  1. What happens onboard during this extra time? Are restaurants still open on their normal schedule? Spa? Gym? Beverage package still works? Obviously the casino would be closed, but perhaps it works out to just being a few extra free hours for those who didn’t have an early flight to catch?
  2. Is there a Lemon Law for cruise ships? Can they bring this back to the dealer?
  3. On my last two cruises, one in Aqua, other in Suites… the sommelier was very aggressive about trying to get me to order drinks on my drink package. I don’t personally drink alcohol much, and only had the package because it was thrown in with the package with WiFi and tips to the point that it didn’t make sense to not have it… in any event, I’m not sure if it’s just significantly different in Blu/Luminae vs MDR, but I can’t imagine it being hard to get drinks. the sommelier gets paid per drink they pour on the beverage packages. It’s in their interest to serve as much as possible.
  4. Why not? You can't stack Captain's Club discount with Black Friday discounts ... so if the website pricing is cheaper, just cancel the existing order online and book the black friday discount. Website is easy peasy, and I'm "just" Elite.
  5. In general, it's really hard to gain much information from reading/listening to other people's reviews of food quality... As an example: 1 Year ago I was on a (10 night?) Panama Canal cruise on Edge in a Sky Suite. We enjoyed every meal we had, and dined (mostly) in Luminae, but also visited Blu twice and Normandie once. We would have gone to Blu a third time when the menu looked better there vs Luminae for the evening -- but it looked really busy, and we didn't want to make it harder on them. In any event. One night, I ordered a Veal Cheek in Luminae... and it was one of the best meals I have ever had. Just after finishing it, I ended up in a conversation with the couple at the table next to us ... who complained that there wasn't anything good on the menu most nights, including that night... Maybe his idea of "good meal" is limited to "Filet Mignon" every night ... I don't know ... but we had something different every night and always enjoyed ourselves. Personally ... I prefer a Ribeye to a Filet Mignon, and don't care for Lobster... If the prime choice ever night was either Filet or Lobster, I'd make do, but wouldn't be satisfied. As I said, people have different tastes. On my previous cruise (about 2 years ago), in Aqua class, about 5 nights we had food from the Blu menu (and enjoyed it), and on the other 2 nights, we didn't find anything we liked on that menu, but did find things on the MDR menu, and enjoyed that instead... With that said, yes, I know, things apparently changed this year. I'll see for myself in 1 month when we go on a B2B cruise totaling 28 days in Aqua class... But, looking at the menus posted to the app for the Eclipse Dec 1-7 in both Blu and MDR ... it looks like I'll be able to get something I'm happy with every night, assuming the menu is similar for my sailing (starting Dec 23). As a related tangent: I've been to many high-end restaurants in my life, and the same is true there... As an example, there was a restaurant in Miami which was very expensive, and very difficult to get reservations, and the reviews were amazing ... People would post pictures to their social media about how cool every dish looked ... With that said, I went there with a large group of friends, and we literally said "We will have 2 of everything, just bring it all to the table and we will share." Got to try the entire menu... Everything looked cool, but tasted like cardboard. But, great reviews...
  6. I'd second that ... I haven't experienced this on Beyond, but I have experienced issues with Mold in a house... And there is absolutely a phenomenon that after a certain amount of time of exposure, you can no longer smell it. This phenomenon is called "Anosmia". Mold can absolutely cause serious health issues, and if you've smelled it from day 1 and are experiencing health issues, you should notify Guest Services or Retreat Services IMMEDIATELY.
  7. After having done the behind-the-scenes tour on Celebrity Edge, and seeing how the laundry is done ... I'd only use their wash-and-fold service for very sturdy clothes like gym clothes, underwear, socks, and maybe a cheap pair of jeans for dirty excursions or something like that ... Their wash-and-fold goes through giant industrial washers at high temperature, mixed with all other customer and staff clothes... It's not a mild process... At home, I wash most of my clothes at cold temperature, and don't even put most of my T-shirts in the dryer, in order to keep them looking nice... For anything I actually cared about... I'd use their dry cleaning.
  8. Do they do complimentary water in MDR/Blu in this scenario?
  9. Resurrecting this old thread ... This will be my first cruise as an Elite, and my first B2B coming up ... I've got a few questions. If they are counting 30 items for the elite bag, how do socks count? is one pair one item or two? For a 14 day cruise, you could easily burn through 30 items in just socks and underwear alone, especially if socks count two items. My plan is to use it for socks, underwear, and gym clothes, and working out every day ... on a B2B of two 14 night cruses (28 nights total) ... Seems like I'll probably need to pay for another bag, or pack enough for extra nights? How do others handle it with long cruises?
  10. I'm just curious ... In order to get the value of the coffee/tea benefit, you would have to basically not even have the Classic beverage package (since that includes the coffees) .. What do you do for water?
  11. This reads like a mistake to me ... Like, this is supposed to be included at $0 as part of the bundle when you buy the Celebrity Pass... I think this is just wifi and not the rest of the Celebrity Pass benefits.
  12. Simple Espresso and Cappuccino should fall under the Classic beverage package.
  13. I just did this and the OBC credited back (almost) immediately on one cancellation, and took about 5 minutes on the other.
  14. I was on Edge for a Panama Canal partial transit cruise this year, and I went on that deck a few times ... It was always INCREDIBLY windy, much moreso than any of the other outdoor decks. Very difficult to spend more than a few minutes there.
  15. I have a B2B sailing coming up on Eclipse, December 23-Jan 6, and Jan 6-Jan 20... The first one does not have any Black Friday discounts on the excursions, but the second one does. On the second one, some excursions have 30%, others 50%... I managed to rebook my excursions and save $700 (!).
  16. Strange. In any event, the pictures it is showing you are certainly the ones for the Premium beverage package, so I wouldn't be concerned about it... 17. Click on the picture for the beverage package, and it should explain what is included. Hope this helps!
  18. The Eclipse is all short cruises on the west coast right now, isn't it? Do you mean the menu would repeat if you did a back-to-back?
  19. I've been to both Turkey (Ankara) and U.A.E (Dubai and Abu Dhabi). I'm American and a secular Jew. I can say that before going to UAE, I had read a lot of things about how repressive they were, human rights issues, etc, etc ... And then I went there ... The locals I interacted with were from many different ethnic and religious backgrounds, everyone was friendly to me, and the ones I asked about what they thought about life in UAE, all seemed to love it there... I'm not going to go as far as to say that I think it's a perfect country -- obviously no place is -- but keep in mind that media will highlight problems in any country, and even when looking at USA, we have major problems here with human trafficking for both sex slavery and plenty of other abuse in the agriculture/food prep industries ... English is very widely spoken, so you will be very aware of what's going on around you. The government there clearly is trying to make improvements over time, and I consider them to be a civilized country with different problems than we see in North America and Europe ... but overall ... a comparable place. UAE has an official peace agreement with Israel, and I'm happy to say I have Emirati friends. The younger Emiratis seem to generally be pretty secular. As far as Turkey goes ... Erdogan is a dictator. The country is poorly run. The country has major problems with hyperinflation, corruption, crime, extremism, anti-semitism, etc etc... I have friends from (and in) Turkey. None of them have nice things to say about the government. Most will comment about how the food is great (it is), and there are great deals to be had if you have foreign currency (also true), and there is beautiful nature (I don't personally know, I only saw Ankara) ... English is not very widely spoken, so you will lose a lot of situational awareness. To get an idea of how poorly spoken English is in Turkey ... In Ankara - the Capital - I had problems ordering breakfast at the hotel restaurant, a hotel which caters to international travelers. But in any event, I'd certainly feel *far* safer going to UAE than Turkey. In both countries - respect that you are in a place with very different laws and much stricter punishments. Do not bring illegal drugs. Do not buy drugs. Do not steal things. Do not go into religious places dressed immodestly. Treat people with respect. If you follow those rules, generally, you will do fine in either place.
  20. I always get two bottles, one from Aqua class, and one from my travel agent (American Express Platinum Travel)... Honestly, it's such a waste since I'm also getting a beverage package, so I never drink the wine, and I haven't figured out anything good to do with it.
  21. What's the proper way of doing this? Can you do it with an existing booking through a TA? Can you still get Captain's Club benefits/credits?
  22. I agree ... On my last cruise, I was in a Suite ... and found myself preferring OVC for breakfast over Luminae. Luminae had excellent quality and service of course, but the variety at OVC was much more to my liking. I found it great having access to Herring which I greatly enjoyed when I was in Germany, but is almost never served in the USA... as well as various other international choices. I can get an Omelette and Yogurt with Fruit anywhere ... And even when that's what I wanted, OVC was much quicker.
  23. When you say "account is locked"... what does this lock exactly? Casino activity, or does it preclude other transactions (eg: charging a spa service?)
  24. This just became available for $18.99/day for an upcoming sailing for me ... it inclues Premium Wifi, and is the same price as Premium Wifi... All I can say is "*****"? While I don't think it's a great idea for Celebrity to offer this at all, I'm just shocked at how cheap they are willing to sell this! This basically means that anyone who was planning on paying for Premium Wifi anyway can get this, and can now get many of the benefits of being an higher-tier Captain's Club Elite (or higher) member... Priority boarding, Priority tender ... And also some benefits of Concierge class (Welcome Lunch) ... And also some suite benefits (No room service fees. reserved seating in the theater) When everyone is special, nobody is special. Celebrity charges a ton more for Concierge Class vs Veranda, and also even more for Aqua class ... And yet they are willing to give this stuff away for practically free to anyone in the cheapest Inside cabin who is willing to pay for the cost of wifi (ie: almost everyone???) What's even the point of Concierge Class now?
  25. Saying it's a religious reason isn't actually THAT far fetched... I'm not sure if you're aware of this or not, but a lot of American Jews have a tradition of eating Chinese food on Christmas (and possibly going to a movie theater) as sort of an in-joke because everything else is closed on Christmas, and the day isn't of any particular significance to jews...
