  1. I must have the I can’t afford anything look because after 20+ cruises, I’ve had the upsell only twice. Both times in the windjammer for night 1 at Chops. Both times I said no thanks before they could get started and that was that.

The waiter in the mdr usually mentions the up charge items while going over the menu on night 1, but it’s not really a hard sell, just letting us know it’s available.

  2. We were there in early April on Mariner and the place seemed empty other than the first beach areas. We were in the large pool/lagoon along with maybe 20 people total. Obviously the water park wasn’t even open yet, but the place felt huge and empty.

I think it could easily handle 2 ships once everything is open and probably a third. People just need to walk past the first beach areas. Lunch time might get a little stressful if they don’t add more tables, seating

  3. My wife and I were on Allure last year and while she was getting the kids enrolled in adventure club, I purchased the drink package for just myself. Nobody said a word to me. My wife also bought it 20 minutes later and the person asked her if everyone over 21 had the package. She said yes, but she said it didn’t look like they checked.

Soooooo, good luck. I’m guessing 1 out of 25 might let you do it, but then there’s no telling if they catch it later.

  4. I would think September is the safest month to go, but........my family is going On Symphony in Sep and there are 9 total kids coming with. Kids sail free is too good to pass up when the kids are younger than 5. I’m not so sure about pulling them out of school for a week after 5, but that’s just me.

Good luck, I definitely understand how annoying it can be in the dining room and around the pool decks and the elevators and the windjammer and pretty much everywhere else onboard. I often find myself talking in my head about how there are too many kids while I have my two by my side. Lol.

  5. I just canceled a comped cruise for Nov and got taxes and port fees refunded to my card in 2 days. The agent also tried everything he could to figure out a way to get me on a different cruise.  It was a jr suite Comp and he could tell I was not happy about canceling, but the offer had expired.

    Stupid wedding.

Just some info for those that don’t know, you can combine kids sale free with the prime free cruise for 2. Just booked that yesterday.

  6. My oldest daughter was 2 weeks away from her 3rd bday and while they sympathized with us, they said the 3-5’s was too busy. This was on Oasis two years ago. We have a similar situation coming up this fall on symphony. Next daughter will be a month shy of 3, hoping because she will have an older sister, they will allow the move up.

  7. They do a hold up to twice a day for all charges. Then they charge your card for the entire amount on the day you leave the ship. I had $1700 in pending charges on my last cruise and then they ran the card for an additional 1700 that posted the next day. One by one, the pending charges have been going away, but it was annoying for a few days as an extra 1700 was being held.

  8. Just got back from the Mariner 3 night cruise. We docked at the pier on Saturday and the stuff that is finished really looks great.

The pool/lagoon is incredible. With one ship there, the place seemed empty and that’s with half the island still under construction. I think it could easily handle to large ships.

A few of the crew told us that there may soon be 3 night cruises to Coco Cay only, no more Nassau. 2 days at Coco Cay.

  9. Does anyone know if Royal shows any of the NCAA Tournament games at Playmakers or anywhere else?  I don’t think the cabins get CBS, but they used to get a form of TBS or TruTv which both have games opening weekend. I’m not sure if they still have those channels or not.

Hopeful they have something on in Playmakers or the casino.

  10. I was on the Allure last Sep and we visited the windjammer each night to feed the kids before sending them to adventure club. I was shocked at how good some of the nights were for buffet offerings. They had a seafood night which included crab legs and a few different trays of basic sushi rolls. I didn’t really check it out too much because we were eating at Chops later.

I did not not see any lobster, but I did not go to every station. It def had a seafood smell that night.

Also, why would people take pictures of lobster in the buffet. That would never occur to me ever.

  11. Sep through mid dec usually have a lot of ksf oasis class cruises. Then again in Jan and feb.

You just have to wait for the sale to start again, but those cruises always tend to have them.

We have saved a ton of money ever since Royal started the ksf promo. It’s the only one that actually gets us to a price we’re comfortable with. Only one more year though until kids start real school so it looks like summer cruises at full price will start soon.

  12.

You missed on the walk or run away part. :)

Yes, yes I did. I only played that machine because I hit $1000 on a $5 top dollar machine a few minutes earlier. Was gonna play 5 spins and hope for the best. I still walked away after the win, but that would’ve been a big help at that time in my life. Oh well...,

  13. It’s on Independence and Vision. I’m pretty sure I played it on Harmony also. Top Dollar is addicting if you hit the bonus early. I played a $100 machine in Vegas once (200 for max bet) and got the bonus on the second spin. I had $7500 on the 3rd option and hit the try again button. Ended up with $1900. Had about 50 people watching in disbelief when I didn’t take the $7500. Something that always haunts me.

  14.

A few of our friends left them at the table in the wj and went back 20 mins later to see if they were still there. The waiter told them to go to gs.

If you have young kids, it’s very easy to forget the cup as it’s not a priority when the baby starts screaming. It’s something new to carry around that you aren’t used to and it is big so it doesn’t just fit into a purse.

  15. We did our first grand suite on Allure and I don’t think we can ever go back to a standard balcony cabin. We have 2 young kids and when we walked past a thousand people in line waiting to get luggage and get through customs, my wife and I basically looked at each other and said there’s no going back. We skipped the entire line and were off the ship and in our car service in 5 minutes.

Standing in line with 2 young kids for an hour (and not getting to go on a ride) is not fun for anyone. It’s suite, no kids or nothing for us now.

  16. We have an 18 month old and we’re able to book 7-11 pm every night for the nursery. Only the first 3 nights at first and then on the third day they opened up all hours that were left.

We took her to windjammer to eat at 5, then bathed her and took her to the nursery. Awesome staff there.

Try and keep her to her napping schedule. It’s tough, but it makes the rest of the cruise so much better. Even if it’s just a 45 minute nap in the stroller.

One last thing, we found that the days we had no schedule of places to be were much happier than the days where every hour was planned.

    Good luck...you’ll remember it forever.

  17. On the EN a couple of weeks ago our welcome letter stated no sharing of the 3 drinks loaded on your card

Sent from my BG2-W09 using Forums mobile app

I heard that from a friend, but never saw anything. That’s why I asked someone who ‘should’ know. I specifically told her what I wanted to do and she said go ahead. No questions asked in the dining room. Waiter even delivers the drinks to my mother in law.
