  1. Beef carpaccio, beautifully presented with fried capers and toasted pine nuts. Prawn bruschetta Bibb salad Lobster roll- yum! Cioppino Desserts - Strawberry Pavlova and Berries and Sabayon
  2. So, it’s been an eventful day, with more to come. Our casual M&G was in the Crow’s Nest at 10:30, and we had around a dozen show up, which was more than I expected, and it was a fun get together. All are staying on for the TA, so we will see more of each other. Others seem to be attending more entertainment than we have so far, and said the pianists are exceptional in the Billboard, and that the Cantare group has been very good in the main theatre. We will have to make more of an effort to attend. Then, at 11:15 was the Mariner Reception for 4 and 5 star and up and medallions were awarded. Captain Timmers kept everyone laughing with a string of one-liners. I told him we would miss him, and he said our new Captain “is a serious guy”. Next up was lunch in the Pinnacle, and I think the menu is new. It also has the fine print to say additional appetizers or mains will incur a charge. It was a lovely lunch, and really much more photogenic - really well presented. I think we will do it again. Then we had the wine tasting. There was a beer tasting at the same time in the ocean bar, and a mixology tasting in the atrium, so they must have been using every glass on the ship. I think it was over 100 at the wine tasting, and I overheard the organizer saying they had 87 at the mixology tasting. They had fancier glasses… Tony and Pat headed off to the World Stage after the tasting for Ask The Captain, aka “Captain’s Comedy Hour”. I’m sure I’ll hear all about it. I’ll do the lunch pictures in a separate post. Captain Timmers had the Hotel Manager chuckling. Checking out Tony’s platinum medallion Bit of art - deconstructed guitar? glasses at the mixology tasting
  3. Oh, no! We’re expecting you on board, and you are invited to join us in 5050 for sailaway- there will be 10 of us on our verandah. Tony will tell you more. PTZ will be filming, or maybe you will have someone to take pictures. Roy is good at that.
  4. We are just in a verandah on Rotterdam, but I imagine a Signature suite would not be any different regarding outlets. There is an electric outlet and a USB outlet. I find the electric one charges my phone faster. PS. The same on both sides of the bed.
  5. Funny thing at breakfast today. Pat believes water is for washing, and always turns his glass over at the table. This morning, when we sat down, the glass had already been turned over. Talk about service! 😄
  6. It was a very nice lobster. A lot of meat. I should not have had the Key Lime pie after! PS. When I commented on the beautiful patterning on the shell, our waiter said it was a Caribbean lobster…
  7. Thanks everyone for your wonderful posts every day. They keep me going! No rabbits here at sea… Half Moon Cay tomorrow, I want to check on the chickens. I’ve worried about them ever since they had that hurricane a few years ago.
  8. Our one and only sea day on this cruise… but we will be busy. There may be a few people, I think, at a casual M&G in the Crow’s Nest, at 10:30, then the Mariners ‘ reception at 11, I’ll send Pat to that, I’ll be late. We have a reservation for lunch in the Pinnacle at 12 and then a wine tasting at 2. I imagine Mass will be at 5, and then dinner in CO . I do want to check out the nighttime venues, but that may have to wait until the next segment , we’re taking it easy on this one, and it’s very crowded on board.
  9. We had a delicious dinner, thank you! I had crab cakes and the lobster (Friday in Lent, must make a sacrifice, you know…). Tony had stuffed mushrooms and the small filet mignon, Pat had the Forest mushroom soup and the halibut, and Martha had Caesar salad and the lamb chops. A selection of desserts - didn’t get pictures of those. Mine such a beautiful shell on my lobster Pat’s soup, his fish wasn’t that beautiful Tony’s and Martha’s lamb chops
  10. Here are the toes! She told me I have swollen ankles, which I would never have known, I don’t look closely down there that often, but maybe those flights did it. Now I’m ready for the Pinnacle tonight. Strangely enough, as we were leaving Port Everglades we saw quite a lot of brown seaweed floating past, (sargassum?), and there is more in the water here at Key West. It must make a mess of the beaches. I’m not sure if you can make it out in my picture.
  11. Hope you got through before that! Once we were called, it went quickly. Now having my pedicure!
  12. We’re on the other side so this is our view- The lads cleaned our windows and door, so our room is bright again. I was surprised as I figured it would not be done until we got back to FLL. They are working hard! We won’t be allowed off for a while. I think our Customs time is 11!
  13. Good morning Dailyites. I m not posting much on this thread, but I’m thinking of you. Thanks for all the news. Getting close to Key West,I think, here’s what the sea looks like I have a really smart phone. Whenever I type in Ta it gives me the choice of Tana or Tamarind! It really knows my mind.
  14. I had been seeing that menu for some time on my Navigator. I wasn’t sure what was going on but it makes sense what @0106 says. The crab and artichoke (dip) was yummy. Last night we had treats slid under the door late. I might try for a pedicure today, and let Pat go ashore on his own. I’m a bit stiff from yesterday, and he’s better of being able to walk fast.
  15. Tony and Martha went to Nami Sushi for dinner, but we opted to go to Club Orange for our first dressy night. The Captains greeting was at 7 around the lido pool, and I wondered how that would go, but it was well done and Captain Timmers spent some time socializing with the passengers seated at tables. We chatted for a while, he’ll be happy to go home for a break. He has been our Captain on Koningsdam in the past and he told us how he too the K through the Panama Canal. CO was almost empty when we arrived and our food came quickly. I am really liking this CO - so comfortable and quiet. Khay came by for a visit, and we had fun with her. We finished around 9, and headed back to the room to read. We were a bit surprised that the laundry we put out this morning wasn’t back, but the ship is pretty full, so maybe things are a bit slower than usual. (Evidently 2700 on board - it certainly seems crowded). We saw quite a lot of tuxes and dark suits this evening, which I thought was surprising, but maybe they’re going on the TA, too. Dinner menu My tenderloin was much better than at the Outback! The chairs are really comfortable.
  16. Tonight is our first “dressy night”, I’m seeing lots of sparkles, but we’ll go to dinner later - this is the 5:30 crowd. I didn’t bring much in the way of fancy dress, so I’ll be wearing what I have over and over. Hope no one notices! We’re also going to have an Orange night, I don’t know if there will be a second dressy night on a short 5-day cruise. We’re feeling a bit of the motion of the ocean, and our window and door are wet with spray.
  17. A picture of the entrance of the bank. We went inside, but it was nothing like what we remembered.
  18. I saw Captain Timmers in the Lido at lunchtime today, and I asked him if he would be on the TA. He said no, his “time is up” and he would be leaving the ship, returning in June. The obligatory bread pudding today..
  19. Then our big outing of the day here in Nassau. We were married here 60 years ago last November, in the tiny Sacred Heart Church on Shirley Street. It was old and dilapidated even in those days, and we didn’t know if it was still standing. We found a taxi driver who knew what we were talking about, and he drove us around for a few hours. Sacred Heart Church 60 years ago. And today New roof, but not too much had changed. The sad part was going through the cemetery we saw a lot of familiar names, friends and people we worked with. The our driver managed to find the house I lived in with my parents for 5 years before Pat and I were married! 60 years ago and now Then we tried to find where Pat had lived but it was gone, and the driver dropped us in town and we went into the Royal Bank of Canada where Pat ( and I for a while) had worked. So all in all good memories!
  20. The Crow’s Nest seems ver open. Lots of comfortable seating and tables. The bar is much smaller than on the other ships, set out of the way, but the biggest change is the Captain’s Corner, which is set up with tables for games and puzzles.
  21. After breakfast we did a bit of a wander, went to check out the library and get a latte in the Crow’s Nest. A few pictures… Lincoln Centre Stage is still on the entrance to BB King’s The library. Just a few chairs scattered about. It is set up more to take your book away with you. There are a couple of cabinets marked “Book Exchange”.
  22. Club Orange for breakfast. Less of a goldfish bowl effect with wood “walls” and no glass. There’s a surprising number of tables, a lot of two-tops.
