  1. I just laugh at this thought! My TEENAGERS don't even like loud music!! We have been on many cruises on RCCL, Carnival, Celebrity, Princess and NCL. Our first Celebrity was last year. Believe it or not my kids told me that it is their favorite cruise line and we are going again in April. It is their cruise line of choice and I can assure it wasn't loud music that wanted them going back for more. If Celebrity can appeal to teenagers with what they are currently doing why would they want to change??

  2. Not 100% sure but I would say probably not. We booked with a TA and had a great deal after a price drop. He told me that we would still get the 123go promo, but when he called to ask Celebrity about one of our cabins they said no! He insists he booked it so we would get the promo. Long story short, we are not getting the promo due to the price drop, but because of the mix up they are compensating us somewhat. Not enough to cover the cost of the bev pkg but at least something. Our only other option was to cancel, but we have our set on this cruise so that really wasn't an option. Good luck to you!!

  3. Not sure if I should even ask this question, but I'm reading a lot about men wearing nice pants, shirt, and a sport coat without a tie on formal night, but what about dress pants, dress shirt, tie and no jacket?? Is the jacket required? Not a problem for my husband, but my son squeezed into the jacket he had last year just so he could wear it for the one formal night we went to. I really don't want to buy him a jacket for one night. He will definitely grow out of it before he would ever need to wear it again!!

  4. Celebrity would acknowledge it at dinner. We celebrated our 20 yr anniversary on board last year and the kids surprised us with a cake at dinner. We were sang to and everything!!

  5. From everything I have heard and read one is not allowed to connect a DVD player to the tv on the ship. Maybe consider buying a portable DVD player to bring? They are relatively inexpensive. Do you have a laptop that you bring? A lot of them allow you to watch DVDs. Easy options without having to lug around a DVD player that can't be used.

  6. Hi! Can anyone tell me what time the muster drill is on the Silhouette? Last year we were on the Summit and since it sailed at night the muster drill coincided with dinner. Fortunately we knew ahead of time so we adjusted dinner accordingly. Every cruise line seems to have their muster drill at different times so just trying to plan ahead. Thank you!!

  7. I have been having the same problem. Sometimes my reservation is there and sometimes not! Weird!! Just keep trying!.....and print everything when it does show up....just in case it "disappears" again!

  8. We did the St Thomas, St Croix, St Kitts, Grenada, Dominica last year and it was awesome!! We hadn't been to Grenada or Dominica. We rented a jeep on St Thomas and spent the day at Meghan's Bay. Had a great time. We also rented a jeep on St Croix. It rained most of the day but we drove around the island and made the best of it. We preferred this itinerary....but just our opinion. Either way, you will have a blast. We really enjoyed the Summit!!!

  9. Have never been on the Gem but have been on NCL and the Celebrity Summit as well and I would HIGHLY recommend the Summit over any NCL!! Loved everything about the Summit! Only reason we aren't sailing on her again this year is because of the sail date in April. Going on the Silhouette instead. Considered an NCL.....for about 2 seconds.....but Celebrity is definitely a step up!!......just my opinion tho!'

  10. Improvements on Celebrity (S-Class) over HAL (Signature class) is more spacious (but lacking character = generic hotel feel) public rooms and more specialty dining options.

HAL is well above in comfort, amenities, open deck space, classy traditions and food included in the price.

Entertainment is on par with a special note for a unique Glass show on Celebrity (except the Silhouette and the Reflection).

Royal Caribbean (Oasis class and Freedom class) is below Celebrity as far as specialty dining and buffet are concerned.

RCI beats Celebrity in other aspects including overall design and especially entertainment programs which are #1 at sea on the RCI Quintet.

HAL is way above RCI in all aspects except entertainment programs and sports facilities.

A change is a good thing. It's interesting to try something new.

Avoid the Silhouette and especially the Reflection.

The best option to try Celebrity is the Eclipse, the second one is the Equinox.

Avoid the Silhouette??? Why??? It was recently rated one of the top ships. I have heard nothing but good things. We are scheduled to sail on the Silhouette next month. Interested to know why you say to avoid it!!

  11. Nice review!! We were on the Summit last April during Spring Break. This was our first Celebrity cruise. We chose it for some new ports.....Grenada and Dominica. We sailed with our teenage children. We had previously sailed quite a few times on Royal Caribbean, Carnival, NCL, and Princess. While we don't care for NCL and Carnival we really liked Royal Caribbean and Princess......until sailing with Celebrity. Even my kids said that Celebrity is their favorite! We have decided to sail Celebrity again this year for Spring Break this time on the Silhouette. My husband and kids climbed the volcano in St Kitts. My husband had climbed it on a previous cruise but said that this time it was MUCH more difficult. Kudos to you for doing it!! We are going to St a Kitts again this year, but no more volcanos. This time it is my turn with the kids and we are going zip lining!! Hope I survive!! Have fun on your future cruises!! I'm sure you will!!!

  12. Guess we will see once we are on board. My kids are in the connecting cabin so not sure if we would keep the door open or not. They usually have an inside cabin, but it was actually cheaper for us to book them in a balcony this time so we went for it!!

  13. One thing that I LOVE about Celebrity is that they designate gluten free items on their menu. That way one doesn't have to order ahead of time!! So much more convenient that way! Once the servers know you are gluten free they bring the bread special but otherwise we can order off the menu!!

  14. How does one know which are "adjoining" balconies? I THINK we have connecting rooms on our upcoming Silhouette cruise. (It has the little line on the deck plan), but does that mean it has the door to be able to open the balcony as well??..... Or do just certain cabins have that?

  15. We were on the Summit last year and I had no problem eating gluten free in the MDR. LOVED the designations on the menu. The first night I mentioned that I had to eat gluten free and had the bread every night. Now booked on the Silhouette in April and hoping for the same. I never knew that they offered gf pizza!! Maybe it is just on certain ships?
