  1. Looking forward to your review, we are doing essentially the same itinerary next spring. We love this cruise, we wanted to do it a second time before the ports close down. Always appreciate hearing what works and what doesn't work.
  2. Since Royal Caribbean cannot tell you what this is, challenge this through the credit card
  3. About the latest you can get off the ship is 9:30. You have to be out of your cabin by 8 or 8:30. The way we have dealt with late flights is to take a Royal Caribbean excursion that carries your luggage, takes you somewhere and then takes you to the airport. Or we get a hotel day pass. We've also rented a car and go e exploring on our own.
  4. I'm definitely old, I think of an adult area as quiet, won't be that way with a non stop DJ! Looking forward to the reports on actually how loud it's going to be.
  5. I'll give many examples of how the food quality has decreased. The MDR food lacks flavor, it needs better seasoning. The quality of the meat includes lots of gristle and fat, it needs to be be better quality. Things that are hot should be hot, not lukewarm. Things that are fried should be crispy, not soggy. Gravy should be tailored to each dish, not the same gravy in every item. There should be a wider variety of vegetables served as sides. The salad dressings should go back to whatever brand they used 5 years ago, as all of the current ones taste strongly of vinegar, they are not balanced. There should be a greater variety on the menu. Missing from former menus are: classic menu items that are available daily, cold fruit soups, duck, lamb. It was lovely when they used to bring out the rolls on a tray, often they were warm. Not as many desserts should be jello or pudding based, there should be more that are actually baked.
  6. Go ahead and ask. Although the official position is "no", several people got permission to do it in French Polynesia on our transpacific this spring. There was also a planned excursion that did this in New Zealand. This may also be a country for exception, as both ports are in Spain.
  7. It's $75 to $100 more than we got to sit at port for Hurricane Sandy. Weather is considered an act of god and actually nothing needs to be done, nice of them to offer anything
  8. You can set up a wake up call on your in room phone. I find it more reliable than my cell 9hk e because sometimes the cell sets to a different time zone.
  9. People say they've had good success with hair straightener and/or Downy Wrinkle Release. You can also hang your clothes in the bathroom when you take a shower
  10. Not for the Diamond voucher free drinks. There are no autographs.
  11. I prefer to think that I'm contributing to the good of 3rd world countries. It doesn't pain me at all to tip on a free drink. I appreciate good service.
  12. You must have missed the fact that after he polished his teeth with his finger, he then went over and touched multiple desserts. That's just disgusting.
  13. I'm so sorry for all the people who are affected by this. At least if you're going out of Florida and this happens, you can turn around and say I think I'll go to the beach for the week. Hopefully people can make the best of their situation.
  14. We are well over 60 and love the Odyssey. The menus are terrible everywhere, but we try to do a mix of specialty dining and Solarium Bistro and avoid the MDR. The transatlantics tend to be predominantly those of retirement age, as school is in session and they are longer cruises. They generally have better than average evening entertainment and often the theater staff do solo shows in the afternoon. There are enrichment lectures, never ending trivia, different exercise classes, line dancing, bingo, skydiving, flow rider, basically something for everyone.
  15. Rather be stuck on a cruise than almost anywhere else! Just stinks for those with same day flight reservations, but I'm sure the airlines are aware of the issue. Enjoy your time
  16. Yes, this is your suite. I've never had my cabin changed after the bar code is set. Maybe it could happen, hope others will chime in on this. Once you've gotten your official notification of your cabin number and you are from North America, you can call and get your cabin changed for the exact same cabin class. If you've been assigned a J3, you can't switch into a J4, for instance.
  17. If they are selling just a one day lunch, you can make reservations by buying the day offered. If you have the Ultimate Dining Package, you can only book on board. My experience is that they only offer specialty dining at lunch on sea days.
  18. Here's an article about specialty dining prices: https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2023/08/23/royal-caribbean-raises-prices-some-of-its-specialty-restaurants I've also seen a huge surge in UDP prices. Last Spring I took a 10 day cruise with 4 sea days, UDP was around $270 before the 18%. Next Spring the UDP for a 7 day with one sea day is $370. I guess the drop in quality in the MDR is helping drive up prices in other areas.
  19. I haven't seen anyone mention this, but try to get a cabin with the bed by the window, rather than next to the bathroom. It's easier to store your scooter
  20. I don't have to sit through 3 courses of mediocre food to eat a slice of mediocre pizza.
  21. I feel very badly for all of you who find the food in the MDR better than you eat at home. Since Covid, we've only eaten in the MDR a few times, generally we get the UDP. The only time we do the MDR is if we are traveling with kids or can't get UDP. We've been known to "snack" our dinner by getting a few slices of pizza from Sorrento, then the charcuterie plate at Vintages and finish up with salad and dessert in the Windjammer.
  22. This is the age of my granddaughters and I don't trust them out of my sight. They have very little common sense. The 7 year old stood on a chair to look over the balcony to see the seal on the dock. Luckily I was there to stop her. She could have been a statistic.
