed would not have liked walking down those steep rock stairs you went down. I would have been clutching that metal rail tightly and hoping that it wasn’t too hot!

  14. Thank you very much for a great cruise report. We’re back on Allure in about 2 months, so hearing about your time on Oasis certainly helped me get excited - not that I need any help getting excited about going on a cruise. 😂

You also helped me get fully on track with my own exercise program. I had started to struggle with getting my workouts in due to a decline in my own motivation. Seeing you getting all of your workouts in helped me get back on track with my own.

  15. Thank you very much for the review. I enjoyed following along with you. I thought you did a great job with your writing. 👍

We’ve been sailing mostly on the bigger, newer ships and have enjoyed them very much, but we keep talking about sailing one of the older, smaller ships, specifically out of Tampa. Sailing under the Sunshine Skyway bridge would be a big attraction for us.

We tried booking out of Tampa once, but apparently it wasn’t meant to be. First, the ship was taken over by a full ship charter so we were bumped. Even without that though we still wouldn’t have cruised because of the pandemic 😷 shutdown. I’ve been a little afraid to try again! 😱😂

Hope you have a great cruise with your family on the second leg of your B2B. 🛳️

I definitely see myself coming back here! I was contemplating trying either the salmon or tilapia just to see if my taste buds have forgotten my choking experience when I was in 1st grade…but I have had 2 friends who developed sudden fish allergies, and I am not sure that a ship is the place to try fish just in case my reaction was really my body protecting me

I’m one of those people with seafood allergies that have gotten way worse since I got older. There is no way I would risk trying fish on a cruise ship! Any reaction at all would totally ruin a cruise for me. I don’t even test my luck at home any more. At this point for me “Fish are friends, not food! “ !

Ha! I just hoofed it from aft to forward and got to the theater just as the port shopping sales pitch was letting out. Slipped in and got in line and got the bracelet anyway!

Good timing! You got the best of both worlds!  😀😂
