  1. Yes - it is a hike. I think I am the rare minority that likes the distance - I actually really like to walk - but it's always good to point out that it IS a long walk as most people either don't care for it or want to be aware in case it is an issue. It seems especially long if you just forgot one thing in the room. You don't realize how big that ship is until you have to go from one end to the other constantly. 🤣
  2. I would also like to add about the tub / shower combo on sky suites on Apex - for someone that uses a wheelchair - it could be a challenge. It is an actual tub, so be aware of that. It would require stepping up and into the tub. You may want to consider selecting a handicap accessible room if that is available to make it easier. Your butler will bring blankets to use while sitting on the balcony. I've had an aft sky suite on the Apex, and it is a really nice large balcony. Aft is indeed very far from everything if mobility is an issue. I am actually about to go on the Apex in a sky suite on a B2B in the Fjords this July - a 12 night followed by a 7 night. If you would like any specific photos or have something specific I can find out for you, please let me know.
  3. This looks so exciting. We will be doing this next April on the Summit, but it sails out of FLL. Your posts are making me look Forward to it even more! Thanks for sharing!!
  4. If they have a good price I book. I've had awful experience and no problems with them. One thing I like... I can book really early business class and often get a good deal. I can put this on hold and not pay until final payment. I can watch airline until final payment and buy direct from the airlines if I choose and cancel the flight by celebrity one. If I don't get a better deal by final payment, I still have the flight.
  5. Usually the blank spaces are some sort of crew / storage areas / mechanical areas. A great tool is cruise deck plans website, with the deck drag tool. You can use that and see that the cabins you are looking at are actually really below the ocean view cafe not the blank space, but that blank space may be over your balcony??? It is probably some area that is mechanical or something for the cafe. Celebrity Edge Deck-Drag (cruisedeckplans.com)
  6. You are incorrectly assuming that those of us who HAVE had problems do not know what we are doing. Just because you have not had an issue does not mean that those of us who have had issues do not know what we are doing.
  7. Go for it! You will look fantastic, and will likely have many people tell you so! (and who would not want that)
  8. Qatar does as well. I just booked business class on Qatar through FbC because I was able to get the flights for 4K less per person than I was booking direct with Qatar. When I priced on Qatar site, outbound I could pick seats for free, but return would require paying to pick seats. Same via FbC. Weird and frustrating. BA does waive the fee if you have Gold status in their frequent flyer program.
  9. If it's on American and you paid for premium economy yourself, ask you need to do is go on the American site, there s form for cancelled/changed flights where you can submit to get the refund for upgraded premium seats. You have to submit this yourself. You just need the confirmation number. I did this for flights made by flights by celebrity that changed and we got the refund within 48 hours.
  10. We did outer loop. I thought the water was great. We did not have rain. It was not too hot, but the sun was it, so sunscreen is a must. I need a sweater in the ship dining room at night ( I'm often cold), but it was nice outside at night. It was humid, but not too bad.
  11. Each interior magic carpet sky suite joins via a vestibule to an inside cabin and the two outside magic carpet sky suites each join to a concierge class room. (ie - the magic carpet sky suites do not actually join to each other via the vestibules in case it is not clear in the deck plans) Your kids sound mature, so you should be fine as long as they are comfortable not actually adjoining to you. Hope that helps explain how they join. Sorry if you already understood this - could not tell if you were thinking the sky suites joined via vestibule.
  12. Interesting.... I guess everyone from here needs to start contacting this guy instead of contacting Celebrity directly when they do something like start charging for room service or wipe out entire sailing seasons (like take out South America and replace it with more Caribbean) and so on.... Sounds like he may be able to actually do something.
  13. I had to re-read the article to figure out "who" is saying "my advocacy team almost never hears from Celebrity customers". OK - so what Celebrity customer would actually contact Christoper Elliott if they had an issue 🤣. It says he has a customer advocacy group. His group is not who anyone contacts. And where / when do you get a welcome onboard drink and a gift basket? And what is a virtual reality excursion? This guy is living in la virtual reality.
  14. Thanks both. We have 6131 booked for 14 days and 16 days on 2 upcoming cruises and just wanted to be sure I wasn't going to be woken up daily by the dinging.
  15. The thing to know about the menu / show (if not already aware) is that the food is paired specifically with the show (like the show may feature a character fishing in the sea or something like that, then you are served some fish - I meanin a fun Pixar type thing - not graphic realistic way if that makes sense). So to handle special dinner requests - yes, they can do it, but the food won't match the theme of the show if that makes sense. So she could still follow along the theme/food by watching what the rest of you are served, but would she find it as much fun if her food did not match the theme? If she would still have fun - then go for it.
  16. Anybody stayed in the rooms around this area on Summit/Millie/Infinity - 6131, 6129, 6132 or 6130? Are the elevators making dinging noises when they arrive, and you can hear it in the rooms? I know that people getting on/off elevators may be talking - but if the elevators are making a loud ding noise every time they show up and you can hear it in the room- that would be old pretty fast. Thanks!
  17. You can see this on the celebrity website. Look at the individual ships, then find the deck plans. See the diamond symbol - it is marking the cabins with obstructed views. If you want confirmation of obstructed view - just type the room number into "find my room" and it will say if the view is obstructed. It WON'T tell you the percent obstruction or what is obstructing it (pole, lifeboat, window washing equipment, etc). You can call Celebrity and ask or have your TA get that information. The cabin compilation was relying on individuals who stayed in the rooms to report back. For example, here I put in room 6229.
  18. I don't have kids, but I think this would depend on the kids. If you know what your kids would be more drawn to, that's the vibe you would choose. If your kids like the atmosphere of water slides, amusement rides, running around, then Celebrity is a poor choice. I've seen young kids on Celebrity reading and playing cards. So probably RCCL would be a poor choice for them. All depends on thinking about what the kids would enjoy too.
  19. For retreat, you can board when you want. Depending on the port, there may be a nice lounge area with some coffee, juices and pastries. Disembark - you can gather in the retreat lounge and be escorted of the ship, past the security lines. Again, at a convenient time for you. They will still collect your flight details like usual.
  20. I feel like your TA should be going a better job or getting these answers from you. If the TA cannot get the answers from Celebrity, then the TA should seek an alternate private option that can give you the transfer services that you need. If you've informed the TA that you need Y, X and Z for my father to comfortably get from the hotel/airport to the port for the ship - the TA should be able verify that the transport company can deliver the requests. If tendering is involved - make sure that you dad will be able to disembark safely. Depending on the tender - it may involve stepping high or low to get into the tender. Sometimes they won't allow a wheelchair to be taken on. Hopefully you have no tender ports. Disembark in most ports - In any port that has a steep ramp for disembarking - staff will help guide the wheelchair safely down the ramp. I've been behind people in wheelchairs several times - it's really not an inconvenience, so don't worry over inconveniencing people. It really does not take them too long - they may turn the wheelchair around backwards and walk it down at a safe speed, then they will help push it back up the ramp later. The staff would also assist with disembark even if the ramp is not steep - they are there to make him comfortable and safe. They often will allow people in wheelchairs to go to the front of the security line so they don't need to wait in line or walk too far to get through the security scanners.
  21. I seem to recall reading somewhere that for cruises out of Mumbai on Celebrity - the embarkation process happened at a hotel, not at the port? Can anyone who has sailed out of Mumbai on Celebrity confirm this? Did you meet at a hotel, then do the embarkation process, then they shuttle you to the port? Or do you get to the port after that on your own? Or am I just imagining this? What is the hotel? Is it one that you would actually want to stay in if you were in Mumbai a day or so prior to the cruise? Thanks!
  22. I agree the price is too low without charging kids. I asked about this when I was on Apex for a TA cruising in a sky suite sunset veranda and had the adjoining sunset veranda booked and it was available to purchase 1.5 years ago. So maybe they make exceptions if it didn't sell out?
  23. Not sure why people are so upset about this now. It is not new, it has been around for quite a while, and also available to all suites. It is very limited per sailing as well, so the chance that multiple suite guests would be able to purchase passes for people is not very likely. A good use if traveling with family that is not in a suite - some of the larger suites have adjoining rooms that are non-suites. If you book the larger suite, then you can book the adjoining room (example on Millennium, book a Royal + adjoining concierge). If you put some family members in the concierge, then you could buy the pass for the retreat.
  24. The actual Flora zodiacs are fantastic. they have stairs with a railing built in which raise and lower. Makes it super easy to adjust to the height of the ship marina and on islands where the is some form of a landing"dock". The naturalist also helps you. The thing that can impact this is waves. If it is very rocky, the ship and the tender are bobbing up and down. The naturalists will either hold you back from boarding or advise "go now" if this is the case. Of all of our days ( and you get on/ off multiple times per day), we only had once where it was really a big issue.
