There is a nationwide airport services strike scheduled for June 20. Apparently baggage handlers called the strike and other air related unions joined them. We are due to land on June 20 and am very concerned that our flight will be cancelled. But the airline indicates that they are operating normally and have not reacted to the strike call Will the airlines wait until the last minute to cancel? Will flights continue into Italy regardless of the strike?

Can the shuttle be booked before embarkation? We board June 22

Do you have a phone number to call the ship? I read that a number would be in the eDocs but I don’t see one

7 miles. I have now read several reports that there are Celebrity buses going in and out of Ravenna all day on our sail day

I've tried searching but could not find my answer. I've read that your edocuments would contain ship phone contact info and port operator phone number. I just received my documents and they show "Meet & Greet" number for Trumpy Tours, which I think is the transfer bus service, and Celebrity Air but no other phone numbers. I would like the phone number of the ship in case we would have an emergency, either immediately before our cruise or during. I can find the phone numbers to reach a passenger on the ship but not the ship itself. We will be on a Mediterranean cruise. Thanks

We did a Princess cruise last October Athens to Barcelona. They had a man give port talks for each port and he was very good. Partial tour selling but very open with DIY port info with slides. Only other cruise with good port talks was Princess in Alaska, ten years ago

Runs on Sundays and, it appears, on embarkation days. But the OP is going from ship to city center. I think on second day in port, an overnighter. Doesn’t run those days, at least for our day.

The bus looks like a great option. My concern is with the few other options available to get to the city, only 2 buses for the whole morning and over 2,000 ship passengers can we depend on the bus to get into the city. I’ve read that there are very few taxis. Plus concern with getting back to the ship in the afternoon

Ages 19 & 20. Want to be prepared in an emergency situation when they could not act on their own. Same for us, ages 71 & 76.

Traveling to Europe with my college age grandchildren. I think medical powers of attorney would be a good idea for all of us, just in case. I can download one from the American Bar Association, but doubt it would be legal in Europe, but still better than nothing. Does anyone have related experiences, or ideas?

Mick B, please post how the public bus works out. Ravenna doesn’t seem to have much infrastructure to handle any volume of tourists.

We have a day in port at the beginning of our cruise. We are concerned with the limited transportation options getting to and from the city center. There are beaches within walking distance north of the cruise terminal and within walking distance with a ferry going south. Does anyone have experience with going to these beaches for the day? There are many restaurants on the beaches and the beaches look to be nice sandy beaches

Crewsgirl & Euro cruiser, thank you so much. My comment was made from memory. When I checked my records I had a quote from someone that all flights to US leave from gate 5, guess I didn’t check their info. I see our Am Airlines flights leave from terminal 3. Will get Fast Track for each of us

Good report, thanks What made Venice not cruise friendly and a nightmare. We’re looking at two days there precruise For the Amalfi coast after Pompeii, what towns did you actually go into? We have a private tour booked and would like to bypass Sorrento and visit an Amalfi town or two after touring Pompeii.

Tour provider told me to purchase our Vatican admission only tickets directly from Vatican online at museivaticani.va. Tickets go on sale 60 days prior and sell out within a few minutes. To purchase tickets for July 3, go online on May 3 at 6:00 PM eastern time (31 days for May + 30 June) this is midnight in Italy. Being anal I did a couple trial runs in March & early April and could buy whatever times I wanted. But a trial run in late April for late June was a different story. Immediately got error messages, timeouts & other. Kept retrying and eventually got thru to see limited ticket availability. Decided to get help for purchase day. Had 3 additional people and me online at 6:00PM in different locations, sounds like purchasing Taylor Swift tickets. We all got error messages repeatedly. I eventually got thru and purchased my 5 tickets for my desired time slot. One other eventually got thru but only limited tickets were available. The other 2 never got thru. You need to give various info, including names of each participant. Morning times seem to sell first, late afternoon last.

Would the Life 360 app work outside the US? Families use it to track their teenage drivers. Lets you know exactly where they are. I have heard about it but never used

Facebook discussion by cruisers. They felt loosing a passport would be catastrophic and the safes have procedures to open them that staffs would be familiar with. No actual problems were noted. Just not feeling secure.

When traveling we always put our passports, credit cards and cash in the hotel room safe. We only carry one credit card and minimal cash when walking or touring. Just read a thread where it was stated and reinforced that they never leave passports or credit cards in hotel room safe. We will be staying in Venice and Rome, am I naive? Should we not trust room safes?

You’re the first person that I have read who has used FlixBus. Their price is by far the best but I’ve not seen enough positive info to consider them. Can you give some info about them and your experience?

Did you use the Celebrity shuttle to get into Ravenna and back to ship? Were they convenient to use?

We stayed at Athens Gate Hotel. Great location near Platka and the Acropolis. Modern, great breakfast, reasonable and has great views, especially of the Acropolis at night from roof restaurant. arranged for transfer to port but I think cab would have been good, just have set price
