  1. I have a CPAP and just use the tap water on the shop, since it is filter and has no minerals in it with no troubles over the past 10 cruises. You can also get a gallon of water for about $3. You might check with special needs department at Carnival.

  2. Distilled water is $3 a gallon. You used to have to notify them ahead of time if you were bringing one, but now its not necessary (or at least on my last email with the Special needs department they said so). You can also rent an extension cord from them by leaving a $50 deposit, but I always bring my own.

  3. Sorry for being dense, but is SAS the airport transportation to and from the port? I signed up for that when booking for our cruise next week. I believe it was $16/person each way? I was just thinking about this morning and was going to call Carnival to ask how it works. Do we need to arrange a pickup time from Miami Airport to the Splendor port? Or there just a location we go to at the airport and wait for a Carnival Shuttle?

Sorry if this a thread hijack, if it is different than SAS, I can just give them a call! :)

SAS is a private transport company from Ft. Lauderdale. If you signed up with Carnival for their transport from Miami airport, you will meet a Carnival Rep at the airport, they will point you to where the bus loads and when the bus is full, you will be taken to the port.

  4. I always let mine wear it around his neck on a lanyard. The casino would punch a hole in it and always gave me a lanyard until the last cruise in March. They would punch the hole, but they didn't want to give me a lanyard, since it says Carnival Players Club on it. First time I've ever had problems in the 16 cruises with carnival or RCCL. Luckily, I had another lanyard in the room and he used it.

  5. We were on the repositioning cruise and we went to St. Kitts. Easy to get an island tour right in the port area for about $25 that will drop you off at a beach for a couple of hours then pick you up and take you back to the port. Port will also have lots of guys with monkeys, wanting to let you take your picture with them for a small fee. I did hear one guy exclaiming his wallet had been stolen at the port area when we returned, so be careful of that.

The beach they dropped us off at was Carambola Beach. 2 chairs and an umbrella was $30. Food and drink was pretty expensive too, but good.

  6. When you say "scooter", are you meaning an electric cart (which most people seem to think you are saying) or are you meaning the scooter that you kneel on and push. If it is the Kneeler, you will be fine. It should fit through the doorway. It just might get a little crowded in the room with it.

I would definitely suggest a collapsible wheelchair. Easier to get around in port (you can take turns pushing or she can push herself), and allows her to rest. As someone who has had 14 surgeries on her legs, I can attest that standing, even when using a kneeler scooter is not fun.

    Have a great trip!

  7. First time to cruise, first time to post here on Cruise Critic. I can't find where to "roll call" for the cruise I am taking. By reading some of the reviews I ahve been able to find, it sounds like I have made a mistake by choosing this ship and cruise. Can someone who knows how to use this site a little better that I please tell me if I have and how to find out more about my cruise? Thanks -t

On the main forum page, there is a section for Roll calls. Click on Carnival, click on your ship, then scroll down until you see your sailing date. Click on it and join in talking!

  8. Oakwood Plaza is right behind the Hampton Inn. It has a K-Mart, Marshalls, BJ's Warehouse, lots of other places.

As for food, I remember there is a Dave and Busters, TGI Fridays, Sweet Tomatoes, Red Lobster, etc.

It is a long and narrow shopping area, with some sidewalks. I remember we walked to Dave and Busters, but took a cab back because I have problems walking long distances. I made it to the restaurant, but my ankle swelled and we couldn't make it back. Walking to K-Mart isn't far and they have a limited wine/liquor selection.

  9. I like Royal, but I wouldn't call them Nicer than Carnival. Their newer ships have more activities. Food is not as good, IMHO. I would consider Celebrity a step up.

I cruise Carnival right now because when I can cruise (spring and fall break and summer -- I'm a teacher), they are cheaper. That and my husband doesn't want to change.
