@Seasick SailorWhat's your guess for your next lovely docking site? 😄I appreciate your photos and reports. Thanks!

Almost time to start packing. We leave for Athens 1 month from today. After a few days seeing the city, we board the Nieuw Statendam to Rome, then fly to Atlanta for a week's visit with DS & his DW.
The 1st Christmas after we were married, DH gave me an aquarium. The glass front was made from a car windshield! It was a fun tank but a pain to clean. I think we had several light bars for it. Fingers crossed that everyone has a wonderful weekend and a great week (how did September disappear so quickly?).

Surge protectors are not allowed. We also bring an adaptor for the European outlet. Sometimes you can find an outlet behind the head of the bed-often the nightstand light is plugged in there (on the older ships). It will be a European-style outlet.

Are you referring to the 3M Command strips?

Just spoke with DDIL in Newnan, GA. She had to do all the storm prep since DS was in New Jersey for the U of Washington football game. She said plenty of rain but wind wasn’t nearly as bad as predicted, thank goodness. Biggest job was getting the canopy off the boat in the rain and not to dry it out. I hope everyone else had minimal damage.

This thread is giving me a better appreciation for inside cabins. I may have to give it another try. I didn't understand about "J" and "K" categories. I'm grateful to y'all.
If you go to the HollandAmerica.com website and then choose the tab for Ship Life, then on the left, choose Our Ships, you will get a page with each ship. Choose the ship you want, scroll to the bottom to the Deck Plans and each deck will then show the cabins and their designations. You can zoom in to see each section.

We just booked 1116 on the Nieuw Amsterdam for Alaska 2026. It's our 1st inside in a long time. Good to hear it really is as large as it looks. I did try to book one of the J cabins but was told they were quad cabins and couldn't book for just the 2 of us. I like being more aft anyway.

@Vict0riannIt took a second to realize what you were saying-the car going in for service and the valve was ordered. Oops-2 different topics 😯.

I've been especially interested in the posts and photos of the port today. We'll be going there (fingers crossed) on the '26 World and haven't made plans yet for that day. I can't see spending upwards of $1,000 for a HAL tour. I checked out Adventure Falklands but their website gives no tour details or prices....have to contact them. I may be in the minority, but I don't like that (giving my email address before I've committed). I liked the idea of walking to the Visitors' Center and picking up a tour there. I think it was Lenda @Quartzsite Cruiser who did that?
Because DH and I both deal with bad back issues, we chose the Bertha's Beach and Gypsy Cove tour. It was about a 4-hour tour and we saw a lot of the island plus the penguins.

Total darkness at night is a benefit of an inside cabin. I do like that aspect, but I've found I have to put a cover over chargers and anything else that has a small light. It seems very bright in the total darkness.

I actually prefer baking in grams rather than ounces but usually when I’m baking bread. I don’t make many cakes. Yours sounds delicious! I’m glad it turned out well. Did you have to add fresh apples?
Yes, fresh apples that I had picked that morning. I thought about a couple of changes I'd make if I made it again but then realized that I probably wouldn't be in Norway again to get another mix.

I think we were on a Princess ship where Hyperion Knight was performing. He's amazing!

@ger_77Amazing bird house. Especially love the cat in the window!
Last year I bought an apple cake mix in Norway. The photo on the front looked yummy. This week I finally got around to making it. I typed the Norwegian instructions into Google Translate and the cake turned out perfectly. After the translation, I then had to convert grams to ounces and milliliters to cups plus C to F but it all worked. Thank you Google!
Have an amazing and safe week.

My CPAP just completed five years, wish I knew it would use tap versus distilled for the last year. At five years you are eligible for a new machine with Medicare. The problem now is there is still a supply problem and machines are difficult to come by according to my provider. So while I am waiting I might just use tap water.
After you use tap water for a week, check your tank to see if you have any build-up on the metal plate. I found that our water, while good, does cause a film in the tank that needs to be scrubbed out every week.

Thanks everyone! I finally got Holland to respond and they gave me the list. Yes, I am on the Jan 4 sailing. Thank you!
Check out the roll call. Lots of information and friendly people 😊.

A news item came out this week that 20 countries are being added to the list that don't need visas to visit Indonesia. The United States is on that list so fingers crossed it becomes a reality. @jrljel, are you on the Jan. 4 cruise from Singapore? There's been much discussion on the roll call.

Quiffy did well with the surgery, but she is not able to eat or drink with that stupid cone around her head. And they want her to wear it for the full two weeks. She will starve. Any suggestions?
Amazon has a cat onesie/bodysuit for after surgery. Other, softer cones are available.

Happy Anniversary Sandi and Dennis @StLouisCruisers!! You got married exactly 3 weeks before we did! Similar ages too, we were 18 and 21. Beautiful photo!
It must have been a good year for weddings! Our 55th is just 3 1/2 months away (2 days after Christmas, what were we thinking?)-and a similar wedding dress too. I had just turned 20 and DH was 22.

We have an American Airlines return flight from Singapore in February using Flight Ease. Today I called FE and they confirmed that the flight is still a go. I also logged onto the AA site and was able to see my flight-but I'll keep checking!

Well there's a half hour I'm never going to get back. The state freeway toll road website NEVER works. Dear Dad couldn't get it to work when we used to have it in his name, now I get the same spinning circle of death. I'll have to just send them a check.
UGH....sorry for the rant, I just don't have luck with government websites.
And then I was jinxed. I went to check my newest notifications on CC and got the never-ending circle-then a notice that the community was not available. Sheesh!

forgot to add something
We were on the Discovery Princess in April off Mazatlan for the eclipse. Scott, from our roll call shared these photos. It was a magical experience.
2 separate photos-should have added a space between the 2.
