  1. two options. One, Vigie Beach. Walking distance from the piers, lovely long stretch of beach with calm waters, lots of shade, etc. However, no amenities to speak of. There are some food and rum shacks further down the beach near the entrance to the airport, and there are the bathrooms at the airport. No chairs for rent, no umbrellas, no real restaurants or bars around, etc. But - a very pretty beach, lots of shade, etc.

Two: Reduit Beach. This one is about 25 minutes north of the port by taxi ($30US one way), long stretch of beach with calm swimming waters, water sports for hire, chairs and umbrellas for hire, beach bars, vendors with coolers for beers and water, lots of dining around the village, and some shopping if you want.

So, enjoy wherever you end up!!

    Thanks

  2. Reduit Beach in Rodney Bay is your best bet for that type of beach day. Long stretch of beach, umbrellas/chairs for rent, beach bars, watersports for hire, swimming area, etc. 25-30 minutes from port and $30US one way. Ask to be dropped off at Spinnakers (that's where the taxis normally drop off/pick up).

Lots of threads on here with photos and info.

    Enjoy your visit.

$30 for the cab or $30 per person?

  3. You can't beat Great Bay for cheap - but it seems a shame, after coming all that way, to focus more on saving a few $ than having a great beach day.

Yes it is but our cruise has 6 port of calls and for a family of four $50-$100 excursions add up fast so just gathering some options. What beach would you recommend for a great beach day?

  4. Royal does not offer jet skiing on any of their excursions in St. Maarten/St Martin. If you want to jet ski, you can either take a taxi to Orient Beach or book a beach excursion with RCI that goes over to Orient Beach, then you'll be able to rent jet skis on the beach independently.

I know you can rent jet skis on Labedee Haiti with RCI.

Any idea how much it costs to rent a jet ski at Orient Beach?

  5. You can also take the bus past Maho to near the next beach which is the beautiful Mullet Bay beach. If you have snorkeling gear there are fish to see over by the rocks on the left. Retrace your bus route and walk over to Maho. The walk is easy and interesting and takes no more than 15 minutes. Mullet is one of my faviorite beaches and plane and people watching at Maho one of my faviorite activities so this combo makes for an ideal way to spend a day on the island.

Where do you catch the bus from the ship? Which bus?
