The most important thing for them is their bottom line and surviving. They may restore some of the cut services but then they will definitely raise the prices. Remember EVERYTHING is costing more nowadays. They can’t survive charging the same prices unless they cut service (employees, food quality and quantity, etc). My bet is they charge more AND cut services. We are in a recession. The writing is on the wall.

Yes. Eventually they have to pass the costs on to their guests. Sadly, that’s the reality.

The cruise lines have lost a ton of money over the last few years, plus add in the inflation. They either have to raise prices or cut services, or both. I believe it will be both. The good old days are gone.

All the officers and entertainers have their own staff and officers’ mess. Eating in the public areas is an extra privilege.

I was going to bring up the sleeper sofa and bunk issue too. You literally can’t walk to your balcony without having to climb over the sleeper sofa when it’s folded out. That’s a safety hazard. I also remember when Celebrity (and other cruise lines) used to have nightly Midnight buffets. Little by little it becomes less special to cruise. Very sad.

Does anyone know if Captain Club benefits transfer between Royal and Celebrity? We just made it to Platinum on Royal and will be sailing Celebrity this summer. I don’t know if there are any benefits at this level anyway but just wondering if there is anything that will be useful for our upcoming cruise.

Wow. I hope I don’t run into him on any of my cruises (lol). I think he might lose it around me.

I do believe that’s where we’ll be going. It makes sense as I doubt we’ll even dock in those southern ports. Thankfully I also packed some warm clothes.

I wonder when they’ll tell us. We’re on the way to the port right now.

Add Anthem to the list

We are set to leave tomorrow for Florida and the Bahamas on Anthem. I wish they would just re route us to Canada at this point. The weather and seas are going to be terrible. Just saw it’s probably going to be a tropical storm in the next few days. Where else might they re route in a situation like this? Do they always go north or is there a possibility we could go somewhere else in the Caribbean?

We just got upgraded with Royal Up! Went from ocean view to unobstructed balcony for $200 more. Whoo hoo!

Anyone out there ever have it happen and want to share? So now it says “expired” for 2 of my Royal up choices. It says “pending” for one of them. Maybe there’s hope? Looks like they’re moving on decisions.

I just received that kind of notice. “We’re still considering your bid and it may happen up until sailing…”. Does anyone ever really get the upgrade that late or is just RCL covering “just in case” they have an unexpected open cabin come up? Our cruise leaves Sunday and I’m wondering if we should really not unpack in our original cabin until we sail just in case they do upgrade us. We bid on 3 balcony categories that are still showing “submitted”.

It looks like we are assigned according to the “trick”. Deck 3 by the casino. Looks like a connecting cabin too. Fun fun fun. Oh well, this is the risk you take with a GTY. At least it’s basically midship and low. Not a bad deal in November during hurricane season in the Atlantic. We shall bring a very loud sound machine🤪. I lived below the water line in a tiny inside cabin when I worked on ships; actually loved the sound of the waves hitting the walls as I fell asleep in complete darkness.
