  1. You can also ask for a Childs portion of any meal on the menu. Good luck!

This is a great piece of advice! I'm still barely eating 1/2 a container of greek yogurt right now for a meal! I can eat chicken almost anyway, but have a little trouble with red meat and some pork. I've not had any dumping, but the throwing up part is still a part of my life just a bit.

I love soups, so I will miss them, but I know protein is the main thing. Luckily, I love cheese and yogurt! Do they have Greek yogurt on the ships? I know they have cheeses and sliced meats at almost every meal on the buffet. I might take some baggies and put some in my frig for snack attacks!

  2. So thankful for this thread! I just had surgery 3 weeks ago and I'm just learning what I can and cannot eat. (cheese-good, bacon-evil) I know that I'll be good with soups. I haven't tried fried foods and I know bread doesn't sit well. My cruise isn't until the middle of March, but that is just a little over 2 months away. It's all so scary, trying to remember everything and what to bring, ie protein powder and a shaker, etc., as well as all my vitamins, etc.

  3. How do you set up a Player's Bank? I don't play slots, only Black Jack. So can you use your card at a Black Jack table or just cash?

You can use your card, but it will cost you 3% more to do that. Easiest thing is to use the Slot machine like an ATM -- set up account, download money to machine, spin a few times. Load money on card, then go to cage and take money off card. You don't get the upcharge that way.

  4. I am part of the Valor/Liberty switch. My Valor cruise on March 22 was cancelled. Been trying all weekend to book the Liberty for March 22 on its repositioning cruise to San Juan. No luck so far, since PVP is out of town and when I call Carnival, they can't book it on the regular phone line. I can book it online, but I need to make sure we get our On board credit for the cancellation, etc. It's driving me batty!

Oh, and did I mention I can't book the same room on the Liberty as I had on the Valor because its a Quad and there are only 3 of us?

  5. Oh, that sounds promising! :D What did he like doing the best?

What are the hours of CC in the evening? 5:00pm - 10:00pm?

CC usually closes at 5:00 and then opens back up in the Lido Deck restaurant for kids to eat there with other kids at 6:00. They will then walk them to CC after dinner and they can stay until 10:00 no charge. They will play games, have contests, make crafts, all kinds of things. It varies from ship to ship.

At 10:00 starts the Night Owl program, which charges. Some nights, its a movie/video games, some nights special parties with party favors like stuffed animals, backpacks, T-shirts, even alarm clocks!

My son was 5 when he started going to CC and that is his favorite thing! He begs to eat with his friends and loves being able to stay up late. He will turn 12 on the next cruise, and I will keep him with the 9-11 year old group.

  6. Thanks, everybody! I guess my biggest concern is that I won't be able to sit in my chair and see out. At 5'2" I'm thinking I may have to stand to see. Anyone else have any issues such as this? Also, can they be opened up between your neighbor like the regular balconies?

I'm 5'2" and I had no trouble looking out on our Cove while sitting down. As for opening between cabins, I can't answer that.

  7. We were just in 2321 on the Breeze (2 doors down from you). No galley noises, but we would hear the music in the evenings when the waiters dance/sing. It doesn't last long. What we did hear a lot of was the noise of the water crashing against the side. DH loved it, said it lulled him to sleep. We would definitely book a Cove again. (This was our first one.)

  8. I'm so glad everything is going well!

My husband and I took a cruise when our son was about a 10 months. It was wonderful. I did miss him, but he enjoyed his time with the grandparents and we enjoyed our time together. I did miss him terribly, but we called home from a couple of ports and I don't think he missed us near as much!

    Go, have a great time!
