  1. Let us know how it goes for blu access. I suspect if you are friendly with the Maître d' and butler, and kindly ask, it shouldn't be a problem, even with Aqua sold out. I'll be on Edge in 2 weeks, with Aqua also sold out ... And also would like to use blu, so hoping you have good luck there 🙂
  2. Most likely you will have the upgrade clear in the next 24 hours. When my MoveUp became frozen as yours did, I looked at the sky suites that were available. There were two remaining - one on deck 9 (S2) and one on deck 10 (S1). I got upgraded to the one that was on Deck 9, and both rooms were no longer available. Just as a heads up - SS does not include Thermal Suite access, so if that was important to you, you will want to inquire about a thermal suite pass on your first day of the cruise (or before the cruise) ... Those tend to sell out.
  3. Ship: Edge Length of Cruise: 11 nights Cruise Sail Date: 11/21/22 Date email offer received: Never received, went onto moveup website Captain’s Club Tier: Select Booked through Celebrity Direct OR via TA: TA (Amex Platinum travel website) Current Cabin: Porthole Verandah Bid? Yes/No: Yes If YES - Bidding Details: Cabin Category: Sky Suite Class Bid Offer: $1885 pp Notification Date: 11/8/22 Accepted / Rejected: Accepted (S2 Sky Suite) General Comments Originally bid on 10/3/2022. Checked availability daily and most suites were sold out except for Iconic and a couple of Sky Suites. Aqua was sold out almost the entire time. I bid 1885pp for Sky, and 500pp for Aqua. Sky suites seemed to sell and then others got cancelled so some availability was available most (but not all) days. On 11/7 around 10PM I noticed MoveUp showed Sky pending all my Aqua expired, and no changes allowed. 11/8 around 10AM the email was received informing me of the upgrade clearing. There are now no Sky Suites available, but one Aqua is available (I guess the other Sky Suite got awarded to an Aqua that got moved up. My previously assigned Porthole room is already available for sale. Minimum bid for Sky Suite was $1000 and maximum was $2500.
  4. I don't know if this is a regular thing today or not, but I know that in the past I had a large group of friends all book a Celebrity cruise as a group. I was the only one who had been on Celebrity before. Everyone other than me got a complimentary upgrade from Veranda to Aqua. I got no upgrade. I think Celebrity has believes that treating you like a VIP on your first cruise and showing the best they can offer ... will incentivize you to pay for that service in the future.
  5. In your house of course it's fine to use a USB duplex outlet ... But in a hotel, airport, cruise ship, shopping mall, etc etc ... Who knows what someone has done when you weren't looking.
  6. My conversation was with a sommelier at a restaurant. The amount was something like $1 per drink. I don’t recall exactly.
  7. 3 for the Alaska webinar last month. 5 for the webinar from the month before.
  8. Interesting, it seems that this goes from twice daily full cleaning to ... once daily full cleaning + evening turndown. I doubt you'd even really notice the difference in service. But with that said, for only 3 points, I'm sure in the next month or two there will be another (couple of) PowerUp survey or webinar that will earn 3 or more points...
  9. How do you know there is no computer? https://www.tomshardware.com/news/picoberry-raspberry-pi-4-compute-module-4-carrier-board That is a computer that measures 0.8 inches by 2.75 inches. It runs a variant of linux. More than capable of running software to talk to your phone.
  10. Consider that this is a large amount of time taking away from their working day, and they may be using that money as their sole source of income. Keep in mind a taxi does charge by the mile or by the minute in stopped traffic ... I think a $20 tip is easily warranted for that. Maybe even $50.
  11. I've been under the buffet before on a solstice class ship and it wasn't really a problem. During the morning I could hear a little bit of noise as they were cleaning up etc, but it wasn't super disturbing, and nothing overnight.
  12. Personally, I just always carry a Anker USB-C Nano 30 Watt charger and cable in my backpack. Get reliable fast charges without any security concern. I don't even carry a USB-A cable anymore, so I couldn't plug into a (possibly insecure, slow, defective) public USB-A charger anyway.
  13. Perhaps adding to your humor, I refer to these packages as “premium alcoholic” and “classic alcoholic”. Normally i just get the premium non-alcoholic package unless it’s very deep discounts since I don’t drink much… but my wife is definitely an alcoholic 😉
  14. Adding to what everyone else has said so far (that I agree with)… I’ve been on a dozen or so celebrity cruises, a few carnival, one Norwegian, and two on RCCL. The most recent cruise I’ve been on another line was on the Oasis about 10 or so years ago. I was totally unimpressed with the ship. The food and service quality even in the speciality restaurants in oasis wasn’t as good as celebrity aqua. Lines everywhere. Felt like I was at a theme park. Celebrity is way more relaxed and luxurious. Im sure someone else would say celebrity is boring because no water slides and no surfing simulator. Pick the experience you want. IMHO the elite benefits don’t make too much of a difference on either line. I’m at select and will have elite soon… my next cruise will be on celebrity in 2 weeks… but the following will be on princess (my first on that line) because I prefer that itinerary. for the upcoming one in 2 weeks on the edge, I’m mostly on it for the ship and I may not even get off at any of the ports. Just want to relax with good service somewhere pretty and warm.
  15. Nope… they told me what they made per drink served to someone with or without a package. It was less with a package, but they can serve much more to people with packages just by asking if people want another.
  16. On my last cruise a few months ago, i asked how it worked for the crew with beverage packages, and they told me that they get paid for every drink served. The more you order, the more they make.
  17. Amazing schedule for the Edge considering my itinerary. It completes on 12/2/2022 ... I'm on a cruise from 11/21/2022 -> 12/2/2022. I wonder what the odds are of the cutover happening during my cruise ... I hope either way that it doesn't translate to a large outage mid-cruise.
  18. Just as a FYI ... I did this hike about 10 years ago, and it was incredibly strenuous. I'm honestly surprised the cruise lines even offered something this strenuous. No other excursion I've ever done has compared to this level of difficulty.
  19. It was the cruise only fare with tips included added on from my TA. This was a package that added Premium internet + premium drinks, and cost $0. I was very confused why they offered that.
  20. I'm not sure why, but when I called the Captain's Club to add Premium beverage package to my cruise, they just comped it for $0. I'm only at the 'Select' level, so this isn't an official benefit. Not complaining.
  21. Of course everyone has the right to their own opinion and I’m just sharing mine, but I see things almost totally opposite. I’m only a lowly Select (soon the be “Elite”). The benefits of captains club never seemed particularly interesting to me, but since I do cruise at least once every few years, and i prefer celebrity’s product… “why not”. I see people complain about celebrity having fewer of these sorts of meet up type events, eg: cruise critic roll call… captains club elite … zenith… etc. in the past I went to the roll call party once and also I was invited to the captains club “elite” party once when I was sailing in a royal suite years ago. Honestly, it felt very forced. I don’t see the point on any of it. If you want to meet people, there are people all over the ship. I meet people on every cruise. Go do the things you enjoy, and talk to the people around as you do them. as far as I am concerned, the captains club program should just be about discounts and upgrades… as far as the other question of losing it’s sparkle… clearly the industry is changing. Celebrity is targeting younger passengers on edge class. I haven’t been on edge yet (but will in a month for a Panama Canal cruise)… my last cruise was on Solstice a few months ago to Alaska. The food was better than ever. The service was better than ever. The ship was clearly a bit past her prime, but given what happened over the last 2 years with government forced shutdowns, it’s a miracle that there weren’t more bankruptcies. looking at occupancy numbers on faux bookings on Celebrity vs Princess, it’s clear that Celebrity is doing something right as the occupancy % is very clearly better on X.
  22. My experience with debarkation times over many cruises on Celebrity is that even in a lower cabin category, if you mark down a flight time early in the day, you will get an early debarkation ... and if you mark a late flight or a drive, you will get a late debarkation. Most of my cruises are only a drive away (I live in Florida), or if I'm flying, I plan a later flight, so I usually get one of the last debarkation times, even in with Select status, and in a Suite ... and I don't care as I'm just having a nice last breakfast on the ship anyway... My point is that they seek to meet expectations, and AFAIK they do this well.
