Appreciate it! Is Oostie safely docked behind you now?

Yes.  All safely docked.  Appears from up here cleanup is in progress.

i have a feeling we may not be sailed by on time today.

They are taking in transit into Customs at 09:50. Don’t even want to leave and face the crowds later with Bliss at the terminal

An "incident" is an unscheduled event that could lead to loss of, or disruption to, an organization's operations, services or functions and an "accident" is an unintentional act and unplanned event that could have been prevented under certain circumstances. But I do not have a clue why that is germane to the occurrence involving the two dam ships in Vancouver, BC this morning and No, the Germans didn't have anything to do with it

Thanks for the laugh!  When the steward knocked on our door and announced that we needed to evacuate Loren had just stepped into the shower and had to grab clothes and go.  Luckily the evacuation was cancelled shortly after and he got to finish his shower.  I told a friend that I bet we could have learned some great Dutch words if we had been on the Bridge 🙂

Where did this happen, Frank? Windy conditions?

Canada Place.  We were tied up. Oosterdam was pulling in behind us on the west side of the terminal.  Looks like some of the deck 4 verandas were damaged. Looks like some have no railings.

I was at Sea View pool with friends and the grinding sound was horrible.

    No wind to speak of

  5. NA appears to have the most damage. At one point they were evacuating all cabins aft of middle elevators but cancelled the evacuation.

Didn’t hear any medical pages so likely no injuries. We were tied up at the dock.

To the sarcastic post:  when two cars collide it is a motor vehicle Accident.  If someone breaks the windows out it is an incident.  First picture is NA.

wanted to post before over blown news reports came out

When did Taxmantoo have an issue?

Please comment, because your post is very disturbing to those of us who work very hard every day at the port.

If I don't know what and when your concern with the port was, then how do we attempt to improve?

David- we were in yesterday with Disney ship.  Everyone in the terminal was friendly and great.  Lines were moving quickly and we were on board quickly.  We arrived at 10:30- and was a long line outside.  Security opened shortly after and moved very quickly.

Was looking forward to trying the "new" escalator but wasn't running yesterday. 🙂

Good job San Diego staff- thank you!!!

  8. We are on Nieuw Amsterdam and watched Eurodam pass us going into San Diego.  Heard on board that one Azipod had fishing lines tangled in Azipod.  Was due in San Diego tomorrow but getting in a night early.

I'm guessing that due to mechanical or safety issues there can be waivers to PVSA.  I have heard that it can be waived for medical evacuations.

  9. Saw the promo for dollar deposits today only.  I left a message for our PCC and said "I hear you have one dollar cruises.  We'll take 3.  Seriously though, is that deposit refundable?"

I'm sure she will be having a very busy day today-wanted to start it out with a smile.

I have seen post on here where people have adjusted their tip. I myself have never done it. I know that it goes to all and not just that one person who might have not treated me as expected. Maybe they were having a bad day. Or a bad week. Perhaps they are missing home, their child, who knows. So I will not penalize others because of one bad apple. Just my opinion.

Our last cruise included gratuities in a promo when we booked- we spoke to the Concierge and filled out the form to add $25 per day to it.  I can't even imagine lowering or removing it- everyone works so hard to make us happy.

We were just in Rite Aid 2 weeks ago and generally visit it every time we sail out of SD, as it is very convenient to the pier (about 3-4 blocks) and Little Italy.  As such, we are there during daylight hours (6-7 PM at the latest) and have never felt uncomfortable.

I agree that it is not the BEST place to get your wine, but it is very convenient plus we also pick up a few other items while there. Ralphs is a better option to be sure, but it is further than I care to walk.

From any of the downtown or waterfront hotels you can use FRED to get anywhere downtown or out to Little Italy.  It's FREE electric vehicles (they expect you to tip the driver).  Google FRED San Diego- they have an app you can download. They will take you to Ralphs or a wine shop

  12. I really think that HAL was following Princess lead with their new Club Class. Princess did include some of the mini suites in the new program but I don't belie NV e 5hey sell access.

My guess is that someone at HAL decided they could sell it to all as another revenue generator. Apart from the new ships people paying $50 per day per person to eat in the same room all others pay nothing for. No extra staff needed and just need to add one dinner special.  HAL has dropped fares so low they need added revenue anywhere they can get it.

  13. We are on B2B cruises starting the end of this month.  We noticed after final payment that the price on our NS for the 7 night Alaska leg had dropped by $1000 per person.  I booked about a year ahead to be able to book a specific cabin and not move at the turnaround day so was not surprised by the big price drop and really didn't expect anything.

Mentioned it to our PCC in a conversation about other stuff and she said that she would check into it. She called back a bit later and said that they were giving us a FCC and OBC that added up to the price difference minus the E4 benefits we had. She said that the OBC needed to be for specific items and not open OBC.  We sent her an email with our desires on the OBC.

Next day she called back and told me that "they" had changed their minds, pulled the offer and we going to give us $200 FCC. That was it.

I'm not angry that they didn't do anything for the price drop- I expected that. I'm very disappointed in the way they handled the whole thing.  If they had said "sorry- it is after final payment" in the beginning I would have been fine.

I made an offer to someone at work in the past that was way too generous.  My company honored what I said but I guarantee it didn't happen again as I caught hell for it.
