Yes, the ship is not listed in the drop down menu so I selected Adventure but put in the reservation number for Utopia and her sail date. approved 2 days later and OBC is in my planner
While most next cruise bookings are non refundable if you pick a specific ship and sail date, pay the full deposit and ask for a refundable rate you can get a refundable next cruise booking, you do get less OBC for the booking though.
They are charging to control capacity. On port days there are few people on the ship so it's not an issue. On Sea days everyone is on the ship so they charge.
Same principal apples to Crowns edge. Even if they ran it 24/7 they could still not put through 50% of the guests on board, Hence they charge
No you can't get an FCC and the money can't be applied to an existing sailing. The reservation MUDST be transferred to a different ship and sail date keeping the reservation number intact.
It was a plan B and Plan C and pretty sure they were both in place from the start, it was just on the timing as to when they were released.
I think they may have success if they did the same kind of itinerary with a VY class ship and only sold it as individual segments right from day one and then offer discounts based on the number of consecutive segments people booked. Scrap all the extra perks that added significantly to the cost of the full voyage and on a ship with a lot more balconies and suites. I know it would possibly mean sacrificing a few ports because of it's size
Pretty easy to calculate what the pricing would be by comparing cost of 2 in a cabin for various sailings. pricing will stay relative applying the same discount to each comparison
A lot of it had to do with how they marketed it.
They released the full world cruise and then waited too long to release the 4 quarterly segments and then again waited far too long to release the short segments. By the time they released the short segments other itineraries had been available and people had already made other plans on different ships.
The other gig hindrance is the ship itself. There are relatively few balconies and suites so by the time it got down to the shorter segments there was really only insides and oceanviews remaining. Lots of great itineraries just not a lot of good cabins.
I can't answer if it's worth it as that is all subjective but I can tell you that Star class on Harmony out of Galveston is lower than any ports out of Florida.
