  1. I have a question about those menu as well, I am pretty sure the last time we sailed pre-covid Luminae had a "Always Available" section, it is not on the app - did they get rid of it ? I am not really into what I call fru fru food, I just want regular steak, but looking at some of the Luminae dinner menus  I would not order 1 of the mains.

Me neither.   Since we booked so close to the cruise we had to pay in full which we did and the first booking confirmation showed 0 balance.

Same here it was less than 90 days till the cruise when I booked. We are well not younger, in our 50's and do not buy the insurance. We also have 2 days to get to FLL, so we can drive if the weather cancels our flight (won't be any fun but we could still make the cruise)

That sounds like it could be an insurance amount?  I would double check your original confirmation and how much was due.   It happened to us last spring - my balance dropped just before final payment. Somehow, somewhere my insurance got dropped so I contacted X and got it fixed and paid the full amount

I did not buy insurance so I doubt that was it.

    General Comments (offer details, etc.)

Neither cabin is showing as available, I jut booked this cruise on Dec 17th and every class of suite was available except the reflection suite.  The only suites showing available now are Celebrity and SS. I am happy in a SS am just trying to surprise the wife. Both offers still show as pending.

  4. They do not want q's posted in the main thread, so I apologize for starting a new one. We are sailing on the Reflection on Mar 12th and got the move up email yesterday (seems early)

We are now in a Sky Suite 2 and every suite level above us was open for bidding. Even the Reflection Suite - min bid was like 7K per person.

Anyway my question is - does the minimum bid change once the cruise gets closer?  Right now it looks like the min. bid  for the Royal is 2K per person and for the PH 3K per person.

It is what it is.  10+ marathons, countless halfs, 2.5 hr. round trip to Pulpit Rock in my sixties---doesn't matter.  In 18 months I'll be "banned" from those over 70 excursions.  That said, if one wants, the "strenuous" excursions can still be had, one way or another.

I know this may be hard to believe but insurance is not done on a individual basis, it is the risk of the age group in total that matters.

I wish they would restrict it to people younger than 55, that way I would not have to go on some of my wife's excursions. 🙂

  6. We just booked one for Alaska next July through BCC. Upgraded to AQ for $70 each, we will buy the bev package for $900 on the X site, still a pretty good deal IMO about $1500 for 2 in AQ to Alaska. Since it is on the Eclipse we will also buy a 3 or 4 night dinner package because they have Muranos.

I hope that I am not taking the COVID-19 situation lightly, but could we be out of the woods by June 1st? We are/were sailing on the Jewel June 8th out of Vancouver. And I know it sounds selfish, but NCL could switch to Seattle and run buses for those who could not change flights from Vancouver to Seattle. It seems the port is empty on those days, and the company could mitigate their losses. I guess it all depends on how well the public practices social distancing. I feel terrible for those who are sick or worse, and I am wary about all of the sanitation measure put in place by the lines, but we planned this 18 months ago and there are 19 of us going. We more than likely will not be able to all get our schedules together again. Best wishes to all as we work our way through this.

Ya because like nothing is happening in Seattle right now with regard to COVID-19

Thank you. Wow $30pp for lunch seems high but we will ask before we sit down. Do you remember what time they open for lunch one embarkation day?

My wife and I loved the Porch when it was I think $5 on embarkation day for lunch, but to me the only thing on the menu now  is the Tower and at $30 PP it is simply not worth it, who wants to stuff that much food down their throat at 1 PM on embarkation day? It might of changed since our last cruise though

  9. To me it would depend on my age/health and where the heck I was going, even then I would not cancel until the last minute unless there was some financial benefit.  Does it really matter if you cancel 3 weeks before the cruise if nothing is refundable? Nope, just wait and hope for a change by either the cruise line or the airline. I know if you are flying say AA and the flight gets delayed by more than 2 hours you can cancel then for a full refund.
