  1. It was raining last night as we came out of the Outback, but it looks nice today. We had the typical hotel breakfast. They all seem to have a pancake machine these days, not the old waffle maker. Our room looks over the pool.
  2. It would have been the people in steerage who would have suffered then, perhaps they were expected to bring their own food.
  3. I wouldn’t have minded Bimini as an alternative, but we like Key West. Have to have Key Lime pie!
  4. We are up - my alarm worked today! Yesterday our alarms did not (user error) luckily I was awake early anyway, but at least it went off today. I wonder if we will actually leave at 3. Have to make it to Nassau by 7 am tomorrow.
  5. Just had an itinerary change notification this morning - there had been mention on other threads that very late changes were being made from Key West to Bimini, so I immediately thought that was what it was, but no, just a time change in Key West, we’ll leave at 6 instead of 9. I wouldn’t have minded if they had changed it altogether, as I haven’t been to Bimini. I don’t know about anyone else, but I still have no boarding time on my Navigator app. It says. “Invalid Date Time”.
  6. I think that’s the place that used to be the Comfort Inn? We stayed there a few times, we would have continued but they shut it down for a few years…
  7. There’s a CVS down the road, past the Embassy Suites, and a Walgreens nearby , too, in the other direction., according to my Maps.me app. It’s a useful app, because it doesn’t need internet, but you have to download the maps you think you will need ahead of time, when you do have internet. There’s a shopping center with the Total Wine, a Publix, TJMaxx, etc., too. sorry, Gerry, I posted before reading your much better responses!
  8. We are in the Holiday Inn Express on 17th. It’s a little further away from the Outback than other places we’ve stayed, but I think we will try to make the trek this evening. It’s usually our “go to” the first night we’re here, and then the second night we go somewhere else, but although this is our second night of the hotel booking, it’s really our first night!
  9. Yes, we’re here! Such beautiful weather, Pat has headed straight out to Total Wine! This hotel seems very nice, Tony, thanks for the recommendation, we’ll see how breakfast is in the morning. We have already booked a shuttle to the ship for 10 tomorrow morning, I think we’ll be waiting around for a while, but the next one is 11:30, and we want to board pdq… We flew over Port Everglades, this is not very clear, but we could see it. It’s real!
  10. We’re here! Delightful temperature of around 78, Pat has headed out to Total Wine and I’m putting my feet up for a bit. So all’s well that ends well, and we hope things go smoothly now. The cruise gremlins almost did us in! Happy to hear Karen’s DH is doing better, Maureen’s DH had his eye surgery- hope it’s a great success. I’ve had iridectomies for possible glaucoma, but I hate anyone even coming near my eyes, so it was very traumatic. I suffer just hearing about his surgery! All the best to all the Dailyites.
  11. I am awake, but Pat is still asleep and I’ll wake him soon. I’m not sure how much time we’re going to need to get to the airport at this time of day. It took 20 minutes to get to the hotel, but may take longer in rush hour. Every cloud has a silver lining, we called friends (ours and Jacqui’s), and they immediately came over to the hotel and insisted on taking us to dinner, so we had a lovely evening. now, on to Fort Lauderdale. 😀
  12. Good morning, all! We are in Toronto, as we missed our flight to Fort Lauderdale yesterday, but every cloud has a silver lining, as friends were able to join us for dinner here, and we had a lovely evening. Thinking of you as we head for an 11 o’clock flight to FLL.
  13. Just as well we booked two nights in Fort Lauderdale. We made it to Calgary safely, but what’s with all that white stuff?! We saw planes being deiced, and all kinds of heavy equipment we do not have in Victoria. We made it to our gate just in time to board, but then waited over an hour to get deiced (which took an while) and missed our flight to FLL. Flying over the “frozen tundra” was very impressive, but I had forgotten it is still winter there. Our airline has been good to us, though, hotel and transfer vouchers, plus a whole lot of meal vouchers. And a flight out tomorrow morning at 11. It gets to Fort Lauderdale at 2:30, though, and a day later All Aboard is 2:30, we would be missing our cruise! Leaving Victoria we could see Mt. Baker, Mt. Rainier and even Mt. St. Helens. And a beautiful sunrise. we watched the deicing as we arrived - like going through the car wash! We were able to track our bags using our AirTags and they came through in good order. There’s no snow in Toronto, so we hope things go smoothly tomorrow and Fort Lauderdale, here we come!
  14. The coffee shop at the airport has just opened its doors, and Pat is waiting in line while I sit and hold onto the carryons. I have already checked my “Find My” app and our suitcases are somewhere in the terminal. Our AirTags are almost a year old, one needed a new battery, so we brought spares with us, too. I am nervous that with three flights to get us to FLL, at least one of our bags won’t arrive with us. DD was very helpful this morning, drove us to the airport at 3:45, and came in with us to move the bags onto the conveyor belt. Mine just made it under the limit. Now she can go home and sleep…
  15. I think of you so often with our D H worries. I think we will come back to a radical cystectomy for mine , if we can get the date moved up. He is still taking antibiotics, but no more Foley…
  16. Pat has been having a really bad nosebleed all evening. I thought we’d have to go to the hospital, but DD went out and got a spray decongestant and that seems to have done the trick. It really seems like Someone doesn’t want us to go!
  17. Happy Anniversary, Dailyites all! I'm late, it's been busy, but we are packed and ready to leave tomorrow morning at 3:30 a.m. We should get to Fort Lauderdale at 8:15, after three flights. Pat did our check ins and I did the Health questionnaire for HAL. I had been waiting for it to appear, and today it did. I had a feeling it usually showed up sooner.
  18. We are packed and ready to leave tomorrow morning, even before the crack of dawn. It will be a long day. My suitcase is looking rather plump, I'm just hoping it's not overweight.
  19. I went off for a bit to turn the mattress, and it’s all over. Speedy ships! I’ll have to pay better attention.
  20. Thank you, we have requested a wave. We will be in 5050, which is a long verandah above the first lifeboats. We will have a Canadian flag. Hopefully, 6 of us, @sailingdutchy and @dutch46, waving furiously.
  21. We are scheduled to sail at 3 on Wednesday on Rotterdam, I have a feeling that when the sailing is set for that time, it doesn't often actually happen. The following cruise, the TA, is set to sail at 4, and I wonder about that, too.
  22. I do hope that this thread will continue into those two legs! We did originally book the first one, separately, but decided to cancel it and instead have a week in Ireland. I will definitely be checking out the ship in the Caribbean, and if you have any questions, let me know.
  23. Still "Good Morning", here, Dailyites, but approaching lunchtime We will be having a fruit salad with pecans. That is a staple for us when we are on a diet, and I keep a supply in the freezer, always. I prefer a pancake to a waffle, but it has to be with maple syrup and bacon. Hearty congratulations to @ger_77' DH for his medal! And I must send thanks to @luvteaching for alerting me to male UTIs! That was last year, I think, and when I twigged that was what DH had I immediately sent him off for a urinalysis - for the third time now he is on antibiotics, and will stay on them until he has his surgery - now set for June 6. He rejected the possibility of May 6, right after we get back, and I was very upset with that, but I am trying to resign myself to the fact that it is his decision to make. I had a bad day yesterday, and decided I would not be in a good enough mood to do a Live From, but during a sleepless night I told myself to just buck up and do it. I'm hoping that perhaps someone here will be able to post a picture at sailaway, if the webcam does find us! Very sad news about the Pa. chocolate factory and loss of life. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of good news going around these days.
  24. That is great to get some other impressions of the ship and cruises. We are mainly stick-in-the-muds, so I will want to hear about a lot of the happenings too! I am just hoping there will be a Lincoln Center Stage!
