We always do late seating and love it. No rush to get back from a port day and still have time to get ready for dinner, no wait for a table, and it gives us an excuse to have a heavy snack around 4 PM to tide us over 🙂

Agree. Our sentiments exactly. Another bonus for us: Less kids.

Sleep in for a late breakfast, late lunch, afternoon snack!!

We ALWAYS do my time dining. Not this time, I decided to change to 8pm dining.

With all the issues I have been seeing on these boards about long waits (even with reservations) and the MTD issues, it was a no brainer to change it to 8pm.

I will deal with eating that late.

    Happy cruising everyone.

We love Late Seating. Tried MTD twice. Didn't like it either time.

    Good reasoning.

We must have lucky on Navigator.

But it really was first class always being updated,

No idea as to who was keeping it updated I should have asked.

I liked that the account info was updated almost instantaneously. Never had any mistakes which would have caused us to visit Guest Services. This is really unusual as it seems we always had to visit Guest Services. Hope this is a sign of the future......

The stateroom steward will get you a part copy if you ask them.

    The app was updated continuously.

This was not the case on our Mariner Cruise a few weeks ago. The app account info was updated continuously but the scheduled events were not. The printed cruise compass was more accurate. It seems as with everything else with RCI, it varies from ship to ship. I would recommend you look at both the printed Compass and the app till some point in the future that you feel comfortable with the app.

It will not be ending for people leaving the US anytime soon. People need to stop posting crap until it actually happens

    Crap? Really?

It's cruise critic. Besides, the OP posted it with a question mark so I wouldn't consider it crap.

In fact, you stating that "it will not be ending for people leaving the US anytime soon" is total conjecture on your part and might be considered crap by some.

I've been having a lot of doctor's appointments lately and none of the doctors offices I go to here are requiring masks anymore so perhaps it's signaling the beginning of the end. (pure conjecture on my part).

    🙂

I wish folks who don't want children onboard a family cruise line will consider taking a different CruiseLine/ or vacation and stop complaining about kids .  If you don't want kids onboard, don't take a line that caters to families. And, don't sail over summer or a major US holiday and complain even louder.  We've taken numerous cruises (many in the summer or over holidays) and can honestly say we've never been bothered by kids on board.   Have  we seen kids run in the hallway or get in the elevator before we've had a chance to get off, of course,  but who cares?   We recently sailed Easter week on Harmany with 1500 kids.  NO ISSUES.

    Lighten up

LOL. Then there wouldn't be a Cruise Critic!! LOL

I was probably unclear; I was not meaning to suggest that you are actively avoiding kids.  It just seems a bit tautological to say that you do not notice differences in numbers of kids given that you choose to spend time where kids are not allowed (Solarium) or is essentially a gated neighborhood (DL lounge).

I had to look that word up ... twice.

We are currently on Navigator and the app works just fine.

Just out of curiosity, can you get the printed Compass and compare it to the app and let us know what you find??

We were just on the Mariner and got the printed Compass every day and found out that the printed compass was updated and different from the app for the daily activities. The Compass was accurate, and the app was not. I did like the app for checking menus and the account activity otherwise we didn't trust it.

Thanks for all of the insight. The last three cruises we have been on, people were doing b2b's on the same ships and the same itineraries, which is why I was curious if I was missing something. I would definitely want the same stateroom though if I ever did a b2b, I have no desire to change rooms part way through, lol.

We usually do a 7-day B2B in December every year in the weeks just prior to Christmas for a total of 14 days:

    1. B2B reduces travel costs as some have pointed out. Pre-Christmas cruises are more reasonably priced. Decorations on the ship are awesome.

    2. Our B2B cruising started when I was still working so limited vacation time available (now we try to cruise more often)

    3. We try to find a B2B with two different itineraries

    4. With the introduction of the mega ships, sometimes you can't fit everything you wanted to do in a single 7-day cruise. Plenty of options for the second leg

    5. RCL has very few itineraries longer than 7 days except for repositioning cruises

    6. While not always true now-a-days, RCL used to provide a nice lunch on turn-around day in the MDR for B2B cruisers. Years ago, sometimes they even included the lunch with officers and even provided free wine from time to time.

    7. If you watch a show on the first leg that is repeated on the 2nd leg then it can be beneficial to allow you to schedule something different during that time on the 2nd leg.

    Hello,

I've seen that every time but always thought it referred to the line above, ie Bingo.

I miss the tokens - they came in useful for playing roulette (privately).

    Regards,

    Cublet

We miss the tokens too! We don't play the slots with them, we just keep them for souvenirs since they are worth more than anything you could possibly win...  LOL Nice keepsakes....

We had something similar on Monarch when buffet was on pool deck during a late departure from Nassau. By the time we got there, they were all gone. An officer noticed her dissapointment and he had a plate delivered to our MDR table the next night

    Very nice.

I've seen guests take the whole tray of those before. Laura was livid

Funny (well, maybe not so funny) Sallie & I went to the midnight buffet (before they were eliminated) specifically so she could get some chocolate covered strawberries. A little kid about 10 or 12 (who shouldn't be up at midnight anyway) right in front of Sallie unloaded the entire plate of about 15 that were left of them onto his plate. Sallie was livid.

I lost interest in flying awhile back so we only cruise the Caribbean out of Florida.  We drive there from Georgia.  We’ve done so many cruises in the Caribbean that we never get off anymore.  For us the ship is our destination.  I look at it as a floating hotel with ever changing ocean views.  I love sailing and I love looking at the ocean.  Don’t need to get off the ship to get exercise…can get plenty onboard!

    Sounds like us!!!

Or for existing members to retain for no reason. A loyalty program should require use. I’m a member of hotel group loyalty programs and they drop you back down levels when you don’t use them within a set time, like annually.

Funny you should mention this. I am a member of Hilton Honors and one day I received a letter and some gifts in the mail saying I was a Diamond Member for Life. I didn't even know they had such a level. I asked what I had done to achieve such a milestone and they told me that you had to reach Diamond level 10 years in a row. That's when I decided I needed to retire and get off the road!!!

Ok, ready to get flamed.  Some things are not presented as well on the phones. Lots of scrolling required to look at an item like a wine list or dinner menu.  Do they really provide a copy of the Cruise Compass i.e. 4 pages of information that you can read one page at a time??  It's the scrolling and lack of descriptive verbage and pictures that makes the phone format not so useful to me.  The phone does provide tons of information (still think some is omitted) if you know exactly what you are looking for, browsing to big picture type info not some much.  Willing to learn; thanks for helpful hints.  Plus the technology is getting better sometimes it's not the user at fault.

Agreed. And less chance of dropping the phone in the toilet.
