  1. The couch in the living room is turned into a bed by the steward or butler in the evening. It is closed back to a couch during the day. My son loved it. he said it was comfy. He was 10 at the time. It is right next to the balcony, so he had a great view to wake up too. My parents slept in the master bedroom where there is a door that closes. My husband and I slept on the bed that is also converted from a couch in the 2nd bedroom, plenty of room for 2 adults on the bed. My daughter slept on the pull down bed in out room. There are 2 bathrooms and 2 showers. Plenty of storage and closets. worth every penny and 6 people can def live there for a week!

    Thanks for the info!

What would you choose 2 balcony cabins or the 2 bedroom suite for 4 adults?

  2. mattR, off topic but just an FYI. Our family will also be on the 12 day Gem out of NYC in December. I just got off the phone with our TA, the price has dropped since we originally booked, only a couple of weeks ago. She is re-booking for us at the lower price. Price drop will cover the cost of our travel insurance and a few drinks on board! :D

Thanks for the heads up I checked but still the same price from when I booked. We are tempted to bring the kids as they would only be $181 each but my son is in grade 11 next year and just can't see pulling him for two weeks:(

  3. We are booked on a 12 night sailing on the Gem out of NYC Dec 1/14. My sister is interested in coming along with my mother, however my sister would be interested in leaving the ship early and hopefully fly back from Barbados. Would that be allowed? The port before Barbados is St Lucia if that makes a difference?

  4. Are any of the staterooms on the Gem misclassified or better then others in the same category? When I was researching the Disney Wonder there were certain cabins that had bigger balcony's or unobstructed views that were supposed to be obstructed or a port hole that was supposed to be an inside. Some cabins larger then others same cat. Is there a list of such cabins for the Gem?

  5. It MAY be open by then - but no guarantees as bridge construction scheduling above the trail has disappointed in the past. You can walk there in 30 or less minutes along trail - if it is closed you have to walk St. Patrick Street, across a small bridge, Main Street then Douglas Ave - will add 10 minutes to your walk.

Taxis are cheap here - probably around $7 to get there is a bus can take you from Loyalist Plaza there for $2.75

Theres four of us so I guess we will do the taxi thing if the trail is closed. Is there a taxi stand at the drop off area for the jet boats or will they call us one?
