I don’t think I would want to play golf with someone I knew who removed grats w/o cause. Too much chance they’d pull a Judge Smails on me. Just my .02

  2. Well I think these types of threads do have a purpose. Particularly for those of us who have not sailed on NCL yet. In the interest of full disclosure I am primarily a fan of Royal Caribbean and celebrity cruises. A lot of posters in those forums have cruised on NCL and have good things to say about their experiences.

I have a cruise booked for February 2019 on the Bliss. I’ve been mostly lurking here to try to get a lot of information about NCL. I doubt this incident on the Sun will cause us to cancel the booking, but it does give me second thoughts about whether or not NCL will be a viable regular option for us.

  3. Greetings. Taking my wife, daughters & grandkids on Anthem of the Seas this Christmas; returning to Royal Caribbean almost 30 years after my first cruise ever, which was on Sovereign of the Seas. (Between then we have cruised on Carnival, NCL, and Disney.) Odd thing is Royal can find no record of the cruise to add to my profile. It was my first time traveling with my future wife (it was even mentioned along with a photo in a memoir I published.) I provided addresses, birthdates, wife’s maiden name; it’s not a big deal but I can’t stand when I know for certain I am correct and I sense the person I am speaking with doesn’t fully believe me. Even offered to send him photos with a logo on them. He did seem to be looking hard to find something and assured me the records go back that far. Any ideas? Should I just try another rep?

Welcome home. I have a similar issue. I’ve not reached out to RCI at all assuming it was a long time ago and wasn’t worth the bother. I did my first cruise on Rhapsody in August of 1997 shortly after her maiden voyage. 7 night Alaska Cruise in a Jr. Suite. Then there was a 16 year gap between that cruise and my second; work; time shares and various other land vacations took priority. Of course I neglected to save any cruise documentation. I just figured it is not worth the hassle.

I’m interested to see what answers you get

  4. I agree with the advice for using a TA. However, do the work yourself. Research the cruise you want, the cabins, and the time of year and the sales/deals the cruise line is offering. Then go to the TA. You want to get the booking incentives from the cruise line as well as extra perks from the TA (over and above the cruise line).

Note that most cruise lines allow one to book a cruise directly and then transfer to a TA. I’ve done that a couple of times.

  5. I guess this is a semi-high jack of the thread. I apologize if it is. But I’ve been going through the getting a Celebrity/RCI reward card dilemma for years. I’m just not sold. As was mentioned above. There are other better options. I’m a frequent leisure traveler and former part time road warrior of many years ago. I just don’t see these BofA cards as a good option.

Sure OBC is nice, but when you look at the points and the other rewards I just don’t seen the benefit over using a different rewards card, like Chase Sapphire for example. The rewards and 1:1 partner point transfer just seem like a better return than a few hundred bucks OBC.

Other than joining and getting the bonus points for the OBC on a cruise, I doubt I’d ever use it as a regular card, even for booking a cruise. I’d most likely cancel after using the points for OBC.

Am I wrong in my analysis?

  6. Yep. We’ve been paying the $450 pp as well. My .02 is I don’t mind this at all. As others have said it helps defray the amount at final payment. In fact depending on the cruise I’ll make a few other payments along the way. If I have to cancel or change I just move that deposit/payment to a new booking.

  7. I think the video is amazing! Better then anything the cruise lines have paid huge money for!! This 59 year old wanted to be part of the crew!!! That what good advertising does!!

Agree. This shows a lot of talent and creativity. I’m jealous.

I do vacation videos for our small group of 50 somethings when we do our annual summer trips. I try and try but can never come up with anything remotely as good as these videos.

  8. Here comes part 1 of my "review". The other parts will follow but I can´t tell you whether I can publish another part today or whether you have to wait for tomorrow. It´s a deck by deck photo description (if you want to read the German text try google translate). Restaurants, bars, lounges will follow in separate parts as well as cabin and a the suites they had opened up (we did not tour all show cabins).

I saw a sign at El Loco Fresh that it´s open for breakfast too. Unfortunately I saw this later during the day and yesterday they had no breakfast up there. But as it´s open for breakfast I assume they will have the omlett station there as they do have on the other Oasis Class ships.
