  1. Well I did say I was probably the last to know. In my defense, this is the first time I've cruised with anyone other than an adult. I was remembering discussions on the boards about having someone at least 25 in a cabin. Guess that was quite awhile ago. The older you get, the faster the years fly by. Anyway, thanks for all the info.

Its really hard keeping up with all the policies, especially when many don't directly have an impact on you.

  2. Personally, I like to just do the courtesy holds online, without the PVP calling back to see if you want to actually book. Some can be quite persistent.

Even if you outright booked it on Monday, you have 48 hours to get the lowest price guarantee.

  3. This is just my observation, so please please please do not flame me.

Don't get me wrong, I love kids. And I believe kids should be able to eat in any specialty restaurant as long as they pay for that seat. If seats are now at a premium, that might mean that they need to pay the same price as everybody else.

But the kids menu is still an option and complimentary. So nothing has changed in that regard.

  5. Both of the cruises are Journey cruises. The first is 10 days the second half is 11 days. No special offers for it on the website right now. Looking at the rooms there are a lot available. A certain fish site states that it is only 28% sold out where as the second half is suppose to be 48% sold out.

Strange that they are already offering Super Saver. Maybe that is why?

Actually your first cruise is included in the Past Guest Journey offer, while your second cruise is not because its after 1/2016.

Not sure if that's why ES has suddenly disappeared, but its a possibility. Then again it could pop back up tomorrow.

    As mentioned

The Early Saver fare is subject to availability and is capacity controlled

Just did a check on several journey cruises from 10/15-1/16 and ES was removed from all the ones I pulled up.

  6. Me too! Just putting my empty bottle or wadded up napkin on a table or some other surface for someone else to clean up goes against my grain. I feel like a slob, but in most areas of the ship there is no option other than carry it back to your room and throw it away.

If it really bothers you, just drop it in the trash can in one of the many bathrooms.

  7. Could Carnival bump someone in the OP's situation if it isn't a handicapped cabin?

    From ticket contract

    (g) Specific stateroom assignments are not guaranteed. Carnival reserves the right to move Guests to a comparable stateroom for any reason, including but not limited to, instances in which a stateroom is booked with fewer than the maximum number of Guests the stateroom can accommodate; or when a partial Guest cancellation occurs and the remaining number of Guests do not match the maximum number of Guests the stateroom can accommodate.

  8. While I have been successful in getting price drops every time I've booked early saver there is no guarantee that will happen.

If you book last minute you can choose between not just any ship, but any cruiseline.

I cruise off season often, so last minute cruises are always the better option for me.

  9. I was on Serenade a couple of years ago and there was a group of young adults, about 20 that participated in a Model UN conference, then used the ship as transportation back to the states.

    So you really never know.

Hope you have a great time.

  10. I believe, with the new Cuba-U.S. relationship, you can bring up to $100 of Cuban cigars back into the States. President Obama bypassed Congress and issued a executive order on it.

Only if you travel to Cuba and purchase them there

Can I import Cuban cigars into the U.S.?

Persons authorized to travel to Cuba may purchase alcohol and tobacco products while in Cuba for personal consumption while there. Authorized travelers may return to the United States with up to $100 worth of alcohol and/or tobacco products acquired in Cuba in accompanied baggage, for personal use only.*

Visit CBP.gov*CBP Public Notice on Process for Imports From Cuba*for more information*on the requirements for authorized imports under the Cuban Assets Control Regulations.

Purchasing Cuban-origin cigars and/or Cuban-origin rum or other Cuban-origin alcohol over the internet or while in a third country (i.e. not Cuba) remains prohibited.*

  11. I completely agree; from what I could tell, it seemed like a total waste.

Ships have to go into drydock on a specific schedule,it's not an option for them. At times and they are extensive other times they aren't, but its never a waste to make sure the ship is mechanically sound.

Below is all that was done.

    Renovations completed during dry-dock: 3/21/15-4/04/15

    Routine hotel maintenance

Cosmetic enhancements such as new carpeting, wall coverings and tile work in lounges and public areas

Alchemy Bar – located Deck 5 aft (replaced Caspian Wine Bar)*

SkyBox Sports Bar – located on Deck 5 midship (replaced Aegean Sports Bar)

  12. We definitely haven't made our final payment yet, so hopefully we will be fine, thanks!

Threadstarter's signature shows cruise in July 2015 - so depending on what day in June (75 days out) threadstarter could be just past final payment date

    Check above post

Plus they are sailing on Paradise,so final payment wouldn't be due until 61 days out.

  13. I know this is when they will be discounting heavily, but with the longer trip, I thought it might be hard to get a hundred or more people to take off 10+ days on short notice. We wont get the upsell offers because of the type of room we need, so I'd rather have a partly empty ship. Either way, thanks for your comments.

Lots of people are retired and if the price is right can travel at a moments notice.

Cruise lines are great at filling ships.

  14. There is 1 13 day cruise (her inaugural cruise) that is going to Athens as well as several 10 day ones. Those are all scheduled for Spring/Summer/Fall in 2016. After that, she will be based in Miami with a variety of Eastern/Southern/Western Caribbean cruises.

The transatlantic is also 13 days.

  15. So the ship may bounce a bit;) Is it safe? Has it sunk yet? Have you heard of anyone bouncing off the walls? Better bring your bands, bonine, ginger, as I predict you'll get sick just from worrying about it:eek:

    While cruising is extremely safe.

People have bounced off walls during storms.

The video is 7 mins but the real action starts at the 4 min mark.
