I chatted with Julie about the lack of a Diamond event. Internally the Crown and Anchor department carries the financial burden of Diamond Happy Hour in their budget center. They've looked at different ideas but some of it comes down to staffing. Empress isn't staffed to host a Diamond event. At a minimum it takes 3 crew to host and serve a dedicated happy hour event and with fewer crew on Empress that would mean pulling crew from elsewhere causing another area to be understaffed every night.
It's not a decision the Hotel Director can make exclusively since C&A pays for it. They are always considering ideas and I let her know it is one of the more popular discussion points amongst Diamond and higher cruisers who consider Empress when booking a cruise. She was curious if I thought cruisers just wanted a meeting place to see other Diamond members or if the happy hour drinks were the issue. I suggested that the drinks beyond the 3 happy hour 'coupons' were more of a point of contention.
I'm not sure anything will come of it but it's nice to know they are aware of how us cruisers feel and they aren't just standing on policy but are thinking about our concerns.
Above is his conversation with the HD about the Diamond event

Something I forgot to mention in my last Empress thread are the USB outlets. They are found on the bottom of the lights on each side of the bed. It's a great hidden feature.
Are these in all cabin categories or just in suites?

Going to hate to hate to see these reviews end! Thanks again for sharing your experiences and amazing pictures.

On the other thread when someone asked what equipment he used to get the milky way shots. this was his reply
I shot this using a full frame Sony A7III with a Sony 12-24mm lens. A crop sensor body that most people shoot wouldn't be able to get this wide. The A7III also has really good low light performance, night and day from my last full frame body, a Nikon D750.
Also keep in mind I have a pretty good investment in gear. Body and lens for this shot are ~ $3,700.

Yes, looking at it right now. In the upper right corner its says "Complete Payment"

I know the title seems strange, but I'm really curious. I booked a cruise under the $1 deposit awhile back and final payment was due 7/25.
I didn't feel like waiting on hold or taking up a reps time, cancelling a $1 deposit, so I just assumed they would automatically cancel it.
Guess they are giving me time to reconsider lol.

I'm sailing on Empress in Jan 2020 and the drink package is $52. It was $49 when I first booked.

They extended it to to the 9th.

Great scope from Coco Cay! Everyone should follow him on Periscope, to get the live videos as well. Nice to see Coco Cay is not crowded with 2 ships in port.

I know there aren't that many but they are smaller than the regular OV's so not sure why someone would pick that first.
Im guessing you are trying to book 2 passengers in the studio OV, it will always come up higher. If you check with just 1 pax, you will see the Studio OV is always cheaper than even interiors. Im really not sure why they even allow 2 people to book it, since its never a savings.

Ok. I don’t understand how it’s open but you’re the expert
This is a speculation thread until things are announced. So people will look at port schedules and try to figure out which ships will be moving in the 21-22 booking season.
If you scroll down you will see one for this current booking season.
Its just a fun way to figure things out before you can actually book.

The itineraries and prices are loaded in Espresso so it's official.
I wasn't doubting that it was officiall, I just didn't want to start a thread, until I could add the press release attached to it.

The future of Empress was discussed and there will be an announcement very soon with some new and different itineraries for Empress. She isn't going anywhere just yet and they are taking advantage of her small size to return to some more interesting destinations that larger ships can't visit. Out of respect I won't say more but I'll be keeping an eye out for them very soon and I know I'll be booking more cruises on Empress.
The new itineraries are already posted on the site. Bermuda and Canada starting in May of 2020 out of Bayonne. Also a 12 night Repo when she returns home to Miami leaving from Quebec.

Empress will be going to Bayonne and Quebec City next year.I see Bermuda cruises with stops in Hamilton and St George in May, June, July and August 2020 sailing dates. Im also seeing a nice Repo cruise from Quebec to Miami Oct 2020 when she resumes her Miami cruises.. 10 and 11 night Canadian cruises are also on the schedule.
They are currently loading the schedules and the site is more temperamental than usual. I was going to make this a separate page, but probably best to wait until the official press release later this morning with all the info.
