We do not tip the nursery staff or the AO staff. I think I might run out of cash with all the extra tipping onboard a cruise ship that is talked about.
-
We used the nursery on harmony back in Feb and it was full everyday, all open hours. We were allowed to book 16 hours at registration and then couldn’t get anything else.
Last year, on Allure it was empty and we could use whenever needed. It’s random and very hard to schedule things without knowing which days/nights will be available.

Anyone have any ideas of bottles can be glass - ie: starbucks bottled frappuccinos?
Bottles of wine are allowed and they are glass. I would assume bottles of frappuccinos would be ok.
I think this will be hilarious watching people carry on a case of water and hold it for 2 hours until cabins are ready.
Also, to the person asking if they keep count if you enter at a different time than your cabin mate, we’ve traveled with people who bring 4 bottles of a wine they like and never have an issue by going through different security lines or waiting a few minutes apart.

I’m on Allure next week and will be checking a 12 pack of coke and Diet Coke in a duffle bag. Have done this on every Royal cruise I’ve been on and never heard one thing about it. My guess is my bag gets delivered with no issues.
I have the deluxe package, but I like to have the sodas in my cabin.

The first time we cruised with our daughter, she was 10 months at the time, the US customs agent gave us a very hard time after the cruise. My wife and I have passports, but we only had a bc for our daughter. The agent said how do I know this is your daughter? He asked us several questions about her, then said how am I suppose to verify this with her if she can’t communicate to me.
He said there is no way I can tell if this is your child or not. After remaining calm, I finally told him that we provided all the required documentation, is there anything further you need from us. He gave me a nasty look and told us to move on.
We now have passports for both our daughters.

$2510 for 4 people on Allure GS this Sep. it did include the ksf promo so 2 kids were free, plus diamond discount and free grats. Also comes with $100 obc. I was allowed to use a $750 free cruise credit towards it, which meant I only spent around $1800 out of pocket.

I’m just trying to figure this out since I’ll be in a GS for the first time next month. You tip $40 to each concierge for making a comedy club reservation and a couple of dinner ressies? I get that’s how they make a living, but that just seems like a lot of $ for what takes 5 mins at the most. Am I missing something? If that’s the standard, do I even need to interact with the concierge? I already have my comedy club ressie. I don’t tip the person I call to make a dinner reservation so I don’t get it.
If I want to go to CK for dinner, I have to make a reservation. It’s not available to book online for Allure, so I have to tip money to get me a reservation for CK??? This just doesn’t make sense to me. I could do this is 2 minutes if it was online.

I’m pretty sure TA’s are able to buy cabins in bulk with no names. They then try and sell them and return any unsold cabins sometime before final payment. So I would assume a TA could do it, but I don’t know how the reservations would work in the meantime. I think the TA would have to hold your deposit.

I’m in a GS on deck 10 on Allure. For departure, do I have to get an elevator to CK in order to meet the concierge? Getting an elevator up or down is difficult on departure day as people just ride the elevator all the way up and then down. Hoping they meet you at a certain elevator???

I’ve been on 10 Royal cruises in the last 5 years and have been approached 1 time in the wj for specialty dining. Said we already had it and they moved on. Everything else is set up in the promenade, but nobody ever approaches me or my family. Maybe we look scary?

Drink package prices vary per sailing because of several factors, one of the most important is how long the cruise is. Another is how many port days vs sea days or if they are in their own private ports.
A 3 night booze cruise that goes to CocoCay is not going to show $45per day pricing very often. I have 3 of those booked right now and they are all at $60 per night.
The longer the cruise is, the better price you will get. People drink less as the cruise goes on, Royal knows that. Notice how you never see the drink cards at the beginning of a sailing?

do people bring their young kids there? We have a 2 and 4 year old, first time in a Grand Suite. Or should we stay in the louder mdr.
-
Agreed. Never seen a credit because of a credit from the MDR.
Not a credit, but more of a reduced price. I would consider Chops on par with Ruth Chris (maybe a little less nowadays) and it costs around $45ish for food. A decent steakhouse would cost about $30 more food only. I think that is the case with most of the specialty restaurants with the exception of Izumi.
The very limited number of seats explains it though.

Last year I watched an entire Gator football game on my phone with zero interruptions. The only time I turned it off was at halftime. I was expecting a lot of problems, but was pleasantly surprised.

A little off topic, but can somebody tell me if the hibachi is any different than the land based ones? It seems to be very popular on the ships, but I don’t really get it since it’s more expensive. Usually you get some sort of discount since you already have a meal that is paid for through the MDR. I love hibachi and we go often at home, just wondering if there is anything special on the cruise?

My wife and I went on the Allure in 2013 for our honeymoon and our luggage hadn’t been delivered at 9:00 pm. We were freaking out to say the least. Guest services said they would find it. They also said they were very proud of the fact that Allure, to that point, had zero missing bags ever.
Bags were in front of our door at 9:20. They were picked up by accident by a couple who brought them in their cabin and then left for dinner without ever opening it.
-
Great. I will do that with my TA. Did you have any speciality restaurant credits? I’m wondering if it might be easier to do the dinner in the MDR. Did you have any other meals together?

We had obc and a specialty restaurant credit from our TA. We used that at Chops on another night. The other 5 nights, we ate in the MDR and had 2 ten tops and a four top all in the same area. We moved around a little, but basically just stayed at the same tables all cruise so the waiters got used to us.
-
Have you looked at any of the suites? KSF applies to those also and occasionally you can find something at a really good price. We got a GS for $3200 all in for 4 (2kids).
-
We did 24 people at wonderland on harmony. There are some restrictions though. They will provide you certain times to choose from, either very early or very late. They also said it would be 2 tables, but when we arrived, they were able to accommodate everyone at one table.
We had to pay the entire fee at time if booking. There were several rules about cancellations, no refunds within days of sailing. It’s also better to get this all done before dining ressies open up to public. Each ship has a special events person that you need to email, your TA should be able to get that info. Good luck.

I just started playing this year and both cruises I went on, they weren’t allowed to be combined with the casino discounts. Seems like most people that would play this game would already be getting a casino rate.
Do they ever have free cruises, or is it always obc? I have 600,000 points that I’ve been trying to save for a good cruise promo.

There is a bar behind B Ocean called the world famous Parrot. Not sure of your situation, but I love that place—usually for the night before a cruise though.
As for what to do at 9??? Uber and check the bags. Go find a lounger on the beach until the Parrot opens.

Here is my speculation: After her Southampton season, Anthem heads to Fort Lauderdale or Miami. This was the original plan for her before Quantum was sent to China. Quantum 5 replaces her in Cape Liberty when she debuts in fall 2020.
I agree. I think Anthem moves to Ft Lauderdale taking the place of one of the two oasis class ships and Miami takes on the sat/sun oasis rotation

We live in central Brevard County and the trip to the Port of Miami is easy peasy. 95 straight to the tunnel' date=' easier than FLL.

FLL is pretty simple now that the construction is finished. 95 to 595 E and that takes you right to port security gate.

I live in Ft Lauderdale and totally get what people are saying about not wanting to drive South of PE. It is a different type of driver once you leave Broward, much more aggressive. We live 25 mins from PE or an hour to Miami, but absolutely dread going to Miami.

I’m currently on Allure and asked the diamond concierge and she said there is currently no policy in place to prevent sharing of drinks outside of the lounge.
I have the drink package so I give away my 3 nightly drinks to the less fortunate.
