  1. I suspect that Royal is risk averse to the swim-up bar thing. There is a reason that you do not see swim-up bars in the CONUS. Liability insurance. The whole "pee" thing is a real turn-off but the real reason is too many stupid drunks with an easy means of drowning themselves. I love a good swim-up bar but I doubt we will ever see them on a ship or in the US (I've seen them in Puerto Rico but never in the CONUS).

  2. when does this take effect ? We are on the pride next weekend may 17th and my daughter is gold . She is looking forward to the past guest party

    5/15

The party also loses that intimate feel that a party that is designed to celebrate your loyalty should have and so with these reasons in mind we will 5/15 departures change to inviting only Diamond and Platinum guests to the VIFP party.

  3. On carnival if you search the date march 2016 it comes up. Doesn't make sense because it also shows the repositioning cruise. That's why I was hoping another ship was taking that same itinerary

That's weird .the above link was for Pride March 2016

This is for the entire fleet 3/16 I only see Paradise sailing out of Tampa that month.

  4. Not sure we want to do that line. No 2.0 upgrades. My disney trip is this summer :) Weird that they still have to pride sailing for next March out of tampa. Checked this morning and it's still there.

Hmm which site are you referencing? On the carnival site,it shows Pride sailing out of Baltimore in March of 2016

  5. I noticed the same thing. Our cruise isn't until next year but there only a few excursions offered right now. I decided to go to the excursion brochure on the RC website instead of by specific cruise and couldn't find any St.Kitts excursions. I wonder if RC is in contract negotiations with St.Kitts tour operators?!

    I'm seeing 26

  6. Not sure about St Kitts specifically, but many indie tour operators are signing exclusivity contracts with the cruise lines. Many will even have it listed on their website that you have to book the tour via the respective cruise line.

Many have gotten around this on some tours by just booking as if they were staying at a resort.

With a catamaran, you can expect they will pack them to full capacity and it's probably not possible to book certain ones without going through the ship.

I'm sure if you do a search, you can find multiple catamaran indie tours that will be both cheaper and have a smaller numbers of passengers onboard.

With 11 people you might be able to get a private tour at a reasonable rate.

  7. Since 9/11 you have to book more then 3 days before the sailing date so the government can do their checks. I have to call shenanigans on you booking 2 days before sailing last year.

Pre-9/11 you could book (sometimes) on the day of sailing if you wanted, but that is long gone...

    6&8

You have a source for that info

    This is from cruise critic

These days, cruise lines are required by law to submit passenger manifests within 24 to 48 hours of departure.

  8. The issue is carnival doesn't do many transatlantic cruises and when they do folks pounce in them,so the prices skyrocket.

Since the other lines have fewer ships, they have to shuffle their fleet back and forth across the Atlantic meaning lots of cruises in need of lots of cruisers.

  9. Has anyone heard of a restaurant that will be serving sushi on the Escape? Maybe I have missed it...

So far no sushi restaurant..its blank on the dining guide PDF for Escape. Looks like the are going with different ala cart items.

I'm a big sushi lover and still holding out hope...

  10. But there's got to be a way to the mainland. Some ferry or tender for employees and for NCL excursions to ruins and other places, so surely there'll be away for private vendors to meet up with passengers on the mainland. I would doubt seriously that Belize based vendors will venture that far south to grab a few people from a single ship. So probably going to see southern Belize based excursion vendors out of Placencia.

This is from the river tubing excursion details

. This tour includes an approximate 30 minute boat transfer to Belize mainland and the transfer to Jungle Camp Outpost is approximately 30 minutes from tour starting point.*

  11. Theoretically, you could sleep two people in a studio cabin. You'd have to be exceptionally cozy to do it, though. I wonder how the studio cabin would price out for two occupants?

The website won't even show pricing for the studio cabins if you put in more than one passenger.

It's ironic because initially the studios were designed for "hip couples" when that flopped they reinvented them as solo cabins.

  12. What else is included in the Journeys cruises and when is the first one?

Carnival Journeys will debut with an 11-day cruise aboard Carnival Dream from New Orleans to San Juan Oct. 4, 2015.*

    Memorable Activities

Authentic Eats:*Partnering with local restaurants and chefs, Carnival Journeys participants can enjoy on-board cooking demonstrations where these culinary artists will recreate their signature dishes and traditional cuisines from their country.* Participants will also have an opportunity to dine at the chef’s restaurant ashore for a nominal fee and accompany the chef as he or she visits local markets for delectable regional specialties.

*“Local”-tainment:*From calypso, soca and Goombay to colorful folkloric entertainment, Carnival Journeys participants will get an up close and personal look at their destination through local entertainment performances taking place outside the ship or on board.

**Academy of Fun:*Through these educational enrichment sessions, Carnival’s shipboard experts will instruct guests in topics ranging from cooking and arts and crafts to digital photography and social media, even celestial navigation.* All of these activities will be performed with the fun and entertaining style that only Carnival can provide.

**Throwback Sea Day:*Carnival will set the “way back machine” to 1987 and recreate a fun day at sea with retro pool and deck games, old school dining options like Baked Alaska and the gala midnight buffet, a white glove Captain’s Celebration, popular movies from that era, a circa 1987 version of the Carnival Capers shipboard newsletter, and more.

**Shipboard Team Member Connections:*Here, Carnival Journeys participants can learn more about shipboard life through informative question and answer sessions hosted by the ship’s captain, cruise director, hotel director and others, held at different times throughout the voyage and providing an opportunity to engage and interact with the Carnival team in a fun and casual setting. *There will also be an unforgettable show performed by the ship’s crew during the voyage.

  13. Does anyone know why the studios are listed as sleeping up to two people? Do they allow two people in a studio room? I'm mostly curious because of the upcoming studio balconies that are going to exist on the new ships.

You mentioned studio balconies, which are on Royal Caribbean's Anthem and Quantum OTS. They do allow up to two guests in the cabins. Are you mixing up the cruise lines?
