Looks like everything is going A-Ok.... hopefully it will stay that way and we will be boarding by January 2021 🙂

I'm getting a little anxious.... first time booking a cruise in a new ship that isn't even finished yet. Hopefully everything will be running smoothly by Jan 16th 🙂

Good question, we have a cruise planned for Jan 2021, and we can’t book anything from the planner yet in the way of dinning or drink packages.
Same here, no beverage packages, dining, activities, etc. Only shore excursions available.

You can login/logout as needed, as long as there are no more than the number of devices you purchased codes for connected. Obviously once you logout there's no internet anymore on that device.
-
You must be very careful to log off when needed. Nothing feels worse than forgetting to log off your laptop which you left at your stateroom, which you noticed when you got to your table at the MDR and had no Internet access and no way to login.

I'd stay away from deck 14 because of possible noise issues from the pool deck directly above.
To be honest, I've been on cabins 14177 and 14193 and had no noise or other complains.

I can't complain about it in the AOTS... both in 2016 and 2017. My only complain was that, at times, they couldn't make pizza fast enough to satisfy the crowd.

I recommend using a VPN if security is a concern.
+1
Having an "unsecured" wifi network, such as in the ship, only allows anyone to sniff on your traffic in your surroundings. Sounds bad, but it isn't really. Even with a "secured" wifi network, if the website you're browsing doesn't use an encrypted connection, you simply cannot assume it's secure since the data is traveling through the whole internet in plain text, passwords included.
-
You should not trust any internet service at all. Use encrypted connections, do update your computer's software, etc. Having a "secured" wifi will not help.

Following. Getting on board on 31st, so obviously worried.

Having the refreshment package, I had no trouble asking for a coke in Samba Grill, MDR, Chops, Giovanni's, Sorrento's and Windjammer. Also no problem in the Amber Theater and Aqua Theater. Of course it was from the fountain, not cans.

On Allure we had smoothies in the Vitality Cafe, but I can't tell about Adventure. Hope this helps a bit.
-
Did it on the Allure last December at full price. Worth every dollar of it. We will be doing it again this December.

I agree with your take on the Windjammer...but I have never been a fan of buffets. And on a ship this size it is quite challenging to say the least.
The announcement you heard about hurry up and leave is because boarding day is the worst!! In order to kill time before the rooms are ready at 1pm, people will camp out at a table and not leave. That makes it impossible for those coming in to find a seat.
Sadly it seems people have no common sense anymore!!
Exactly! We saw some people that clearly had finished their meal, yet they were still there for a long time. If you ask me, that's a very lame way of starting your cruise. We had a lot to walk around the ship and we didn't like the Windjammer anyway, so after a quick pause after lunch, we went elsewhere.
-
I avoid the windjammer like the plague. Don’t care for the cattle lined up for feeding time. Sorry, just my take.
It was our first cruise so we wanted to try it anyway to know first hand how bad it was. Because we boarded very early (before noon), we decided to go for it. We didn't find a line at the entrance and went straight ahead. Finding a table required some walking around, but we did find one. We could have lunch without any issues, but it simply felt too rushed for us... too many people walking around... too noisy... and the recording basically saying "hurry up and get out" doesn't help. We didn't go back for the entire cruise and will not go back for our upcoming one. A single time was more than enough for us.

We did Chef's Table, Chops and Samba Grill. The best experience overall was at Chef's Table. The best service is a tie between Chef's Table and Chops (had superb waiter). Service at Samba Grill was maybe a tad too slow, but very good nonetheless. As per the food quality, we were more than satisfied with all of them, but Chef's Table and Chops were better than the rest (though, to be fair, you can't compare Chef's Table to the rest).

Last year I had the same question with the Allure. In addition to that, it was my first cruise ever. What really helped me was, as mentioned by others, looking at the deck plans. Also useful are the different experiences (i.e. Windjammer is too small for the size of the ship and too crowded most of the time) you can find on this board. Usually what applies to the Oasis also applies to the Allure and vice-versa. All this helped me feel just at home when boarding the ship. Hope it helps.

glad to hear that WiFi calling worked I am planning to do that also. Were the calls clear?
Thank you
Yes, they were crystal clear about 95%+ of the time. We used the Wifi calling feature from our carrier (i.e. Movistar from Peru), but not Whatsapp calling (used Whatsapp for text only, didn't try calling), so I cannot talk about it.
-
I was anything between 6-8 mbps. Latency was good (considering it was satellite-based) and I could even use Wifi calling with no issues. Long story short, I couldn't find a anything that wouldn't work (not saying that everything works, just everything that *I* tried worked).

Just off the Allure today. It was listed as an excursion in the Compass and it was also shown as an excursion on the shore excursion channel in the stateroom.
Great! Thanks for the heads up :) Will do that as soon as we get into the ship :)
-
We've just reserved this excursion for our new year cruise. Looking forward to it!
-
When we were last on the Oasis, it was not on the cruise planner in advance, and we had to book it first day on the ship. It is a great tour, and well worth the dollars spent.

When was it? Guess I'll have to do that too :)
-
Yes! Fingers crossed here too! I regretted not taking the tour last year and hope I can do it this one.

For our December 31th sailing, the behind the scenes tour doesn't seem to be available on the cruise planner. Does anyone know something about this or is experiencing the same?
