  1. Lol no trashing warranted. I think I have see the "cheat sheet" your asking about. Someone made one a while ago. May try searching abbreviation lingo???

Oh thank you so much, it is so appreciated. I was a late starter my first cruise was in 2010 . Skipped 2011. But have gotten one cruise that year since then even booked and paid for 2015. 2. I thank everyone who kindly responded to my question yesterday and I have another today. Again, since it has been several years since sailing NCL and my last few have been on Princess I cannot remember these things.

I know with Princess you list your flight information so that they know when to expect you for your transfers. On the check in info for NCL I do not see anywhere to list your flight info. When you have a transfer from the airport to the ship do they have people there all the time and you just go find them? What is the process? Thanks so much for your help! We will be flying into Miami.

For goodness sakes please don't think your questions are dumb. I love the site but I have been reading for days and days and I'm still having trouble figuring out the initials it seems to me that everyone's initial starts with a D, I have no clue what up PO or a PPO is. I got the TA travel agent, I got the S I L and DI L son-in-law daughter-in-law. I'm not even sure if that's right. If someone wouldn't mind ,could you please post me a cheat sheet. I'm not stupid I'm just new to the texting and stuff like that, and cruise lingo, please don't trash me

    Average daily play.

    100% correct

But as already stated, these aren't that great of a deal.

If you want a cheap inside cabin, just wait until fairly close to cruise time and you will usually get one."

I think a lot of these TR offers are related to the dominant casino property you play in. For instance, no coupon sent to me with 45,000 tier points played in April and May.

Also last year I noticed some Diamond getting these for inside rooms. Again I did not. I just waited until closer to cruise date and booked outside room for same total cost using my TR and NCL casino group. I verified this cost situation with one of the casino players that was on the same cruise.

I did Jewel Dec 2013 and again April 2014.

I am so confused, if you get the free cabin and all your having to pay is the port fees and taxes which are between five and $600 for two people. Then how can a person book through TR and NCL Casino group. For the same price. Unless you receive the cabin free. Isn't the port fees and taxes added to the price of the cabin. Example you go on the website and it says inside cabin $449.oo per person double occupancy don't you then have to add that five or $600 to that.

  4. I spent two+ hours yesterday and an hour this morning reading tons of reviews for the NCL Pearl and I cannot figure out what is going on with the food situation.

This is what I see all within the last year -

"Food on Pearl is excellent compared to Carnival"

"Food on Carnival is way better then NCL, I will never go with NCL again"

"Buffet food on NCL is awful, worse than dorm room food"

"Food on NCL is terrible, including the specialty restaurants, they are always selling you the worst meat possible, Cagney was bad"

    "Food is okay, not bad"

I have never read so much conflicting information. Are peoples tastes really that much difference? How can someone say it's the worst food they've seen in a long time and another person can say it's great. And how can someone say the Carnival food is much worse than NCL while someone else says Carnival is much better than NCL.

Is there any point to reading these reviews?

If I'm used to eating pretty good food, am I going to be severely disappointed with the NCL included food? How about the ultimate dining package? My definition of pretty good food is ...Me cooking curry dishes, prime/choice steaks on the grill with homemade garlic mashed potatoes, wild salmon, marinated chicken, etc. All organic food, grass fed, yada yada. If I go out though, I'm not disappointed in places like Applebees, Olive Garden, Claim Jumpers, Bostons Pizza, BJ's restaurant.

Based on that, what do you all think my experience would be? Is the food on the NCL honestly as bad as people say? It's making me want to cancel my cruise at this point.

Thanks...I appreciate any advice. And I know, I tend to read into things a lot before I go somewhere on a trip.. Especially if I spent a lot of $. :)

Of course it's to each his own, everyone's tastes are different. My last three cruises were on the Norwegian pearl. Most of the meals were in the main dining room though we did try the Italian restaurant , le bistro and Cagney's. Every breakfast and every dinner was good to excellent. Some nights and mornings service was a little slower than others but nothing drastic. The selections and quality of the meals were great. And I know it's cooked fresh. The one and only complaint I had to make was that one morning there was a bit of eggshell in my eggs Benedict. But I was promptly brought a new meal, there are so many choices you're definitely going to find something you really like. And I just heard today that Norwegin is revamping their main dining room menus. Enjoy your cruise, and if you're a foodie like i am and want to try different things just request appetizer portions on the main dish for meal portions on the appetizer dishes, and they will gladly do this for you

  5. We haven't cruise don the Pearl but on the Jewel, the Star, and the Sun we did not have to wait in line, if you go about 15 minutes after the dining room opens, you should be fine. The lines that people complain about are mostly around 7pm or else after the first show gets out.

My 83 year old husband also uses a cane and hasn't had to wait more than a very few minutes in line because we go about 5:45pm if the dining room opens at 5:30pm.

I second the suggestion to eat in Le Bistro at least once. It is definitely worth the fee and there's no waiting since you make reservations for it.

In 2012 I took my mother on a cruise and it was on the pearl ,she needs a wheelchair for all movement except for very very short distances 10 to 15 feet. Norwegian Cruise line has a direct service that they use for all medical devices. Wheelchairs ,oxygen tanks ,Walker's ,scooters ,etc. just call Norwegian and they will put you in contact with this company. I don't remember exactly what the fee was but I seem to think it was $75(I could be wrong). But you do have to pay upfront. Then you contact the ship and they will have someone waiting to board you with a wheelchair they will take you to your cabin where your chair is waiting then at the end of the cruise, you leave the rented wheelchair in your cabin and someone will come get you with the ships chair to help you off the ship. The small fee for the chair you will find with in your first hour it was well spent. I couldn't get the motorized one so I don't know how much that costs but my mother has limited eyesight, but at every turn there was someone to assist me with pushing . She had the time of her life. It was also her first cruise. I hope you have the absolute most wonderful time of your lives. And you will love the main dining rooms. Setback relax enjoy wonderful meals and scenery and each other.

  6. Well I normally keep my mouth shut when it comes to issues like this. But , not going to this time. I do believe the dress code discriminates against men. I for one would much rather see a man in walking shorts and sandals, than some of the young ladies or even older women trying to appear younger wearing 18 inches of fabric that's cut down to the bellybutton and up to the panty line while wearing strappy little stiletto heels. Or the 200 pound woman squeezing into a size 10 blouse and size 4 slacks. Although I've only cruised three times, I have witnessed this all three times in the main dining room. Even worse, is the beautiful young women wearing strapless gowns with very ugly tattoos. At least the men's legs and feet are under the table. Not out on display

  7. I did get a call back from NCL today and was happy to hear they have hired new people to answer phones and wait times should be better very soon. Also glad that the person they had call me was pleasant and personable. I hate the fact that I used the hated hate word. I am deservedly eating crow. I hope I have a wonderful review to post for other handicapped travelers when we return.

I'm sure you're going to absolutely love the cruise, I took my mother on a cruise November 2012. She requires a wheelchair except when taking just a few steps but she does require oxygen 24/7. And those travel units are very heavy .You will be amazed at the help you will receive. There wasn't a handicap room available when I booked. She absolutely loved the cruise ,everyone absolutely everyone ,crew members, staff members , casino crew even the Casino host, house keeping ,guest services crew, dining room service personnel, even several passengers lent a hand .And They even have wheelchairs that work on sand you just have to sign up early for them. She brings it up at least a couple of times a week. All I can say is have an absolutely wonderful cruise

  8. You can request to have the beds together or apart. We have had both depending on who we were traveling with.

Thank you so much do I need to request that they be apart before the cruise or do I tell the steward once we're aboard

  9. The pictures are wonderful and your review is even better. We are booked in cabin 11182 and by the deck plans it looks like we have an angled balcony but I'm not sure is there anyone that can clarify. And by the looks of the pictures the beds are separated is this factual I would like them to be separated it's my daughter and myself. This will be our fifth cruise but first balcony we're so excited

  10. I also go to Atlantic City about twice a month. 2 hours away but always stay 2 or 3 days never a 1 day trip. Usually one of the trips is with DH over a weekend then the other is by myself middle of the week like tues wens and if I'm winning Thursday lol. I'm going on the 18th meeting a few couples. I have a great host he is actually comping me 5 rooms for them all. He's the best.

My goodness that's absolutely great I am so jealous have a wonderful time

  11. When's your next cruise? Mine isn't till November 30 but going to Vegas August 15 for 8 days. DH goes for business's twice a year so I tag along lol.

November 15 on the jewel out of Houston and then we're booked for October 31 on the getaway out of Miami in 2015. If we receive another deal we're thinking about making the 2015 a back to back. We're retired and my husband doesn't cruise so I have to book according to everyone else's schedules(my kids ) but my plan is to get one a year in. Certainly makes the rest of the year fun just in the planning part. But I do go to the casino once or twice a month. But it's an hour and a half away and I don't like driving at night. Hey break the bank in Vegas!

  13. Aww Come on you guys, the music and the dancing is what a lot of us look forward to. It changes the whole atmosphere. Helps us forget all of our worries and woes if only for a little while. It allows people without dance partners to join in something fun and festive. They don't even care if you know the steps. So hey let's all go with the flow, there's plenty of easy listening music in other areas.
