I've done this almost every cruise out of Port Canaveral. Usually go to Disney first, because that is more exhausting. Take Magical Express over to WDW, take it back to MCO, rent a car, drive to Port Canaveral and stay the night before a cruise there. We use the car to go to Publix and get wine, soda, etc. Next morning, drop the car off at the rental place and they then shuttle us to the ship. Coming home, rental company will pick us up and then we have a car for the day. Drop it back off at MCO. It's as cheap as 3 people on the shuttle (or cheaper) and allows us to catch cheaper flights back in the evening.

Also check the Tube of You for videos of cabins. Just put in the ship and large interior stateroom.
Have a great cruise!

I picked up a bag that my mother left at Port Canaveral once. I went back to the port and showed ID and got it at the same pier the ship was usually docked at. But that was with Carnival.

Call C&A at 800-526-9723 and ask them to link your husband. He will have your C&A level when you cruise.
Also, if your son is under age 18 and lives at the same address, then he can be linked with you.
Thank you, thank you! I called and all is taken care of! Maybe I can talk hubby into upgrading to a JS to get double points! (not -- he's an accountant!)

My BIL did. He married my sister last year, and went on their honeymoon on Serenade. She was already
Diamond. ;)
Does this mean my husband gets my status when we cruise next year? He's never been on RCCL and I am Platinum.
And would my son also? This will be his first cruise also.
Thanks!

Thanks everyone. That's one less thing to worry about!

Just a wild shot, but do you know if they will give me the cheese plate with a cloche to take back to the room? I have to have some protein with my evening meds. I probably would only do it one or two nights, as it would last more than one night in the small frig.

I had the massage at Mr. Sanchos. Much cheaper than the ship and was well worth it!

I have close friends that cruise often. Their daughter has a huge allergy to latex and they have had no problems on Carnival cruises.

Also, be aware that the airport won't let you start going through it until you are less than 4 hours before your flight. If your tour gets you there sooner than that, there is a sports bar at the airport, but not in the airport that you can sit at and have a beer/drink, watch TV, etc. But with you having a 4:00 flight, I think you will be fine.

I've only gotten sea sick once on a HAL cruise when the stabalizers (?) were broken it was my only HAL cruise and my only inside cabin...lol. I've seen that Ginger gum ...does it work well? The dramamine makes me tired!!

I love the Ginger Mints from Trader Joe's. Never travel without them. I don't get seasick, but often get queasy on long airline trips.

We had prebooked with a tour company on St. Kitts and arrived 5 minutes early and they were gone! Luckily, we were not out any money and booked with a another group to do the same itinerary for less money. Also, there will be people in the dock area with monkeys wanting tips to let you take a picture holding the monkeys. great pictures. Our tour ended at a Beach that my husband would have been happy to stay at all day -- Carabella Beach.
In St. Maarten, we've done our own thing several times, taking a taxi to Marigot (the French Capitol) and wandering around, enjoying the Marchet (Market), having brunch, just enjoying the town (I was born in France, so this feels wonderful to me). We've also gone to Orient Beach --There is a non-nude part also and just went to the beach in Phillipsburg and shopped too.
It was so long ago that I was in Barbados (25 years!!!) that I can't recommend what to do there and I've never been to St. Lucia.
Have a great trip!

looking forward to this review!

MCO is notorious for having horrible security lines. Lots of people from all the amusement parks, conventions, etc., besides cruise lines. The port is an 45 minutes to an hour away from the airport. And who wants to be stressed after a vacation?

I remember popping the ones that washed up on shore with sticks when I was little!
The man o war have tentacles. You can see them in my photo. Early June I can usually get acclimated to the water after a minute or so. When I went in May I couldn't. The Man O War seem less prevalent in June. I did not see a single one last June, went the second week. In June the lifeguards are on duty at Horseshoe and they do put out warnings if there are swarms of man o war. Also they pick them up from the beach. At Warwick Long Beach you are on your own. -
wonderful review! I can't wait until May!
I noticed in the debarking material that there was a zone for transfers to Times Square. We are going to NYC after our cruise for a few days. Not sure where we are staying yet, but Times Square location is possible. Do you remember how much this was?

Oh, my! Things have really changed in 15 years! We are sailing on the Anthem next May and I have a few questions.
1. If we buy the Soda package for both my son and my husband, do they have to use the provided coke glass to get a soda, or can they just go up to any bar and get one?
2. How much are the specialty restaurants on Anthem? We have been cruising Carnival and we always do a specialty dining one night at least.
I am so excited that I am getting my family to try RCCL.
Thanks for all your help.

This review looks like fun! We are doing this itinerary next year. I used to live in Bermuda, so I'm excited about returning and seeing how much it has changed!

LOL... people saying that cruise reps read these boards..
Really? you can search "rum runners" and see THOUSANDS upon THOUSANDS of posts.. not sure the cruise company has the time or the honestly care to read. If they do.. they are not going to hunt you down.
They don't break.. they rarely get caught... if you do.. they just take them from you.. move on..
do it.. don't do it.. camelback, military funnel system, Rum Runners, notes from Mom saying she said it is ok, smuggling live sea monkeys on board.. all of these are great .. do them all.. do none..
"my two bottles of wine are fine for the week" --good for you.. they wouldn't last me until dinner that night.. but then again they might be white wine, which I don't drink.. so it probably would last me all week if that's the case.. but if it was red wine.. then I would drink it.. but it would have to be served at 79 degrees.. Can they kick me off the ship for my red wine too warm? too cold? should I worry?
It never ceases to amaze me when people post things that surely will generate the flamers come out, are surprised when the flamers come out.
Enjoy life folks.. it is too short to worry about others.
I am going to try to find a platypus to smuggle on board... will he/she fit in a camelback?? will it rupture??
:)
I think we are related!

I'm following along for the ride! Great review so far. This is one of the cruises we are thinking of doing when my husband retires in a couple of years. We are thinking of doing a B2B, with extra time added in London and Paris. I mean, if I'm flying over there, I'm going to spend more than a week or two!

- I go on each cruise with a budget -- $400 each cruise--to gamble with on the cruise. Twice in the past 10 cruise I've gotten DOU. Hubby got the DOU card for the first time on the Dream last year. He was going poker, Ultimate Texas Hold'em and Craps. Neither of us got a bounce back, even though I had 4200 points. I go with a set budget and when I blow it, I'm done.

Cabin Question for Claustrophobic Cruisers
in Carnival Cruise Lines
Posted
Husband is a huge claustrophobic. He has to have sedation to be CT Scan, etc. We go back and forth on inside and Balcony rooms. He likes an inside because its cheaper, but only if its on the Lido deck, where he can go out easily. Our next cruise is on Royal, because we want to go to Bermuda. We have an inside there, but it has a virtual balcony -- an LCD screen that shows a view from a camera. We will see how it goes.
