  1. May have also been itinerary. You are going to get a different crowd on an Alaskan cruise than you are on a Caribbean cruise. And, I didn't address how other passengers dressed. Only him, the others that joined them dressed (Sports jacket, open collar shirt, tie....) for dinner. Exercise pants, not sweats, for him.
  2. Traveling with two grandchildren...the butler has always kept a bowl full of all those goodies! It has always been appreciated!
  3. Certainly...wouldn't want Rosroz biting my head off for going to far astray.
  4. Wow....didn't need one in 1969 and I was there for longer than 90 days and even worked!🤣
  5. Having sailed Oceania once, we thought the food was very good but not raving great. One feature we enjoyed was the touchless buffet. You point, they plate, they serve. Regardless of what some say about Oceania not trying to up sale, they do have two beverage packages and we thought the basic one kind of sucked. I agree with this assessment. We have friends we met while living overseas who have more money than most people on this site and who could afford suites on the most expensive luxurious cruise line. However, when they cruise they never want to feel pressured to dress up. They have favored Carnival for that reason and no other. With relaxed dress codes across the cruising spectrum, we have encouraged them to consider other lines that offer more than Carnival offers.
  6. And, oh by the way.....how about the French Champagne industry being saved by American rootstock!?!
  7. I encourage people considering Azamara to take 30 minutes or so and visit the Azamara Forum. It contains less postings than X's forum. There are a lot less complaint threads and many more positive ones. We are booked on a TA in November with them aboard the "ONWARD", so have been monitoring the goings on there. All in all, much more upbeat than X's forum.
  8. Never had a problem with cold breakfast food.
  9. Yes, so I have learned, but this tread regards pre-purchase.
  10. No worries mate! We don't look down at anyone. One night out of many dressed like that. Again, and I can't explain why, GS and GD request a dress-up night on each cruise we take. Taking their parents and them on an NCL 7-nighter in Jan and they told me this afternoon they want to dress for one dinner.
  11. Good to know! Thanks for the update!
  12. Elite+...Not locked into X or any other cruise line. Itinerary, timing and cabin availability are the guiding lights.
  13. Welcome to Japan. Prices on everything are higher.
  14. Yup....When I "dressed" it was to get someone's attention and elevate the atmosphere from casual to serious.
  15. Retired from a job where I, depending upon what I was doing, could be dressed in street clothes or a suit. Discovered when I had a second encounter wearing a suit with someone I had first encountered wearing street clothes the entire atmosphere of the encounter was different and generally more productive!
  16. Prices there could be much higher than on board the ship.
  17. Thanks....GS started it all one day at WalMart. He saw an inexpensive kiddy pair of slacks, matching vest, and tie. Told DW he wanted to get that "Tuxedo". He was very young and we don't know where he got the term or idea. Bought it for him and then a couple of years later bought him an inexpensive tux on line.
  18. I quit drinking 5-years ago. The only time I drink now is when I'm on a cruise and believe me I have expensive tastes and get every penny's worth out of the upgraded package. I look at if from the perspective that I'm being comped the basic package, so I'm not really upgrading, but buying a simple package. It really doesn't take many of the higher priced drinks to "break even". And, No, I don't get drunk.
  19. How can you purchase the package on sale, when you have to wait until after boarding to pay for the upgraded package?!?
  20. With one exception, when we cruise (regardless of line) I wear a sports coat and pack slacks, button shirts, tie, and shoes to go with the ensemble. DW (a native German) packs evening wear she feels is appropriate for dinning out at a classy restaurant. Even with relaxed dress codes we have been know to pack formal wear. GS and GD LIKE to dress up for at least one diner per cruise and we don't discourage it. I know some fellow passengers may think we are showing off. We aren't, it is just who we are.
